A plant Immune Receptor Adopts a Two-Step Recognition Mechanism to Enhance Viral Effector perception

plant intracellular nucleotide binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) immune receptors play critical roles in pathoge n surveillance. Most plant NLRs characterized so far were found to use a single domain/sensor to recognize pathogen effectors. Here we report that the Sw-5b NLR immune receptor uses two distinct domains to detect the viral movement protein NSm encoded by tospovirus. In addition to its leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domain that has been previously reported, the N-terminal Solanaceae domain (SD) of Sw- 5b also interacts with NSm and a conserved 21-amino-acid region of NSm (NSm^21). The specific interaction between Sw-5b SD and NSm is required for releasing the inhibitory effect of coiled-coil domain on the NBARC- LRR region. Furthermore, we found that the binding of NSm affects the nucleotide binding activity of the NB-ARC-LRR in vitro, while Sw-5b NB-ARC-LRR is activated only when NSm and NSm^21 levels are high. Interestingly, Sw-5b SD could significantly enhanee the ability of the NB-ARC-LRR to detect low levels of NSm effector and facilitate its activation and induction of defense response. An Sw-5b SD mutant that is disrupted in NSm recognition failed to enhance the ability of the NB-ARC-LRR to sense low levels of NSm and NSm^21 . Taken together, our results suggest that Sw-5b SD functions as an extra sensor and the NB-ARC-LRR as an activator, and that Sw-5b NLR adopts a two-step recog nition mechanism to enhance viral effector perception.

The reconfigurable manufacturing system （RMS） is the next step in manufacturing, allowing the production of any quantity of highly customized and complex parts together with the benefits of mass production. In RMSs, parts are grouped into families, each of which requires a specific system configuration. Initially system is configured to produce the first family of parts. Once it is finished, the system will be reconfigured in order to produce the second family, and so forth. The effectiveness of a RMS depends on the formation of the optimum set of part families addressing various recon figurability issues. The aim of this work is to establish a methodology for grouping parts into families for effective working of RMS. The methodology carried out in two phases. In the first phase, the correlation matrix is used as similarity coefficient matrix. In the second phase, agglomerative hier archical Kmeans algorithm is used for the parts family for mation resulting in an optimum set of part families for reconfigurable manufacturing system.

In this study,bulk samples of multiferroic with compositional formula,BiFeO3 and Bi_(0.825)A_(0.175)FeO_(3)(A=La,pb),were synthesized by solid state reaction route.X-ray diffraction(XRD)along with the Rietveld refinement revealed the distorted rhombohedral(R3c)structure for pristine BiFeO3 and Bi0.825La0.175FeO3 and tetragonal(p4/mmm)for Bi_(0.825)pb_(0.175)FeO_(3)*** support the structural results,bond length between atoms for both of the compounds was calculated.A change in Raman mode position in BiFeO3(BFO)has been observed with La and pb substitution from Raman scattering measurements and also recommended a structural change with rare earth and metal ion substitution at Bi *** the frequency dependent dielectric constant and dielectric loss plots,a decrease in dielectric values with increase in frequency was observed for both of the *** microelectronic devices,porous ceramics with lower value of dielectric constant are most ***,further studies are also needed to carefully tune the magnetoelectric properties and structural distortion after La/pb substitution in BFO.

Tree species composition and diversity in montane forests of Garhwal Himalaya in relation to environmental and soil properties

The montane forests of Garhwal Himalaya were investigated for tree species composition and diversity in relation to environmental and edaphic variables.A stratified random sampling approach was adopted to collect the field data from each forest.A total of 39 tree species belonging to 31 genera and 23 families were recorded from the sampling area(6 forest stands ×10 plots in each).Lauraceae with 5 species was the largest family while Quercus(4 species) emerged as the largest ***-area curve(asymptote) predicted more species than the observed number of *** analysis has shown that the two Abies pindrow dominant forest stands had the highest similarity in tree species *** tree stem density ranged from 540-1170 ha-1,basal area 23.01-55.94 m^2 ha-1,ShannonWiener diversity index 1.69-2.49,evenness index0.42-0.74,beta diversity 0.40-0.82 and similarity index 0.17-0.54 in the six studied ***-way indicator species analysis(TWINSpAN) identified four distinct tree communities in the study area with Daphniphyllum himalayense,Abies pindrow,Quercus oblongata,and pinus roxburghii as indicator species of corresponding *** correspondence analysis(CCA) ascertained the TWINSpAN results and revealed the relation of tree species with environmental and edaphic *** phytosociological attributes of tree species varied from one forest stand to another;however,the tree species richness,density,and diversity peaked at intermediate elevation on the north *** reveal that tree composition and diversity in the montane forests of Garhwal Himalaya are influenced by both environmental(elevation and slope aspect)and soil variables(texture,water holding capacity,moisture content,available N,exchangeable p,and pH).This study will help in understanding the forest distribution across the western Himalaya,guiding the conservationists and policymakers in carrying out conservation-related management activities,designing the long-
