Supply chain resilience(SCR)refers to a supply chain's(SC's)ability to recover from disruptions timely and effectively.This study uses a combination of contingency and configuration approaches to examine the direct and contingent relationships between SCR dimensions(i.e.,internal,supplier,and customer resilience)and performance.It analyzes survey data collected from 206 Chinese manufacturers.The results show that the three SCR dimensions are positively related to customer satisfaction,whereas customer resilience has no direct contribution to financial performance.Internal resilience moderates the relationship between supplier resilience and performance(negative for customer satisfaction and positive for financial performance).A taxonomy for SCR was developed based on internal,supplier,and customer resilience,providing a holistic perspective for examining the performance discrepancies among four different SCR patterns:high externalleaning,high uniform,medium uniform,and low uniform.These findings offer insights for managers in building SCR from the crisis-management process.

When evaluating an area's seismic risk or resilience,it is necessary to use the spatial correlation to analyze the ground motion parameters of multiple sites together in an earthquake.These two large earthquakes in Türkiye provided the possibility for spatial correlation analysis of ground motion intensity measurements in this area.Based on the strong motion records provided by The disaster and Emergency Management Authority of Türkiye(AFAD),this study uses the local ground motion prediction equation in Türkiye to give spatial correlation analysis of Intensity Measurements.This study gives an exponential model based on a semivariogram and compares it with the correlation model obtained from previous studies.

The utilization of mobile edge computing(MEC)for unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)communication presents a viable solution for achieving high reliability and low latency communication.This study explores the potential of employing intelligent reflective surfaces(IRS)andUAVs as relay nodes to efficiently offload user computing tasks to theMEC server system model.Specifically,the user node accesses the primary user spectrum,while adhering to the constraint of satisfying the primary user peak interference power.Furthermore,the UAV acquires energy without interrupting the primary user’s regular communication by employing two energy harvesting schemes,namely time switching(TS)and power splitting(PS).The selection of the optimal UAV is based on the maximization of the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio.Subsequently,the analytical expression for the outage probability of the system in Rayleigh channels is derived and analyzed.The study investigates the impact of various system parameters,including the number of UAVs,peak interference power,TS,and PS factors,on the system’s outage performance through simulation.The proposed system is also compared to two conventional benchmark schemes:the optimal UAV link transmission and the IRS link transmission.The simulation results validate the theoretical derivation and demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme over the benchmark schemes.

The Portland cement concrete pavement(PCCP) often suffers from different environmental distresses and vehicle load failure, resulting in slab corner fractures, potholes, and other diseases. Rapid repair has become one of the effective ways to open traffic rapidly. In this study, a novel type of rapid repair material, basalt fiber reinforced polymer modified magnesium phosphate cement(BFPMPC), is used to rapidly repair PCCP. Notably, the mechanical properties and characteristics of the repair interfaces which are named interfacial transition zones(ITZs) formed by BFPMPC and cement concrete are focused on as a decisive factor for the performance of the rapid repair. The changing trend of the elastic moduli was studied by nanoindentation experiments in the ITZs with the deconvolution analysis that the elastic moduli of certain kinds of substances can be determined.The experimental results show that the elastic modulus of ITZ-1 with a width of about20 μm can be regarded as 0.098 times of the aggregate, and 0.51 times of the ordinary Portland cement(OPC) mortar. The BFPMPC-OPC mortar ITZ has roughly the same mechanical properties as the ITZ between aggregate and BFPMPC. A multi-scale representative two-dimensional model was established by random aggregate and a two-dimensional extended finite element method(XFEM) to study the mechanical properties of the repair interface. The simulation results show that the ITZ formed by the interface of BFPMPC and OPC mortar and basalt aggregate is the most vulnerable to failure, which is consistent with the nano-indentation experimental results.

The geospatial distribution pattern in traditional Chinese settlements(TCSs)reflects the traditional harmony between humans and nature,which has been learned over centuries.However,TCSs have experienced serious disturbances by urbanization and migration.It is crucial to explore the local wisdom of geospatial patterns and dominant factors for TCSs at the national scale in China.This study sought to determine the geospatial wisdom of traditional settlements to enrich our future settlement development with the aim of establishing Chinese settlement values for modern living.Herein,a dataset of 4000 TCSs were analyzed and clustered for environmental factors that affect their geospatial patterns by machine learning algorithms.We concluded that(1)five geospatial patterns of TCSs were clustered on a national scale,and the threshold of environmental factors of TCS groups was detected.(2)Environmental conditions and settlement concepts interacted and determined the similarities and differences among TCS groups.(3)The key boundary for TCSs and the dominant factors for each zone were determined,and topographical conditions and hydrologic resources played significant roles in all five TCS zones.This study provides a better understanding of the adaptability of the environment in relation to the TCSs and aids in planning TCS conservation and rural revitalization.

