Temperature effect on the sensitivity of the copepod Eucyclops serrulatus （Crustacea, Copepoda, Cyclopoida） to agricultural pollutants in the hyporheic zone

The sensitivity of freshwater invertebrates to agricultural pollutants is supposed to increase with rising temperature due to global warming. The aim of this study was to measure the effect of temperature on the lethal toxicity of ammonia-N, the herbicide Imazamox and the mixture of the two chemicals, in the adults and the juveniles of a population of the copepod Eucyc- lops serrulatus. This is a widely di.tributed species found in surface waters, in transitional habitats between surface water and groundwater, and in genuine groundwater environments. We tested the sensitivity by short-term bioassays （96 h） at 15℃ and 18℃, respectively. Our results highlighted the following：（1） increasing temperature affected the sensitivity of the adults to am- monia-N and of the juveniles to the mixture, all of which were more sensitive to its detrimental effects at 18~C; （2） the juvenile stages were more sensitive than the adults to all toxicants, and （3） for all combinations of chemicals and temperatures, the effects were synergistic and approximately one order of magnitude greater than those expected accordi.g to a concentration addi.ion model when comparing the LC50 for each chemical in the mixture with the LC50s of chemicals indi.idually assayed. Overall, in a context of global change, ammonia-N and mixtures of agricultural pollutants may affect the survival rate of species that spend a part or the whole life-cycle in the hyporheic habitat, with detrimental effects to biodi.ersity and ecosystem services provided by the hyporheic biota [Current Zoology 61 （4）： 629~540, 2015].

Application and Validation of a Multi-block Constitutive Model at Landslides of the Wenchuan Earthquake

In this paper,we propose a novel and effective approach,namely GridNet,to hierarchically learn deep representation of 3d point *** incorporates the ability of regular holistic description and fast data processing in a single framework,which is able to abstract powerful features progressively in an efficient ***,to capture more accurate internal geometry attributes,anchors are inferred within local neighborhoods,in contrast to the fixed or the sampled ones used in existing methods,and the learned features are thus more representative and di.criminative to local point *** delivers very competitive results compared with the state of the art methods in both the object classification and segmentation tasks.

Fetal growth restriction(FGR),or intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR),is a complication of pregnancy where the fetus does not achieve its genetic growth *** is characterized by a pathological retardation of intrauterine growth velocity in the curve of intrauterine ***,the FGR definition is still debated,and there is a lack of a uniform definition in the *** IUGR,compared to constitutional smallness,is a pathological condi.ion in which the placenta fails to deliver an adequate supply of oxygen and nutrients to the developing *** with IUGR,compared to appropriately grown gestational age infants,have a significantly higher risk of mortality and neonatal complications with long-term *** studi.s have demonstrated how suboptimal fetal growth leads to long-lasting physiological alterations for the developing fetus as well as for the newborn and adult in the *** long-term effects of fetal growth retardation may be adaptations to poor oxygen and nutrient supply that are effective in the fetal period but deleterious in the long term through structural or functional *** studi.s showed that FGR could be a contributing factor for adult chronic di.eases includi.g cardi.vascular di.ease,metabolic syndrome,di.betes,respiratory di.eases and impaired lung function,and chronic kidney *** this review we di.cussed pathophysiologic mechanisms of FGR-related complications and potential preventive measures for FGR.

An addi.ive dripping technique using di.henyl ether for tuning perovskite crystallization for high-efficiency solar cells

Controlling the morphology of the MAPbI3-xClx active layer has remained a challenge towards advancing perovskite solar cells （PvSCs）. Here, we demonstrate that a low temperature addi.ive dripping （Ad） treatment step, using di.henyl ether （dPE）, can significantly improve the power conversion efficiency （PCE）, compared to the control device using chlorobenzene （CB）, by 15% up to 16.64%, with a high current density （Jsc） of 22.67 mA/cm^2. We chose dPE for its small and appropriate di.ole moment to adjust the solubility of the MAPbI3-xClx precursor during the formation of the intermedi.te phase and the MAPbI3-xClx phase. The low dPE vapor pressure provides a longer processing window for the removal of residual di.ethylformamide （dMF）, during the annealing process, for improved perovskite formation. Imaging and X-ray analysis both reveal that the MAPbI3-xClx film exhibits enlarged grains with increased crystallinity. Together, these improvements result in reduced carrier recombination and hole trap-state density in the MAPbI3-xClx film, while minimizing the hysteresis problem typical of PvSCs. These results show that the Ad approach is a promising technique for improving PvSCs.

Timing the termination of the doushantuo negative carbon isotope excursion: evidence from U-Pb ages from the dengying and Liuchapo formations,South China

The doushantuo negative carbon isotope excursion(dOUNCE) is the largest known marine inorganic carbon isotope anomaly. The origin of this pronounced negative excursion is still an enigmatic issue that attracts geologists. Time constraints on the excursion are the critical information that would provide insight into its genesis. In previous decades, the timing of its termination has been constrained by the widely cited zircon U-Pb age of 550.5 ± 0.8 Ma for the tuff at the top of the Miaohe Member at the Jiuqunao section in the Yangtze Gorges area, South China. However, results of recent studi.s indi.ate that the reliability of this time constraint needs to be re-evaluated. Here, a geochronological study was carried out using two K-bentonites from Fanglong in South China. A K-bentonite in the lower dengying Formation yielded a U-Pb age of 557 ± 3 Ma, while a K-bentonite in the basal Liuchapo Formation yielded an age of 550 ± 3 Ma. Based on regional correlations between the Edi.caran successions in South China,the age(557 ± 3 Ma) for the K-bentonite in the lower dengying Formation may serve as a second critical timing constraint for the endi.g of the dOUNCE. Combined with available estimates of the dOUNCE duration, our new data indi.ate that the dOUNCE has a maximum onset age ～570 Ma.

Space-and time-resolved di.gnostics of the ENEA EUV di.charge-produced-plasma source used for metrology and other applications

A di.charge-produced-plasma(dPP) source emitting in the extreme ultraviolet(EUV) spectral region is running at the ENEA Frascati Research Centre. The plasma is generated in low-pressure xenon gas and efficiently emits 100-ns duration radi.tion pulses in the 10–20-nm wavelength range, with an energy of 20 m J/shot/sr at a 10-Hz repetition rate. The complex di.charge evolution is constantly examined and controlled with electrical measurements, while a nsgated CCd camera allowed observation of the di.charge development in the visible, detection of time-resolved plasmacolumn pinching, and optimization of the pre-ionization timing. Accurately calibrated Zr-filtered PIN di.des are used to monitor the temporal behaviour and energy emission of the EUV pulses, while the calibration of a dosimetric film allows quantitative imaging of the emitted radi.tion. This comprehensive plasma di.gnostics has demonstrated its effectiveness in suitably adjusting the source configuration for several applications, such as exposures of photonic materials and innovative photoresists.
