Diurnal variation of gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, and photosynthetic response of six parental lines of maize released in three eras

Over the past seven decades, the grain yield of maize(Zea mays L.) has increased continuously in China, mostly due to hybridization innovations, particularly recent genetic improvements in photosynthesis. In order to reveal photosynthetic characters of elite inbred lines in different ears, a field experiment was conducted at the North China Plain of Shandong Province in China. Six parental lines of maize introduced in three eras(the 1960 s, 1980 s, and 2000 s) were investigated diurnal variation of gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence, and photosynthetic response characteristic at the grain filling stage. Compared to earlier parental lines, the 2000 s parental lines always had higher net photosynthetic rate(Pn) throughout the day, especially at noon, and a mid-day depression in Pn did not occur in all hybrids parental lines. Moreover, the stomatal conductance(Gs) and water use efficiency(WUE) of the 2000 s’ lines showed higher value than those of the 1960 s’ and 1980 s’ lines. The inbred lines differences in photosynthetic parameters were partly owing to their different quantum carboxylation efficiencies and light synthase activities. Simultaneously, the 2000 s parental lines exhibited lower light and CO2 compensation points, and their higher apparent quantum yield, and carboxylation efficiency. These suggested that the modern parental lines required lower light intensity and less CO2 to maintain a relatively high photosynthetic capacity, substantially increasing leaf physical quality and stress resistance. It provided crucial information of high photo-efficiency and stress-resistance breeding in maize.

Whittle’s Index Based Sensor Scheduling for Multiprocess Systems Under DoS Attacks

Quantitative design of yield components to simulate yield formation for maize in China

Maize(Zea mays L.) stands prominently as one of the major cereal crops in China as well as in the rest of the ***,predicting the growth and yield of maize for large areas through yield components under high-yielding environments will help in understanding the process of yield formation and yield potential under different environmental *** accurate early assessment of yield requires accuracy in the formation process of yield components as *** order to formulate the quantitative design for high yields of maize in China,yield performance parameters of quantitative design for high grain yields were evaluated in this study,by utilizing the yield performance equation with normalization of planting *** density was evaluated by parameters including the maximum leaf area index and the maximum leaf area per *** showed that the variation of the maximum leaf area per plant with varying plant density conformed to the Reciprocal Model,which proved to have excellent prediction with root mean square error(RMSE) value of 5.95%.Yield model estimation depicted that the best optimal maximum leaf area per plant was 0.63 times the potential maximum leaf area per plant of *** performance parameters for different yield levels were quantitatively designed based on the yield performance *** validation of the yield performance model by simulating high yields of spring maize in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Jilin Province,China,and summer maize in Shandong Province,the yield performance equation showed excellent prediction with the satisfactory mean RMSE value(7.72%) of all the *** present study provides theoretical support for the formulation of quantitative design for sustainable high yield of maize in China,through consideration of planting density normalization in the yield prediction process,providing there is no water and nutrient limitation.

Genetic Dissection of Low Phosphorus Tolerance Related Traits Using Selected Introgression Lines in Rice

To dissect the genetic basis of low phosphorus tolerance （LPT）, 114 BC2F4 introgression lines （ILs） were developed from Shuhui 527 and Minghui 86 （recurrent parents）, and Yetuozai （donor parent）. The progenies were tested for 11 quantitative traits under three treatments including normal fertilization in normal soil （as control）, normal fertilization in barren soil and low phosphorus stress in barren soil in Langfang, Hebei Province, China. Moreover, the ILs were investigated at the seedling stage using nutrient solution culture method in greenhouse in Beijing, China. A total of 49 main-effect quantitative trait loci （QTLs） underlying yield related traits were identified in Langfang, and their contributions to phenotypic variations ranged from 6.7% to 16.5%. Among them, 25 （51.0%） QTLs had favorable alleles from donor parent. A total of 48 main-effect QTLs were identified for LPT-related traits in Beijing, and their contributions to phenotypic variations ranged from 7.7% to 16.6%. Among them, 21 （43.8%） QTLs had favorable alleles from donor parent. About 79.6% of the QTLs can be detected repeatedly under two or more treatments, especially QTLs associated with spikelet number per panicle, spikelet fertility and 1000-grain weight, displaying consistent phenotypic effects. Among all the detected QTLs, eight QTLs were simultaneously identified under low phosphorus stress across two environments. These results can provide useful information for the genetic dissection of LPT in rice.

Balanced Fracturing and Cold-welding of Magnesium during Ball Milling Assisted by Carbon Coating:Experimental and Molecular Dynamic Simulation

The lignite-derived carbon from self-protection pyrolysis was employed to balance the fracturing and cold-welding of magnesium during ball *** size analysis indicates that the introduction of lignite-derived carbon can effectively reduce the particle size of Mg while the introduction of graphite does no ***,the effect of lignite-derived carbon on crystallite size reduction of Mg is also better than graphite.A moderate cold-welding phenomenon was observed after ball-milling Mg with the lignite-derived carbon,suggesting less Mg is wasted on the milling vials and *** dynamic simulations reveal that the balanced fracturing and cold-welding of magnesium during ball milling is mainly attributed to the special structure of the lignite-derived carbon:graphitized short-range ordered stacking function as dry lubricant and irregular shape/sharp edge function as milling *** preliminary findings in current study are expected to offer implications for designing efficient Mg-based hydrogen storage materials.

稗草(Echinochloa crusgalli)是稻田中的C4光合型杂草,为了探索稗草ppc基因(Eppc)对水稻遗传转化的可行性及其对光合速率的调节效应,首次将含有稗草根型磷酸烯醇式丙酮酸羧化酶(phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase,PEPC)基因ppc c DNA的2个植物表达载体p Ubi-Eppc、p Rbc S-Eppc通过农杆菌介导法对水稻进行了遗传转化。对分化植株进行的PCR、RT-PCR、克隆测序和Western杂交等结果均表明稗草ppc基因已经整合到了水稻基因组中,并且在转录和翻译水平都得到了表达。转基因水稻PEPC活性和气体交换参数测定结果表明T0代多数植株的PEPC活性高于对照,最高达到了对照的5.85倍;T0代大多数转基因植株叶片的净光合速率(Pn)比对照提高了20.00%,最大地提高了47.16%,同时叶片水分利用效率(WUE)也得到增强;T6代大部分转化植株的PEPC活性及Pn仍保持高于对照,本研究表明C3根型ppc基因过量表达也可以提高水稻的Pn,且证明稗草PEPC对光合作用具有较强的调节作用。

Dynamic Coupling Analysis of Semisubmersible Platform Float-over Method for Docking Case
