Zebrafish as a disease model for studying human hepatocellular carcinoma

Liver cancer is one of the world's most common cancers and the second leading cause of cancer deaths. Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), a primary hepatic cancer, accounts for 90%-95% of liver cancer cases. The pathogenesis of HCC consists of a stepwise process of liver damage that extends over decades, due to hepatitis, fatty liver, fibrosis, and cirrhosis before developing fully into HCC. Multiple risk factors are highly correlated with HCC, including infection with the hepatitis B or C viruses, alcohol abuse, aflatoxin exposure, and metabolic diseases. Over the last decade, genetic alterations, which include the regulation of multiple oncogenes or tumor suppressor genes and the activation of tumorigenesis-related pathways, have also been identified as important factors in HCC. Recently, zebrafish have become an important living vertebrate model organism, especially for translational medical research. In studies focusing on the biology of cancer, carcinogen induced tumors in zebrafish were found to have many similarities to human tumors. Several zebrafish models have therefore been developed to provide insight into the pathogenesis of liver cancer and the related drug discovery and toxicology, and to enable the evaluation of novel smallmolecule inhibitors. This review will focus on illustrativeexamples involving the application of zebrafish models to the study of human liver disease and HCC, through transgenesis, genome editing technology, xenografts,drug discovery, and drug-induced toxic liver injury.

Transfer RNA(tRNA)-derived fragments,a new type of tRNA-derived small RNA(tsRNA),can be cleaved from tRNA by enzymes to regulate target gene expression at the transcriptional and translational *** are not only degradation fragments but also have biological functions,including those in immune inflammation,metabolic disorders,and cell *** dysregulation is closely associated with multiple diseases,including various cancers and acute pancreatitis(AP).AP is a common gastrointestinal disease,and its incidence increases *** development is associated with tsRNAs,which regulate cell injury and induce inflammation,especially pyroptosis and ***,serum tRF36 has the potential to serve as a non-invasive diagnostic biomarker and leads to pancreatic acinar cell ferroptosis causing inflammation to promote *** show the characteristics of tsRNAs and their diagnostic value and function in AP,and discuss the potential opportunities and challenges of using tsRNAs in clinical applications and research.

Early identification of stroke through deep learning with multi-modal human speech and movement data

Early identification and treatment of stroke can greatly improve patient outcomes and quality of *** clinical tests such as the Cincinnati Pre-hospital Stroke Scale(CPSS)and the Face Arm Speech Test(FAST)are commonly used for stroke screening,accurate administration is dependent on specialized *** this study,we proposed a novel multimodal deep learning approach,based on the FAST,for assessing suspected stroke patients exhibiting symptoms such as limb weakness,facial paresis,and speech disorders in acute *** collected a dataset comprising videos and audio recordings of emergency room patients performing designated limb movements,facial expressions,and speech tests based on the *** compared the constructed deep learning model,which was designed to process multi-modal datasets,with six prior models that achieved good action classification performance,including the I3D,SlowFast,X3D,TPN,TimeSformer,and *** found that the findings of our deep learning model had a higher clinical value compared with the other ***,the multi-modal model outperformed its single-module variants,highlighting the benefit of utilizing multiple types of patient data,such as action videos and speech *** results indicate that a multi-modal deep learning model combined with the FAST could greatly improve the accuracy and sensitivity of early stroke identification of stroke,thus providing a practical and powerful tool for assessing stroke patients in an emergency clinical setting.

The low Mach number limit of non-isentropic magnetohydrodynamic equations with large temperature variations in bounded domains

This paper verifies the low Mach number limit of the non-isentropic compressible magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)equations with or without the magnetic diffusion in a three-dimensional bounded domain when the temperature variation is large but *** uniform estimates of strong solutions are established in a short time interval independent of the Mach number,provided that the slip boundary condition for the velocity and the Neumann boundary condition for the temperature are imposed and the initial data is well-prepared.

Research on the Effect Evaluation of Protected Space Driving New Technologies Industrialization from the Perspective of ST

Based on the perspective of sustainability transitions(ST)theory,the paper dissects the opera-tional mechanisms of protected space driving emerging technology industrialization from an external system perspective,which is on the basis of defining essential characteristics and func-tional attributes of protected ***,it structures a three-dimensional evaluation model of protected space from the perspective of internal mechanism by introducing the policy mixes ***,taking the Chinese New Energy Vehicle(NEV)industry as the example and using the system dynamics modeling method,the paper designs different simulation schemes from three dimensions of horizontal evolution trend,three types of policy instrument change and policy mixes of protected space,to predict and analyze the operation effect of protected *** results show that the Chinese NEV industry is in the stage of market niche entry,and corresponding measures should be taken to increase the market scale,form effective demand and scale effect,and promote the diffusion of market niche;the effect of policy mixes is better than that of the single policy instrument;specific policy mixes should be adopted to develop simultaneously from both the supply and demand sides to improve the industrialization level of NEV.

