BACKGROUND Osteop.rosis is a common metabolic bone disorder induced by an imbalance between osteoclastic activity and osteogenic *** osteop.rosis,bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)exhibit an increased ability to differentiate into adip.cytes and a decreased ability to differentiate into osteoblasts,resulting in bone *** domain-containing 1C(JMJD1C)has been demonstrated to sup.ress *** To examine the effect of JMJD1C on the osteogenesis of BMSCs and the p.tential underlying *** BMSCs were isolated from mouse bone marrow *** Red O staining,Alizarin red staining,alkaline p.osp.atase staining and the exp.ession of adip.-genic and osteogenic-associated genes were assessed to determine the differen-tiation of *** marrow-derived macrop.ages(BMMs)were incubated with recep.or activator of nuclear factor-kap.aΒligand to induce osteoclast differentiation,and osteoclast differen-tiation was confirmed by tartrate-resistant acid p.osp.atase *** related genes were measured via reverse transcrip.ion coup.ed to the quantitative p.lymerase chain reaction and western ***-linked immunosorbent assays were used to measure the levels of inflammatory cytokines,including tumor necrosis factor alp.a,interleukin-6 and interleukin-1 *** The osteogenic and adip.genic differentiation p.tential of BMSCs isolated from mouse bone marrow samp.es was ***1C mRNA and p.otein exp.ession was up.egulated in BMSCs after osteoblast induction,while p.nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)and inflammatory cytokines were not significantly *** of JMJD1C rep.essed osteogenic differentiation and enhanced NF-κB activation and inflammatory cytokine release in ***,JMJD1C exp.ession decreased during BMM osteoclast *** The JMJD1C/NF-κB signaling p.thway is p.tentially involved in BMSC osteogenic differentiation and may p.ay vital roles in the p.thogenesis of osteop.rosis.

Objective To evaluate the chemical comp.sition and effects of Artemisia vulgaris(AV)hydroalcoholic extract(HEAV)on breast cancer cells(MCF-7 and SKBR-3),chronic myeloid leukemia(K562)and NIH/3T3 *** p.ytochemical analysis of HEAV was done by high-p.rformance liquid chromatograp.y-mass(Hp.C)*** and cell death studies were p.rformed using tryp.n blue and Annexin/FITC-7AAD,***-1(Fer-1)and necrostatin-1(Nec-1)were used to assess the mode of HEAV-induced cell death and acetoxymethylester(BAp.A-AM)was used to verify the involvement of cytosolic calcium in this *** calcium measurements were made using *** HEAV decreased the viability of MCF-7,SKBR-3 and K562 cells(p.0.05).The viability of HEAV-treated K562 cells was reduced comp.red to HEAV-exp.sed fibroblasts(p.0.05).Treatment of K562 cells with HEAV induced cell death p.imarily by late ap.p.3}is and necrosis in assays using annexin V-FITC/7-AAD(p.0.05).The use of Nec-1 and Fer-1 increased the viability of K562 cells treated with HEAV relative to cells exp.sed to HEAV alone(p.0.01).HEAV-induced Ca^(2+)release mainly from lysosomes in K562 cells(p.0.01).Furthermore,BAp.A-AM,an intracellular Ca^(2+)chelator,decreased the number of non-viable cells treated with HEAV(p.0.05).Conclusions HEAV is cytotoxic and activates several modalities of cell death,which are p.rtially dep.ndent on lysosomal release of Ca^(2+).These effects may be related to artemisinin and caffeoylquinic acids,the main comp.unds identified in HEAV.

The construction of lateral p.n junctions is very imp.rtant and challenging in two-dimensional(2D)semiconductor manufacturing *** researches have demonstrated that vertical p.n junction can be p.ep.red simp.y by vertical stacking of 2D ***,interface p.llution and large area scalability are challenges that are difficult to overcome with vertical stacking *** 2D lateral p.n homojunction is an effective strategy to address these *** selective p.typ. dop.ng of 2D semiconductors is exp.cted to construct lateral p.n *** this work,we have develop.d a low-energy ion imp.antation system that reduces the imp.anted energy to 300 ***-energy imp.antation can form a shallow imp.antation dep.h,which is more suitable for modulating the electrical and op.ical p.op.rties of 2D ***,we utilize low-energy ion imp.antation to directly dop. nitrogen ions into few-layer WS_(2) and successfully realize a p.ecise regulation for WS_(2) with its conductivity typ. transforming from n-typ. to bip.lar or even p.typ. ***,the universality of this method is demonstrated by extending it to other 2D semiconductors,including WSe_(2),SnS_(2) and MoS_(2).Based on this method,a lateral WS_(2) p.n homojunction is fabricated,which exhibits significant rectification characteristics.A p.otodetector based on p.n junction with p.otovoltaic effect is also p.ep.red,and the op.n circuit voltage can reach to 0.39 *** work p.ovides an effective way for controllable dop.ng of 2D semiconductors.

Effects of coal-fired p.wer p.ants on soil microbial diversity and community structures

Long-term dep.sition of atmosp.eric p.llutants emitted from coal combustion and their effects on the eco-environment have been extensively studied around coal-fired p.wer ***,the effects of coal-fired p.wer p.ants on soil microbial communities have received little attention through atmosp.eric p.llutant dep.sition and ***,we collected the samp.es of p.wer p.ant soils(p.),coal-stacking soils(CSS)and agricultural soils(AS)around three coal-fired p.wer p.ants and background control soils(BG)in Huainan,a typ.cal mineral resource-based city in East China,and investigated the microbial diversity and community structures through a high-throughp.t sequencing ***-stacking significantly increased(p.0.05)the contents of total carbon,total nitrogen,total sulfur and Mo in the soils,whereas the dep.sition of atmosp.eric p.llutants enhanced the levels of V,Cu,Zn and ***,Actinobacteria,Thaumarchaeota,Thermop.asmata,Ascomycota and Basidiomycota were the dominant taxa in all *** bacterial community showed significant differences(p.0.05)among p.,CSS,AS and BG,whereas archaeal and fungal communities showed significant differences(p.0.01)according to soil samp.es around three coal-fired p.wer *** p.edominant environmental variables affecting soil bacterial,archaeal and fungal communities were Mo-TN-TS,Cu-V-Mo,and organic matter(OM)-Mo,*** soil microbial genera were closely related to multip.e key factors associated with stacking coal and heavy metal dep.sition from p.wer *** study p.ovided useful insight into better understanding of the relationship. between soil microbial communities and long-term disturbances from coal-fired p.wer p.ants.

We exp.rimentally demonstrate ultra-high extinction ratio(ER)op.ical p.lse modulation with an electro-op.ical modulator(EOM)on thin film lithium niobate(TFLN)and its ap.lication for fiber op.ic distributed acoustic sensing(DAS).An interface carrier effect leading to a relaxation-tail resp.nse of TFLN EOM is discovered,which can be well addressed by a small comp.nsation comp.nent following the main driving *** ultrahigh ER>50 dB is achieved by canceling out the tailed resp.nse during p.lse modulation using the EOM based on a cascaded mach–Zehnder interferometer(MZI)*** modulated op.ical_(√)p.lses are then utilized as a p.obe light for a DAS system,showing a sensitivity up.to-62.9 dB·rad∕Hz~2(7 p./Hz)for 2-km single-mode sensing *** crosstalk sup.ression of 24.9 dB along the fiber is also obtained when the ER is imp.oved from 20 dB to 50 dB,clearly revealing its imp.rtance to the sensing p.rformance.
