The interaction of house dust mites(HDM)and microorganisms is the key factor in the survival of these mites in human-made *** growth medium(SPGM)provides the rest of the dict,along with dead mite bodies and *** represents a source of microorganisms for the recolonization of mite food and the mite digestive *** experiment was performed to observe how adding SPGM to the HDM diet affects HDM population growth,the microbiome composition and the microbial respiration in *** analyzed American house dust mite(Dermatophagoides farinae)and European house dust mite(Dermatophagoides pleronyssinus)originating from control diets and diets treated with an extract of SPGM from 1-and 3-month-old mite *** microbiome was described using 16S and 18S barcode *** composition of the bacterial and fiungal microbiomes differed between the HDM species,but the SPGM treatment influenced only the bacterial profile of *** the *** microbiome of specimens on SPGM-treated dicts compared to those of the control situation,the Lactobacillus profile decreased,while the Candinium,Staphylococ-cus,Acinetobacter,and Sphingomonas profiles *** addition of SPGM extract decreased the microbial respiration in the microcosms with and without mites in almost all *** SPGM did not influence the population growth of ***,but it had a variable effect on *** results indicated that the HDM are marginally influenced by the microorganisms in their feces.

Astrocytes are integral components of the central nervous system,where they are involved in numerous functions critical for neuronal development and functioning,including maintenance of blood-brain barrier,formation of synapses,supporting neurons with nutrients and trophic factors,and protecting them from *** roles are markedly affected in the course of chronic neurodegenerative disorders,often before the onset of the *** this review,we summarize the recent findings supporting the hypothesis that astrocytes play a fundamental role in the processes contributing to *** focus onα-synucleinopathies and tauopathies as the most common neurodegenerative *** mechanisms implicated in the development and progression of these disorders appear not to be exclusively neuronal,but are often related to the astrocytic-neuronal integrity and the response of astrocytes to the altered microglial function.A profound understanding of the multifaceted functions of astrocytes and identification of their communication pathways with neurons and microglia in health and in the disease is of critical significance for the development of novel mechanism-based therapies against neurodegenerative disorders.

Leaf senescence is a complex phenomenon occurring in all plant species, but it is still poorly understood in plants grown in Mediterranean field conditions and well-adapted to harsh climatic conditions. To better understand the physiological processes underlying leaf senescence in mastic trees （Pistacia lentiscus L.）, we evaluated leaf growth, water and N content, photosystem II （PSII） photochemistry, lipid peroxidation and levels of photosynthetic pigments, antioxidants, abscisic acid, and salicylic acid and jasmonic acid during the complete leaf lifespan, from early expansion to late senescence in relation to natural climatic conditions in the field. While mature leaves suffered from water and N deficit during late spring and summer, both young （emerging） and old （senescing） leaves were most sensitive to photo- oxidative stress, as indicated by reductions in the Fv/Fm ratio and enhanced lipid peroxidation during late autumn and winter. Reductions in the FvlFm ratio were associated with low ^-tocopherol （vitamin E） levels, while very old, senescing leaves additionally showed severe anthocyanin losses. We have concluded that both young （emerging） and old （senescing） leaves suffer oxidative stress in mastic trees, which may be linked in part to suboptimal temperatures during late autumn and winter as well as to low vitamin E levels.

Spain is the country with the most Biosphere Reserves in the world,52,and Asturias,with 7,ranks first among the single-province Autonomous *** tourist interest in these natural spaces is increasing,but little or nothing is known about how the residents of these natural spaces perceive the tourist *** main objective of this research was to evaluate the residents’perceived changes in protected mountain areas in Asturias concerning the environmental,sociocultural,and economic dimensions related to tourism activity with survey methods and various quantitative *** findings obtained were the following:firstly,there were significant differences between the residents’sociodemographic characteristics and their perceptions of tourism impacts;secondly,there were positive relationships between the residents’perceived tourism economic,environmental and sociocultural impacts and their general attitude towards tourism development;and thirdly,the more positive the residents’attitude towards tourism development,the more likely residents actively support its further *** findings indicate the willingness of residents to get involved and participate in the tourism activity,so policymakers should implicate residents in decisionmaking on local tourism *** conclusion,long-term monitoring of residents’evolution of their perceptions and attitudes is necessary to achieve sustainable tourism development.

