This study presents the Chebyshev polynomials-based Ritz method to examine the thermal buckling and free vibration characteristics of metal foam beams.The analyses include three models for porosity distribution and two scenarios for thermal distribution.The material properties are assessed under two conditions,i.e.,temperature dependence and temperature independence.The theoretical framework for the beams is based on the higher-order shear deformation theory,which incorporates shear deformations with higher-order polynomials.The governing equations are established from the Lagrange equations,and the beam displacement fields are approximated by the Chebyshev polynomials.numerical simulations are performed to evaluate the effects of thermal load,slenderness,boundary condition(BC),and porosity distribution on the buckling and vibration behaviors of metal foam beams.The findings highlight the significant influence of temperature-dependent(Td)material properties on metal foam beams'buckling and vibration responses.

The influence of variable viscosity and double diffusion on the convective stability of a nanofluid flow in an inclined porous channel is investigated.The darcyBrinkman model is used to characterize the fluid flow dynamics in porous materials.The analytical solutions are obtained for the unidirectional and completely developed flow.Based on a normal mode analysis,the generalized eigenvalue problem under a perturbed state is solved.The eigenvalue problem is then solved by the spectral method.Finally,the critical Rayleigh number with the corresponding wavenumber is evaluated at the assigned values of the other flow-governing parameters.The results show that increasing the darcy number,the Lewis number,the dufour parameter,or the Soret parameter increases the stability of the system,whereas increasing the inclination angle of the channel destabilizes the flow.Besides,the flow is the most unstable when the channel is vertically oriented.

Anomalous ion heat transport is analyzed in the T-10 tokamak plasma heated with electron cyclotron resonance heating(ECRH) in second-harmonic extra-ordinary mode. Predictive modeling with empirical scaling for Ohmical heat conductivity shows that in ECRH plasmas the calculated ion temperature could be overestimated, so an increase of anomalous ion heat transport is required. To study this effect two scans are presented: over the EC resonance position and over the ECRH power. The EC resonance position varies from the high-field side to the low-field side by variation of the toroidal magnetic field. The scan over the heating power is presented with on-axis and mixed ECRH regimes. discharges with high anomalous ion heat transport are obtained in all considered regimes. In these discharges the power balance ion heat conductivity exceeds the neoclassical level by up to 10 times. The high ion heat transport regimes are distinguished by three parameters: the ratio Te/Ti, the normalized electron density gradient R/■, and the ion–ion collisionality νii~*. The combination of high Te/Ti, high νii~*, and R/■=6-10 results in values of normalized anomalous ion heat fluxes up to 10 times higher than in the low transport scenario.

Traumatic brain injury is followed by a cascade of dynamic and complex events occurring at the cellular level. These events include: diffuse axonal injury, neuronal cell death, blood-brain barrier break down, glial activation and neuroinflammation, edema, ischemia, vascular injury, energy failure, and peripheral immune cell infiltration. The timing of these events post injury has been linked to injury severity and functional outcome. Extracellular vesicles are membrane bound secretory vesicles that contain markers and cargo pertaining to their cell of origin and can cross the blood-brain barrier. These qualities make extracellular vesicles intriguing candidates for a liquid biopsy into the pathophysiologic changes occurring at the cellular level post traumatic brain injury. Herein, we review the most commonly reported cargo changes in extracellular vesicles from clinical traumatic brain injury samples. We then use knowledge from animal and in vitro models to help infer what these changes may indicate regrading cellular responses post traumatic brain injury. Future research should prioritize labeling extracellular vesicles with markers for distinct cell types across a range of timepoints post traumatic brain injury.

Mucopolysaccharidoses typeⅢB is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the gene that encodes for n-acetyl-alpha-glucosaminidase.This results in the aggregation of heparan sulfate polysaccharides within cell lysosomes that leads to progressive and severe debilitating neurological dysfunction.Current treatment options are expensive,limited,and presently there are no approved cures for mucopolysaccharidoses typeⅢB.Adeno-associated virus gene therapy has significantly advanced the field forward,allowing researchers to successfully design,enhance,and improve potential cures.Our group recently published an effective treatment using a codon-optimized triple mutant adeno-associated virus 8 vector that restores n-acetyl-alpha-glucosaminidase levels,auditory function,and lifespan in the murine model for mucopolysaccharidoses typeⅢB to that seen in healthy mice.Here,we review the current state of the field in relation to the capsid landscape,adeno-associated virus gene therapy and its successes and challenges in the clinic,and how novel adenoassociated virus capsid designs have evolved research in the mucopolysaccharidoses typeⅢB field.