Power Series Expansion of Propagator for Path Integral and Its Applications

In this paper we obtain a propagator of path integral for a harmonic oscillator and a driven harmonic oscillator by using the power series expansion. It is shown that our result for the harmonic oscillator is more exact than the previous one obtained with other approximation methods. By using the same method, we obtain a propagator of path integral for the driven harmonic oscillator, which does not have any exact expansion. The more exact propagators may improve the path integral results for these systems.

Influence of multi-stage heat treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of TC21 titanium alloy

Duplex-structured TC21 alloy samples were first solution-treated at a higher temperature in theα+βregion(940°C)with furnace cooling(FC),air cooling(AC),and water cooling(WC),followed by a second-stage solution treatment at a lower temperature in theα+βregion(900°C),and then finally aged at 590°*** effects of the morphology and quantity ofαphases on the structure and properties of the TC21 alloy after the different heat treatments were *** in-situ tensile deformation process and crack propagation behavior were observed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The quantity of equiaxedαphases as well as the thickness of lamellarαphases reduced,the tensile strength increased firstly and then decreased,the elongation decreased with the increasing cooling rate after the first-stage solution *** amount and size of lamellarαphases increased after the second-stage solution treatment because of sufficient diffusion of the alloying elements,thereby leading to increased tensile *** amount of dispersedαphases increased after the third-stage aging treatment owing to the increase in the nucleation rate,resulting in a noteworthy strengthening *** the third-stage aging treatment,the first-stage FC sample exhibited better mechanical properties because it contained more equiaxedαandβtrans phases than the first-stage AC and WC samples.

Highly active and stable Cu_(9)S_(5)-MoS_(2)heterostructures nanocages enabled by dual-functional Cu electrocatalyst with enhanced potassium storage

The intrinsic poor electrical conductivity,severe dissolution of K x S y intermediates,and inferior conversion reaction reversibility extremely impede the practical application of the transition-metal chalcogenides(TMDs)anode for potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).Herein,a rationally designed Cu_(9)S_(5)/MoS_(2)/C heterostruc-ture hollow nanocage was synthesized with assistance from metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)*** the K-storage process,the homogeneously distributed the sulfiphilic nature of Cu 0 reaction prod-uct could act as a dual-functional catalyst,not only facilitating the rapid charge transfer but also effec-tively anchoring(K x S y)polysulfides,thus boosting K-storage reactions reversibility during the conversion reaction *** applied as an anode for PIBs,the as-prepared heterostructure exhibits excellent reversible capacity and long cycle lifespan(350.5 mAh g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1)and 0.04%per cycle capacity de-cay at 1 A g^(-1)after 1000 cycles).Additionally,the potassium storage mechanism is distinctly revealed by in-situ *** nanoarchitecture designing strategy for the advanced electrode in this work could provide vital guidance for relevant energy storage materials.

Fully Coupled Time-Domain Simulation of Dynamic Positioning Semi-Submersible Platform Using Dynamic Surface Control

A fully coupled 6-degree-of-freedom nonlinear dynamic model is presented to analyze the dynamic response of a semi-submersible platform which is equipped with the dynamic positioning(DP) system. In the control force design, a dynamic model of reference linear drift frequency in the horizontal plane is introduced. The dynamic surface control(DSC) is used to design a control strategy for the DP. Compared with the traditional back-stepping methods, the dynamic surface control combined with radial basis function(RBF) neural networks(NNs) can avoid differentiating intermediate variables repeatedly in every design step due to the introduction of a first order filter. Low frequency motions obtained from total motions by a low pass filter are chosen to be the inputs for the RBF NNs which are used to approximate the low frequency wave force. Considering the propellers' wear and tear, the effect of filtering frequencies for the control force is discussed. Based on power consumptions and positioning requirements, the NN centers are determined. Moreover, the RBF NNs used to approximate the total wave force are built to monitor the disturbances. With the DP assistance, the results of fully coupled dynamic response simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
