A Comparison in Laser Precision Drilling of Stainless Steel 304 with Nanosecond and Picosecond Laser Pulses

Precision drilling with picosecond laser has been advocated to significantly improve the quality of micro-holes with reduced recast layer thickness and almost no heat affected ***,a detailed comparison between nanosecond and picosecond laser drilling techniques has rarely been reported in previous *** the present study,a series of micro-holes are manufactured on stainless steel 304 using a nanosecond and a picosecond laser drilling system,*** quality of the micro-holes,e.g.,recast layer,micro-crack,circularity,and conicity,etc,is evaluated by employing an optical microscope,an optical interferometer,and a scanning electron ***,the micro-structure of the samples between the edges of the micro-holes and the parent material is compared following etching *** researching results show that a great amount of spattering material accumulated at the entrance ends of the nanosecond laser drilled *** formation of a recast layer with a thickness of;5μm is detected on the side walls,associated with initiation of *** phenomenon is also observed and the circularity of the micro-holes is rather *** regard to the micro-holes drilled by picosecond laser,the entrance ends,the exit ends,and the side walls are quite smooth without accumulation of spattering material,formation of recast layer and *** circularity of the micro-holes is fairly good without observation of tapering ***,there is no obvious difference as for the micro-structure between the edges of the micro-holes and the parent *** study proposes a picosecond laser helical drilling technique which can be used for effective manufacturing of high quality micro-holes.

Influence of location-dependent protuberance damage on cell viability

The influence of femtosecond laser-induced damages on viability of olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) is investigated. Several cytokinetic processes including cellular damage, recovery and death are discussed. Using femtosecond laser with the power of 100 μW and cutting speed of 2 μm/s, we cut the cellular protuberance with smaller diameter twice in different locations, and then observe the viability of the damaged cells. Under the same conditions, the root of protuberance with larger diameter is cut six times to observe changes of cellular shape. Whether the damage is located in the end, middle or root of protuberance with smaller diameter, the cell viability can recover within 3 h. When the damage is located in the root of protuberance with larger diameter, the damaged cell will die in the way of oncosis. Cytokinetic phenomena including intracellular high Ca2+ concentration, cellular morphologic change, recovery and oncosis are discussed. Meanwhile, high Ca2+ concentration is observed after femtosecond laser surgery. Therefore, femtosecond laser surgery is an important tool for establishing cell damage model and studying cytokinetics.

Stress-corrosion coupled damage localization induced by secondary phases in bio-degradable Mg alloys:phase-field modeling

In this study,a phase-field scheme that rigorously obeys conservation laws and irreversible thermodynamics is developed for modeling stress-corrosion coupled damage(SCCD).The coupling constitutive relationships of the deformation,phase-field damage,mass transfer,and electrostatic field are derived from the entropy *** SCCD localization induced by secondary phases in Mg is numerically simulated using the implicit iterative algorithm of the self-defined finite *** quantitative evaluation of the SCCD of a C-ring is in good agreement with the experimental *** capture the damage localization,a micro-galvanic corrosion domain is defined,and the buffering effect on charge migration is *** cases are investigated to reveal the effect of localization on corrosion acceleration and provide guidance for the design for resistance to SCCD at the crystal scale.

Arginine promotes seed energy metabolism,increasing wheat seed germination at low temperature

Low temperatures during germination inhibit seed growth,lead to small and weak seedlings,and significantly reduce the wheat *** the adverse effects of low temperature on wheat seed germination is highly important for achieving high and stable wheat *** this study,Tongmai 6(insensitive)and Zhengmai 113(sensitive),which have different low-temperature sensitivities during germination were treated with low temperature during *** transcriptome,metabolome and physiological data revealed that low temperature decreased the germination rate,downregulated the expression of a large number of genes involved in regulating glycometabolism,and inhibited carbon,nitrogen(especially amino acids)and energy metabolism in the *** content increased at low temperature,and its increase in the low-temperature-tolerant variety was significantly greater than that in the sensitive *** priming experiment showed that treatment with an appropriate concentration of arginine improved the seed germination *** conversion of starch to soluble sugar significantly increased under exogenous arginine conditions,the content of key metabolites in energy metabolism increased,and the utilization of ATP in the seeds *** together,arginine priming increased seed germination at low temperature by relieving inhibition of seed carbon and nitrogen metabolism and improving seed energy metabolism.

Artificial biomaterials with dynamic mechano-responsive behaviors similar to those of biological tissues have been drawing great *** this study,we report a TiO_(2)-based nanowire(TiO_(2)NWs)scaffolds,which exhibit dynamic mechano-responsive behaviors varying with the number and amplitude of nano-deformation *** is found that the elastic and adhesive forces in the TiO_(2)NWs scaffolds can increase significantly after multiple cycles of *** nanofriction experiments show the triboelectric effect of increasing elastic and adhesive forces during the nano-deformation cycles of TiO_(2)NWs *** properties allow the TiO_(2)NW scaffolds to be designed and applied as intelligent artificial biomaterials to simulate biological tissues in the future.

