The development of some computational algorithms based on cellular automaton was described to simulate the structures formed during the solidification of steel *** algorithms described take results from the steel thermal behavior and heat removal previously calculated using a simulator developed by present authors in a previous *** time is used for displaying the steel transition from liquid to mushy and *** it is also used to command computational subroutines that reproduce nucleation and grain *** routines are logically programmed using the programming language C＋＋ and are based on a simultaneous solution of numerical methods （stochastic and deterministic） to create a graphical representation of different grain structures *** grain structure obtained is displayed on the computer screen using a graphical user interface （GUI）.The chaos theory and random generation numbers are included in the algorithms to simulate the heterogeneity of grain sizes and morphologies.

This work is focused on the development of computational algorithms to create a simulator for solving the heat transfer during the continuous casting process of steel. The temperatures and the solid shell thickness profiles were calculated and displayed on the screen for a billet through a defined continuous casting plant （CCP）. The algorithms developed to calculate billet temperatures, involve the solutions of the corresponding equations for the heat removal conditions such as radiation, forced convection, and conduction according to the billet posi- tion through the CCP. This is done by a simultaneous comparison with the kinematics model previously developed. A finite difference method known as Cmnk-nicholson is applied to solve the two-dimensional computational array （2d model）. Enthalpy （HIJ） and temperature （TIL） in every node are updated at each step time. The routines to display the results have been developed using a graphical user interface （GUI） in the programming language C＋＋. Finally, the results obtained are compared with those of industrial trials for the surface temperature of three steel casters with different plant configurations in different casting conditions.

A description of a mathematical algorithm for simulating grain structures with straight and hyperbolic interfaces is shown. The presence of straight and hyperbolic interfaces in many grain structures of metallic materials is due to different solidification conditions, in- eluding different solidification speeds, growth directions, and delaying on the nucleation times of each nucleated node. Grain growth is a complex problem to be simulated; therefore, computational methods based on the chaos theory have been developed for this purpose. Straight and hyperbolic interfaces are between columnar and equiaxed grain structures or in transition zones. The algorithm developed in this work involves random distributions of temperature to assign preferential probabilities to each node of the simulated sample for nucleation according to previously defined boundary conditions. Moreover, more than one single nucleation process can be established in order to gen- erate hyperbolic interfaces between the grains. The appearance of new nucleated nodes is declared in sequences with a particular number of nucleated nodes and a number of steps for execution. This input information influences directly on the final grain structure （grain size and dislribution）. Preferential growth directions are also established to obtain equiaxed and columnar grains. The simulation is done using rou- tines for nucleation and growth nested inside the main function. Here, random numbers are generated to place the coordinates of each new nucleated node at each nucleation sequence according to a solidification probability. nucleation and growth routines are executed as a func- tion of nodal availability in order to know if a node will be part of a grain. Finally, this information is saved in a two-dimensional computa- tional array and displayed on the computer screen placing color pixels on the corresponding position forming an image as is done in cellular automaton.

Olfactory ensheathing glia promote axonal regeneration in the mammalian central nervous system,including retinal ganglion cell axonal growth through the injured optic ***,it is unknown whether olfactory ensheathing glia also have neuroprotective *** ensheathing glia express brain-derived neurotrophic factor,one of the best neuroprotectants for axotomized retinal ganglion ***,we aimed to investigate the neuroprotective capacity of olfactory ensheating glia after optic nerve *** ensheathing glia cells from an established rat immortalized clonal cell line,TEG3,were intravitreally injected in intact and axotomized retinas in syngeneic and allogeneic mode with or without microglial inhibition or immunosuppressive *** and gene expression analyses were *** bulb-derived primary olfactory ensheathing glia and TEG3 express major histocompatibility complex classⅡ*** and syngenically transplanted TEG3 cells survived in the vitreous for up to 21 days,forming an *** axotomized retinas,only the allogeneic TEG3 transplant rescued retinal ganglion cells at 7 days but not at 21 *** these retinas,microglial anatomical activation was higher than after optic nerve crush *** intact retinas,both transplants activated microglial cells and caused retinal ganglion cell death at 21 days,a loss that was higher after allotransplantation,triggered by pyroptosis and partially rescued by microglial inhibition or ***,neuroprotection of axotomized retinal ganglion cells did not improve with these *** different neuroprotective properties,different toxic effects,and different responses to microglial inhibitory treatments of olfactory ensheathing glia in the retina depending on the type of transplant highlight the importance of thorough preclinical studies to explore these variables.