Application and Validation of a Multi-block Constitutive Model at Landslides of the Wenchuan Earthquake

A multi-block model and a corresponding computer program have been developed which predict the kinematics of landslides.Furthermore,a unique event for studying different models simulating the triggering and movement of landslides is the 2008Wenchuan earthquake in the mountainous region in Sichuan Province of China,which caused a large number of rapid landslides.The purpose of the paper is two-fold:(a)to propose and incorporate into the multi-block model constitutive relations predicting soil response along slip surfaces,and(b)to apply the multi-block model with the constitutive relations at landslides triggered by the Wenchuan earthquake.The proposed constitutive equations predict the shape of the shear stress-displacement response measured in ring shear tests.In the application,four landslides caused by the Wenchuan earthquake were considered.Only in one of these landslides the shear resistance-displacement response along the slip surface has been measured in laboratory tests.At this landslide,the triggering and movement of the landslide was predicted.In the other landslides,back analyses were performed and it was observed that the multi-block model predicted reasonably well the final configuration of all slides.In addition,as the measured and back-estimated total friction angle of all landslides was less than 180,and the materials along the slip surface were sandy,it is inferred that some,or all of the slip surface during these slides was sheared in an undrained manner and excess pore pressures generated during sliding played a key role in the triggering and movement of these landslides.Concluding,the paper(A)proposed and validated a multi-block constitutive model which can be applied to predict the triggering and movement of earthquake-induced slides and(B)by analyzing four landslides of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake,it concludes that some,or all of the slip surface during these slides,was sheared in an undrained manner and excess pore pressures generated during sliding played a key role in the triggering and m

As part of“The Earth Summit Mission-2022”during the second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research(STEP)in April and May 2022,we conducted the ozone sounding experiment(an ozonesonde mated to a radiosonde)at Mt.Qomolangma Base Camp(MQBC;86.85°E,28.14°N;5200 m),a location at an extremely high altitude.A total of ten sounding profiles were obtained between April 30 and May 06,2022,of which seven profiles were above35 km in altitude,with a maximum detection altitude up to 39.0 km.This study presents the temporal variation and vertical distributions of atmospheric temperature,humidity,and ozone during the MQBC campaign.The averaged ozone concentration was high(68.3 ppbv)at the surface and then increased smoothly until peaking(~110 ppbv)in the middle troposphere(approximately 10 km),and afterward,the ozone concentration increased rapidly from the upper troposphere to a maximum of~10 ppmv at~30 km.The enhanced ozone concentration in the middle troposphere was associated with the blocking high pressure,and transport from the southern flank of the Himalayas occurred during the campaign period.The average total ozone column was 291.9±21.4 DU for the seven profiles exceeding 35km in altitude.The ozonesonde measurements were also compared with the vertical ozone profiles retrieved from the space-borne ozone products from the Microwave Limb Sounder(MLS)onboard the Aura satellite and the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder(AIRS)onboard the Aqua satellite.

Cadmium(Cd)is a non-essential toxic heavy metal,seriously posing high environmental risks to human health.digging genetic resources relevant to functional genes is important for understanding the metal absorption and accumulation in crops and bioremediation of Cd-polluted environments.This study investigated a functionally uncharacterized ATP binding cassette transporter G family(ABCG)gene encoding a Pleiotropic Drug Resistance 20(PDR20)type metal transporter which is localized to the plasma membrane of rice.OsPDR20 was transcriptionally expressed in almost all tissues and organs in lifespan and was strongly induced in roots and shoots of young rice under Cd stress.Ectopic expression of OsPDR20 in a yeast mutant ycf1 sensitive to Cd conferred cellular tolerance with less Cd accumulation.Knockdown of OsPDR20 by RNA interference(RNAi)moderately attenuated root/shoot elongation and biomass,with reduced chlorophylls in rice grown under hydroponic medium with 2 and 10μmol/L Cd,but led to more Cd accumulation.A field trial of rice grown in a realistic Cd-contaminated soil(0.40 mg/kg)showed that RNAi plants growth and development were also compromised compared to wild-type(WT),with smaller panicles and lower spikelet fertility but little effect on yield of grains.However,OsPDR20 suppression resulted in unexpectedly higher levels of Cd accumulation in rice straw including lower leaves and culm and grain.These results suggest that OsPDR20 is actively involved in Cd accumulation and homeostasis in rice crops.The increased Cd accumulation in the RNAi plants has the potential application in phytoremediation of Cd-polluted wetland soils.

Highly entangled hydrogels exhibit excellent mechanical properties,including high toughness,high stretchability,and low hysteresis.By considering the evolution of randomly distributed entanglements within the polymer network upon mechanical stretches,we develop a constitutive theory to describe the large stretch behaviors of these hydrogels.In the theory,we utilize a representative volume element(RVE)in the shape of a cube,within which there exists an averaged chain segment along each edge and a mobile entanglement at each corner.By employing an explicit method,we decouple the elasticity of the hydrogels from the sliding motion of their entanglements,and derive the stress-stretch relations for these hydrogels.The present theoretical analysis is in agreement with experiment,and highlights the significant influence of the entanglement distribution within the hydrogels on their elasticity.We also implement the present developed constitutive theory into a commercial finite element software,and the subsequent simulations demonstrate that the exact distribution of entanglements strongly affects the mechanical behaviors of the structures of these hydrogels.Overall,the present theory provides valuable insights into the deformation mechanism of highly entangled hydrogels,and can aid in the design of these hydrogels with enhanced performance.