Technical debt is considered detrimental to the long-term success of software development,but despite the numerous studies in the literature,there are still many aspects that need to be investigated for a better understanding of *** particular,the main problems that hinder its complete understanding are the absence of a clear definition and a model for its identification,management,and *** on forecasting technical debt,there is a growing notion that preventing technical debt build-up allows you to identify and address the riskiest debt items for the project before they can permanently compromise ***,despite this high relevance,the forecast of technical debt is still little *** this end,this study aims to evaluate whether the quality metrics of a software system can be useful for the correct prediction of the technical ***,the data related to the quality metrics of 8 different open-source software systems were analyzed and supplied as input to multiple machine learning algorithms to perform the prediction of the technical *** addition,several partitions of the initial dataset were evaluated to assess whether prediction performance could be improved by performing a data *** results obtained show good forecasting performance and the proposed document provides a useful approach to understanding the overall phenomenon of technical debt for practical purposes.

Arnica montana is a popular traditional remedy widely used in complementary and alternative medicine, in part for its wound-healing properties. The authors recently showed that this plant extract and several of its homeopathic dilutions are able to modify the expression of a series of genes involved in inflamma- tion and connective tissue regeneration. Their studies opened a debate, including criticisms to the ＂errors＂ in the methods used and the ＂confounders and biases＂. Here the authors show that the criticisms raised on methodology and statistics are not consistent and cannot be considered pertinent. The present comment also updates and reviews information concerning the action of A. montana dilutions in human macrophage cells while summarizing the major experimental advances reported on this interesting medicinal plant.

In present work, the optical and structural properties of silica sol-gel glasses and glass-ceramic materials singly- and dou- bly-doped with Eu3＋ and Gd3＋ ions were investigated. The optical properties of studied systems were determined based on absorption, excitation and emission spectra as well as luminescence decay analysis. Conducted studies clearly indicated a significant enhance- ment of visible emission originated from Eu3＋ ions as a result of changing the excitation mechanism, via Gd3＋Eu3＋ energy transfer. The luminescence intensity R-ratio was analyzed before and after heat-treatment process upon excitation at λex=393 nm and λex=273 nm. Moreover, the influence of excitation wavelength on luminescence decay time of the 5D0 excited state was also analyzed. The GdS＋-Eu3＋ energy transfer efficiencies for precursor and annealed samples were calculated based on luminescence lifetime of the 6p7/2 level of Gd3＋ ions. The X-ray diffraction measurements were conducted to verify the nature of obtained sol-gel materials. In re- sult, the formation of orthorhombic GdF3 nanocrystal phase dispersed in amorphous silica glass host was identified after annealing. Obtained results clearly indicated an incorporation of Eu3＋ activators into formed GdF3 nanocrystals. Thus, conducted heat-treatment process led to considerable changes in surrounding environment around Eu3＋ ions. Actually, it was found that en- ergy transfer phenomenon and heat-treatment process were responsible for significant improvement of Eu3＋ luminescence in stud- ied sol-gel samples.

Legislative changes have altered the way imported edible seafood is inspected in *** onus of responsibility has been placed on exporting countries to provide documentary evidence of adherence to internally recognized food safety *** to global trade agreements,any additional safety tests applied to freshwater fish imported into Australia must be ***,the aim of this study was to develop a risk scoring method to provide justification for identifying countries as'Freshwater fish high risk'and to examine the seafood they export to Australia for seafood supply chain *** ng was con ducted using six predictor variables,identified in the literature as important contributors to seafood supply chain breaches,to achieve the outcome variable,Country considered'Freshwater fish high ***-seven fish fillets(9.55 kg)of the same species were examined from the third highest scoring country(Country 20)and 562(5.6 kg)whole fish from the sixth highest scoring country(Country 22).Country 20 had supply chain breaches of 28 macroscopic yellow cysts in one *** hundred and thirteen parasites and other supply chain breaches were identified in fish from Country 22,in eluding retai ned liver(91 per cent),visible mud(11 per cent),a variety of debris(16 per cent)and,depending on the commodity code,these fish were imported to Australia under full intestine(90 per cent),retained gills(89 per cent),and partial intestine(9 per cent).Three serious physical hazards were recovered from the edible portion of three'consumer-ready' fish and snails of Genus Lymnaea and Indoplanorbis were recovered from gill mud also from'consumer-readyz *** study showed variable results from the scoring system and vast differences in seafood supply chain breaches between the third and sixth highest scoring countries.