Computational models are developed to create grain structures using mathematical algorithms based on the chaos theory such as cellular automaton, geometrical models, fractals, and stochastic methods. Because of the chaotic nature of grain structures, some of the most popular routines are based on the Monte Carlo method, statistical distributions, and random walk methods, which can be easily programmed and included in nested loops. nevertheless, grain structures are not well defined as the results of computational errors and numerical incon- sistencies on mathematical methods. due to the finite definition of numbers or the numerical restrictions during the simulation of solidifica- tion, damaged images appear on the screen. These images must be repaired to obtain a good measurement of grain geometrical properties. Some mathematical algorithms were developed to repair, measure, and characterize grain structures obtained from cellular automata in the present work. An appropriate measurement of grain size and the corrected identification of interfaces and length are very important topics in materials science because they are the representation and validation of mathematical models with real samples. As a result, the developed al- gorithms are tested and proved to be appropriate and efficient to eliminate the errors and characterize the grain structures.

The scale-free and small-world properties are studied in detail for the complex earthquake networks constructed from the seismic data sets taken from California (USA), Japan, Iran and Chile. It is found that, in all these geographical regions, both the exponent / of the power-law connectivity distribution and the clustering coefficient C take the universal invariant values /≈1 and C≈0.85, respectively, as the cell size, which is the scale of coarse graining needed for construction of network, becomes larger than a certain value. A possible physical interpretation is given to the emergence of such remarkable invariance.

The role played by serendipity in the origin of modern psychopharmacology has proven to be controversial in scientific *** its original meaning(Walpole),serendipity refers to discoveries made through a combination of accidents and *** have implemented an operational definition of serendipity based on finding something unexpected or unintended,regardless of the systematic process that led to the accidental observation,and we have established four different patterns of serendipitous *** this paper,we have analyzed the role of serendipity in the discovery and development of classical antidepressant drugs,tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors as well as heterocyclic,“atypical”or“second generation”*** discovery of the antidepressant properties of imipramine and iproniazid,the prototypes of tricyclic antidepressants and monoamine oxidase inhibitors,respectively,fits the mixed type II pattern;initial serendipitous discoveries(imipramine was an antipsychotic and iproniazid was an antituberculosis agent)led secondarily to non-serendipitous *** the other components of these two families of drugs were developed specifically as antidepressants,modifying the chemical structure of the series leaders,thereby allowing all of them to be included in the type IV pattern,characterized by the complete absence of *** the heterocyclic drugs,mianserin(originally developed as an antihistamine)also falls into the type II pattern.

Processing bioactive peptides from natural sources using electrodialysis with ultrafiltration membranes(EdUF)have gained attention since it can fractionate in terms of their charge and molecular *** is a pseudo-cereal highlighted by its high protein content,amino acid profile and adapting growing *** present work aimed at the production of quinoa peptides through fractionation using EdUF and to test the fractions according to antihypertensive and antidiabetic *** data showed the production of peptides ranging between 0.4 and 1.5 k ***(CQPF)(3.01%),anionic(AQPF)(1.18%)and the electrically neutral fraction quinoa protein hydrolysate(QPH)-EdUF(~95%)were ***-vitro studies showed the highest glucose uptake modulation in L6 cell skeletal myoblasts in presence of QPH-EdUF and AQPF(17%and 11%)indicating potential antidiabetic *** antihypertensive effect studied in-vivo in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR),showed a decrease in systolic blood pressure in presence of the fractionated peptides,being 100 mg/kg a dose comparable to Captopril(positive control).These results contribute to the current knowledge of bioactive peptides from quinoa by reporting the relevance of EdUF as tool to produce selected peptide ***,further characterization is needed towards peptide sequencing,their respective role in the metabolism and scaling-up production using EdUF.
