Microglia are resident macrophage cells in the central nervous system that search for pathogens or abnormal neural activities and migrate to resolve the *** effective search and targeted motion of macrophages mean dearly to maintaining a healthy brain,yet little is known about their migration *** this work,we study microglial motion with and without the presence of external *** discover that the cells are promptly attracted by the applied forces(i.e.,mechanotaxis),which is a tactic behavior as yet unconfirmed in ***,in both the explorative and the targeted migration,microglia display dynamics that is strikingly analogous to bacterial run-and-tumble motion.A closer examination reveals that microglial run-and-tumble is more sophisticated,e.g.,they display a short-term memory when tumbling and rely on active steering during runs to achieve mechanotaxis,probably via the responses of mechanosensitive ion *** differences reflect the sharp contrast between microglia and bacteria cells(eukaryotes ***)and their environments(compact tissue ***).Further analyses suggest that the reported migration dynamics has an optimal search efficiency and is shared among a subset of immune cells(human monocyte and macrophage).This work reveals a fruitful analogy between the locomotion of 2 remote systems and provides a framework for studying immune cells exploring complex environments.

Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction:Effect of graft tunnel position on early to mid-term clinical outcomes

BACKgROUND Patient reported outcome measures(PROMs)can be used to assess knee function following anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)***-operatively,femoral and tibial tunnels are created to accommoda.e the new ACL *** is postulated that there is an optimum position and orientation of these tunnels and that outcomes from this procedure are affected by their *** To evaluate the influence of graft tunnel position on early to mid-term clinical outcomes following ACL *** Six PROMs were collected following ACL reconstruction which included the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score(KOOS),International Knee Documentation Committee,Lysholm,Tegner,EuroQol-5 Dimension-5 level,and Short Form 12-item Health Survey.A total of 8 radiological parameters were measured from post-operative X-rays relating to graft tunnel *** da.a was analysed to assess for any correlations between graft tunnel position and postoperative *** A total of 87 patients were included in the study with a mean post-operative follow-up of 2.3 years(range 1 to 7 years).Posterior position of tibial tunnel was associated with improved KOOS quality of life(rho=0.43,P=0.002)and EQ-5D VAS(rho=0.36,P=0.010).Anterior position of EndoButton femoral tunnel was associated with an improved EQ-5D index(rho=-0.38,P=0.028).There were no other significant correlations between any of the other radiological parameters and PROM *** Overall,graft tunnel position had very little correlation with clinical outcomes following ACL reconstruction.A few(posterior)tibial tunnel and(anterior)EndoButton femoral tunnel measurements were associated with better PROMs.

Nitrogen mineralization in the oldest climax communities in the eastern Mediterranean region

In this study,we investigated how tree species affect N mineralization in connection to some soil properties and seconder metabolite levels of litter,in the soil of the old-est native forest *** the oldest pure communi-ties of Pinus nigra(PN),Fagus orientalis(FO),and Abies bornmuelleriana(AB)in the mountain range of Mount Uluda.,Bursa,Turkey,annual net yield and N mineraliza-tion in the 0-5-and 5-20-cm soil layers were determined in a field incubation study over 1 *** locations were chosen from 1300 to 1600 m a.s.l.,and moisture content(%),pH,water-holding capacity(%),organic C,total N,and C/N ratio,and annual net mineral N yield of the soil and hydro-lyzed tannic acid and total phenolic compounds in litter were compared for these forest *** had the highest annual net Nmin yield(43.9±4.8 kg ha^(-1) a^(-1)),*** the lowest(30.5±4.2 kg ha^(-1) a^(-1)).Our findings show that in the oldest forest ecosystems,the seasonal soil moisture content and tree species play an essential role in N cycling and that hydrolyzed tannic acids and total phenolic compounds effectively control N *** acid and total phenolics in the litter were found to inhibit nitrification,but total phenolics were found to stimulate ammonification.