In recent years,the notion of resilience has been developed and applied in many technical areas,becoming exceptionally pertinent to disaster risk science.during a disaster situation,accurate sensing information is the key to efficient recovery efforts.In general,resilience aims to minimize the impact of disruptions to systems through the fast recovery of critical functionality,but resilient design may require redundancy and could increase costs.In this article,we describe a method based on binary linear programming for sensor network design balancing efficiency with resilience.The application of the developed framework is demonstrated for the case of interior building surveillance utilizing infrared sensors in both twoand three-dimensional spaces.The method provides optimal sensor placement,taking into account critical functionality and a desired level of resilience and considering sensor type and availability.The problem formulation,resilience requirements,and application of the optimization algorithm are described in detail.Analysis of sensor locations with and without resilience requirements shows that resilient configuration requires redundancy in number of sensors and their intelligent placement.Both tasks are successfully solved by the described method,which can be applied to strengthen the resilience of sensor networks by design.The proposed methodology is suitable for large-scale optimization problems with many sensors and extensive coverage areas.

Kazakhstan is currently drafting new construction regulations that comply with the major provisions of the Eurocodes.Such regulations are created on the basis of seismic zoning maps of various degrees of detail,developed by our Institute of Seismology using a new methodological approach for Kazakhstan.The article is about creating the first normative map of the detailed Seismic Zoning on a probabilistic foundation for the Republic of Kazakhstan’s East Kazakhstan region.We carried out the probabilistic assessment of seismic hazard using a methodology consistent with the main provisions of Eurocode 8and updated compared with that used in developing maps of Kazakhstan’s General Seismic Zoning and seismic microzoning of Almaty.The most thorough and current data accessible for the area under consideration were combined with contemporary analytical techniques.Updates have been done to not only the databases being used but also the way seismic sources were shown,including active faults now.On a scale of 1:1000000,precise seismic zoning maps of the East Kazakhstan region were created for two probabilities of exceedance:10%and 2%in 50 years in terms of peak ground accelerations and macroseismic intensities.The obtained seismic hazard distribution is generally consistent with the General Seismic Zoning of Kazakhstan’s previous findings.However,because active faults were included and a thoroughly revised catalog was used,there are more pronounced zones of increased danger along the fault in the western part of the region.In the west of the territory,acceleration values also increased due to a more accurate consideration of seismotectonic conditions.Zoning maps are the basis for developing new state building regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)are attracting increasing interests as photocatalysts for solar-driven hydrogen production from water.This paper reports on a comparative study of using either acetic acid(AA)or trifluoroacetic acid(TFA)as the representative UiO-66 organic modulators for synthesizing visible light responsive UiO-66(Zr)-X(X:nH_(2) or nO_(2))photocatalysts for water splitting.The results show that photocatalytic hydrogen generation from a water/methanol mixture can be improved by varying the nature and amount of the modulator employed to prepare the different UiO-66(Zr)-X(X:nH_(2) or nO_(2))solid derivatives.UiO-66(Zr)-nH_(2) was the most active photocatalyst,followed by UiO-66(Zr)-nO_(2),both prepared with 12 equivalents of AA with respect to the organic ligand.This UiO-66(Zr)-nH_(2) solid was more active than the parent MOF in photocatalytic overall water splitting(OWS)(H_(2) and O_(2) production of 450 and 160μmol·g^(-1),respectively,in 5 h;apparent quantum yield(AQY)at 400 nm of 0.06%)in the absence of methanol and compares favourably with analogous reports.Information on the photocatalytic activity of the most active solids of both series was obtained by means of a series of techniques,including ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)diffuse reflectance,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),laser flash photolysis(LFP),electron spin resonance(ESR),photoluminescence and photoelectrochemical measurements together with density functional theory(dFT)calculations.The results showed that organic acid modulators can be used to enhance the photocatalytic activity of missing linker UiO-66 defective materials in solar-powered water splitting.

The halopyrimidine 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine(BrdU)is an exogenous marker of dnA synthesis.Since the introduction of monoclonal antibodies against BrdU,an increasing number of methodologies have been used for the immunodetection of this synthesized bromine-tagged base analogue into replicating dnA.BrdU labeling is widely used for identifying neuron precursors and following their fate during the embryonic,perinatal,and adult neurogenesis in a variety of vertebrate species including birds,reptiles,and mammals.due to BrdU toxicity,its incorporation into replicating dnA presents adverse consequences on the generation,survival,and settled patterns of cells.This may lead to false results and misinterpretation in the identification of proliferative neuroblasts.In this review,I will indicate the detrimental effects of this nucleoside during the development of the central nervous system,as well as the reliability of BrdU labeling to detect proliferating neuroblasts.Moreover,it will show factors influencing BrdU immunodetection and the contribution of this nucleoside to the study of prenatal,perinatal,and adult neurogenesis.Human adult neurogenesis will also be discussed.It is my hope that this review serves as a reference for those researchers who focused on detecting cells that are in the synthetic phase of the cell cycle.