Application of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to assess effect of conformance control treatments on water-injection wells

As an effective method to prolong the life of mature field,conformance control in water-injection well has been used ***,effect evaluation of conformance control has attracted great attention because it is an important guideline for the design of later enhanced oil recovery(EOR)***,production responses such as excessive water reduction and oil production increment are widely used as the ***,production responses may be unreliable due to the difficulty in determining an effective injection well which is caused by a large number of treated water-injection wells in a well ***,with the application of fuzzy comprehension evaluation(FCE),five evaluation indexes(injection pressure,injectivity index,slope of hall curve,variation coefficient and homogenization coefficient of injection profile)describe injection responses were selected to establish a new evaluation method in this *** on fuzzy mathematics,FCE reflects the difference of evaluation ***,weights of evaluation indexes were obtained by analytic hierarchy process(AHP),which made the results more *** Bai 239 oilfield as an example,the five injection responses indexes were used to assess treatment effect on five water-injection wells by single index evaluation and *** results showed that among the five evaluation indexes mentioned above,the slope of hall curve was the most important factor affected evaluation *** single index evaluation,opposite results may be produced easily on account of the one-sidedness of single index or human ***,we found that effective treatment was a relative concept *** result of FCE was consistent with single index evaluation but FCE was more *** study suggests that FCE could be applied to another field such as water flooding,acidizing and hydraulic fracturing.

Pomegranate peel polyphenols improves diet-induced obesity and promotes adipose browning development through gut microbiota in mice

Gut microbiota regulate the activation of adipose browning， which promote energy dissipation and combat diet-induced obesity. Pomegranate peel polyphenols (PPPs) have been shown to reduce obesity， regulate lipid metabolism in adipose tissue， and modulate the composition of gut microbiota in animal fed high-fat diet (HFD). However， the role of gut microbiota in the improvement of obesity by PPPs has not been elucidated. In current study， we applied antibiotics to inhibit gut microbiota in mice fed HFD and treated with PPPs. The results showed that the inhibition of gut microbiota impair the effect of PPPs on reducing obesity and promoting adipose browning， and change the fecal metabolomic profiles in respond to PPPs. Moreover， the inhibition of gut microbiota supressed the promotive effects of PPPs on the levels of Akkermansia and microbiota-related metabolites， such as urolithin A， short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs)， and bile acids (BAs)， which were associated with activating adipose browning. Therefore， our results suggested that the presence of gut microbiota is essential for PPPs to ameliorate HFD-induced obesity. The related bacteria or metabolites generated by the interaction between PPPs and microbiota promote adipose browning and facilitate the beneficial effects of PPPs.

Pomegranate juice combined with inulin promote their mutual metabolic transformation by gut microbiota and prevent HFD-induced metabolic disorder in rats

High-fat diet (HFD) promotes the imbalance of gut microbiota， contributing to the development of metabolic disorders. Pomegranate juice (PJ) and inulin， as dietary polyphenol and dietary fiber respectively， have been reported to ameliorate diet-induced gut microbiota dysbiosis and metabolic disorders. However， the combined effect of PJ and inulin on HFD-induced metabolic disorders has not been elucidated. In current study， we found that the combination of PJ and inulin prevent HFD-induced obesity， dyslipidemia， and gut microbiota dysbiosis. Moreover， the fecal levels of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by inulin were increased after inulin combined with PJ. The levels of pomegranate polyphenol metabolites produced by PJ were also increased after PJ combined with inulin， especially pharmacokinetic analysis showed that the presence of inulin enhance the absorption level of urolithin A. Fecal metabolomic analysis found that PJ combined with inulin alter the metabolic status compared with PJ. It was also showed that the levels of SCFAs and pomegranate polyphenol metabolites among groups were correlated with gut microbiota and metabolic disorders indicators. Our results suggested that PJ combined with inulin prevent HFD-induced metabolic disorders， which may be attributed to the promotion of mutual metabolic transformation and absorption of PJ and inulin by gut microbiota.

Two-dimensional(2D)carbon nitride sheets(CNs)with atomically thin structures are regarded as one of the most promising materials for solar energy ***,due to their substantially enlarged bandgap caused by the strong quantum size effect and their incomplete polymerisation with a large number of non-condensed surface amino groups,the practical applicability of CNs in photocatalysis is *** this study,CNs with broad visible-light absorption were synthesised using a 5-min fast thermal *** removal of uncondensed amine groups reduces the bandgap of CNs from 3.06 eV to 2.60 eV,increasing their absorption of visible ***,the CNs were distorted after annealing,which can differentiate the spatial positions of electrons and holes,enhancing the visible-light absorption *** a result,when exposed to visible light,the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of atomically thin 2D CNs rose by 8.38 *** research presents a dependable and speedy method for creating highly effective visible-light photocatalysts with narrowed bandgaps and improved visible-light absorption.

Beneficial effects of lacquer seed oil on bromocriptine-induced postpartum hypogalactia in rats

The high incidence of postpartum hypogalactia hinders the healthy development of postpartum women and the next generation. Lacquer seed oil (LSO)， the oil extracted from the seeds of the lacquer tree， has been traditionally used as a dietary supplement for promoting postpartum lactation and recovery in some districts of China. However， its physiological effects have not been verified， and the mechanism and active components of LSO have not been analyzed. Thus， we applied LSO to bromocriptine-induced postpartum hypogalactia rats. The results showed that LSO supplement effectively improves bromocriptine-induced postpartum hypogalactia. LSO also increased prolactin levels reduced by bromocriptine， promoted JAK2/STAT5 and PI3K/AKT pathways and several gene expression levels of milk synthesis in mammary gland. Moreover， metabolomic and network pharmacological analysis further revealed that JAK2/STAT5， PI3K/AKT， and estrogen signaling pathway are the potential main regulatory sites for the beneficial effects of LSO on postpartum hypogalactia， and that quercetin， kaempferol， arachidonic acid， epicatechin， and β-sitosterol are the top 5 main active ingredients of LSO. Our results suggested that LSO has great potential in the application of the improvement of postpartum hypogalactia.