Implementation of a New Solution for the Preservation of Anatomical Specimens Made of Non-Toxic Substances

The preservation of anatomical pieces in Veterinary Anatomy is essential since it is not possible to dissect all domestic species. Most techniques use reagents with high levels of toxicity such as formaldehyde. The objective of this work was to develop a new preservation technique that uses reagents with zero toxicity and that allows obtaining preserved pieces suitable for anatomical studies. The alcohol propylene glycol technique was developed, the method of which uses a fixation step with alcohol, sodium chloride, commercial vinegar and subsequently the impregnation of the preservation solution made from propylene glycol and commercial vinegar, which are non-toxic. As a result of this work, adequately preserved sheep hearts were obtained that preserved their morphology with slight changes in size and weight, which did not affect their external and internal anatomical structure. Its coloration was not substantially affected, remaining a little lighter. The pieces obtained showed flexibility which allowed dissections to be carried out. The time to develop the technique was 20 da.s. A comparative study was carried out with the phenolated glycerin technique that uses toxic reagents (formaldehyde and phenol) and the pieces obtained with the alcohol propylene glycol technique were of better quality, observing that the pieces with phenolated glycerin tend to da.ken and are more rigid. And the time to develop the technique is 24 da.s. In conclusion, a preservation technique for anatomical pieces was developed that allowed the preservation of the organs under study, which allow their use for anatomical studies, and which have been preserved without changes until the time of this publication (8 months) and there are pieces preserved with this technique for 2 years.

High-performance sodium storage for cobalt phosphide composite array electrodes

Harmonics in the Squirrel Cage Induction Motor Analytic Calculation Part III: Influence on the Torque-speed Characteristic

The harmonics that appear in the squirrel cage asynchronous machine have been discussed in great detail in the literature for a long time. However, the systematization of the phenomenon is still pending, so we made an attempt to fill this gap in the previous parts of our study by elaborating formulas for calculation of parasitic torques. It was a general demand among those who work in this field towards the author to verify his formulas with measurements. In the literature, it seems,only one detailed, purposeful series of measurements has been published so far, the purpose of which was to investigate the effect of the number of rotor slots on the torque-speed characteristic curve of the machine. The main goal of this study is to verify the correctness of the formulas by comparing them with the referred series of measurements. Relying on this, the expected synchronous parasitic torques were developed for the frequently used rotor slot numbers-as a design guide for the ***, together with our complete table for radial magnetic pull published in our previous work, the designer has all the principles, da.a and formulas available for the right number of rotor slots for his given machine and for the drive system. This brings this series of papers to an end.

BACKgROUND The majority of gastric neuroendocrine tumors(g-NENs)are present in various lesions under endoscopy,and they can be polypoid uplifts,submucosal tumors or papules,erosions,and *** lesions are mostly confined to the mucosal or submucosal layer,usually less than 2 cm,and exclusively localized to the gastric body or *** type 1 g-NENs,about 22%of cases have no visible lesions under an endoscope,and such lesions can only be detected via biopsies(microcar-cinoids).CONCLUSION In the case under study,the patient did not have any visible raised lesions under a gastroscope,and the lesions were found only after a random *** article combines the endoscopic manifestations and clinical features of the lesions in this case to improve the diagnosis of g-NENs.

Effect of guanxin da.shen Dripping Pills on Coronary Heart Disease Comorbid with Depression or Anxiety: The ADECODE-Real World Study

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of guanxin da.shen Dripping Pill(gXDSDP) in treating anxiety and depression in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods: A total of 1,428 patients diagnosed with CHD screened for anxiety, depression, and quality of life(QOL) at baseline received 0.4 g of gXDSDP treatment 3 times per da. and returned for monthly reassessment. Patients were recruited after stable treatment for CHD and received assessment of general Anxiety Disorder-7(gAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9), and Seattle Angina Questionnaire(SAQ) for evaluating anxiety, depression, and *** were followed up 3 times, once every 4 weeks, during outpatient visits for 12 weeks. Results: At the third follow-up(F3), the anxiety symptom of 63.79%(673/1,055) of the patients improved to sub-clinical level, and the gAD-7 score improved significantly(8.11 vs. 3.87, Pgnificant improvement in PHQ-9 score(8.69 vs. 4.41, Pgnificantly improved at the end of treatment compared to those at baseline(all Pginal stability(2.74 vs. 4.14), anginal frequency(8.16vs. 9.10), treatment satisfaction(13.43 vs. 16.29), and disease perception(8.69 vs. 11.02). Conclusions: A fixed dosage of gXDSDP may be a potential treatment option for CHD patients comorbid with anxiety or depression.(Registration No. ChiCTR2100051523)
