Megaloblastic pernicious anemia is an autoimmune disorder, considered rare in African context. The objective of this study was to report four clinical cases collected at the CHUR/OHG, and to review the literature. The study population consisted of two men and two women. The clinical manifestations were mainly neurological and hematological. The neurological signs were mainly paresthesia. One patient presented memory problems. On the biological level, macrocytic anemia and vitamin B12 deficiency were reported in two cases prior to treatment while the other two without serological assay of vitamin B12 were put on trial treatment. Anti-intrinsic factor antibodies were positive in three patients. The Schilling test was not used. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed atrophic fundic gastritis in all four patients who received treatment through intramuscular injection of hydroxocobalamin (vitamin B12). The evolution was favorable after one month of treatment in all cases. The literature review is dominated by clinical case reports, the largest cohorts of which are from the Maghreb.

AIM:To investigate the prevalence of visual impairment(VI)and provide an estimation of uncorrected refractive errors in school-aged children,conducted by optometry students as a community ***:The study was *** 3343 participants were included in the *** initial examination involved assessing the uncorrected distance visual acuity(UdVA)and visual acuity(VA)while using a+2.00 d *** inclusion criteria for a subsequent comprehensive cycloplegic eye examination,performed by an optometrist,were as follows:a UdVAdecimal(0.20 logMAR)and/or a VA with+2.00 d≥0.8 decimal(0.96 logMAR).RESUlTS:The sample had a mean age of 10.92±2.13y(range 4 to 17y),and 51.3%of the children were female(n=1715).The majority of the children(89.7%)fell within the age range of 8 to *** the ethnic groups,the highest representation was from the luhya group(60.6%)followed by luo(20.4%).Mean logMAR UdVA choosing the best eye for each student was 0.29±0.17(range 1.70 to 0.22).Out of the total,246 participants(7.4%)had a full eye *** estimated prevalence of myopia(defined as spherical equivalent≤-0.5 d)was found to be 1.45%of the total *** around 0.18%of the total sample had hyperopia value exceeding+1.75 *** astigmatism(cild)was found in 0.21%(7/3343)of the *** VI prevalence was 1.26%of the total *** our cases of VI,76.2%could be attributed to uncorrected refractive *** was detected in 0.66%(22/3343)of the screened *** was no statistically significant correlation observed between age or gender and refractive ***:The primary cause of VI is determined to be uncorrected refractive errors,with myopia being the most prevalent refractive error *** findings underscore the significance of early identification and correction of refractive errors in school-aged children as a means to alleviate the impact of VI.

Tire particles(TPs)are a major source of microplastic on land,and considering their chemical composition,they represent a potential hazard for the terrestrial *** studied the effectsof TPs at environmentally relevant concentrations alongawide concentrationgradient(0–160 mg g^(-1))and tested the effects on plant growth,soil pH and the key ecosystem process of litter decomposition and soil *** addition of TPs negatively affected shoot and root growth already at low *** litter decomposition slightly increased with lower additions of TPs but decreased.l.ter *** pH increased until a TP concentration of 80 mg g^(-1) and.l.veled off *** respiration clearly increased with increasing concentration of added *** growth was likely reduced with starting contamination and stopped when contamination reached a certain level in the *** presence of TPs altered a number of biogeochemical soil parameters that can have further effects on plant *** the quantities of yearly produced TPs,their persistence,and toxic potential,we assume that these particles will eventually have a significant impact on terrestrial ecosystems.

In multiple heterogeneous networks, developing a mod.l.that considers both individual and shared structures is crucial for improving estimation efficiency and interpretability. In this paper,we introduce a semi-parametric individual network autoregressive mod.l. We allow autoregression and regression coefficients to vary across networks with subgroup structure, and integrate both covariates and node relationships into network dependence using a single-index structure with unknown links. To estimate all individual and commonly shared parameters and functions, we introduce a novel penalized semiparametric approach based on the generalized method of moments. Theoretically, our proposed semiparametric estimator for heterogeneous networks exhibits estimation and selection consistency under regular conditions. Numerical experiments are conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed estimator. The proposed method is applied to analyze patient distribution in hospitals to further demonstrate its utility.

This study presents experimental evidence of the dependence of non-radiative recombination processes on the electron-phonon coupling of perovskite in perovskite solar cells(PSCs).Via A-site cation engineering,a weaker electron-phonon coupling in perovskite has been achieved by introducing the structurally soft cyclohexane methylamine(CMA^(+))cation,which could serve as a damper to alleviate the mechanical stress caused by lattice oscillations,compared to the rigid phenethyl methylamine(PEA^(+))*** demonstrates a significantly lower non-radiative recombination rate,even though the two types of bulky cations have similar chemical passivation effects on perovskite,which might be explained by the suppressed carrier capture process and improved.l.ttice geometry *** resulting PSCs achieve an exceptional power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 25.5%with a record-high opencircuit voltage(V_(OC))of 1.20 V for narrow bandgap perovskite(FAPbI_(3)).The established correlations between electron-phonon coupling and non-radiative decay provide design and screening criteria for more effective passivators for highly efficient PSCs approaching the Shockley-Queisser limit.

dear Editor,We read with interest the article by Han et al[1]in which they retrospectively assessed the effect of bicanalicular intubation for functional epiphora after a failed endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy(dCR).They confirmed the post-dCR“functional obstruction”based on fluorescein dye disappearance(FddT)and irrigation test[1].
