Experimentally measured.neutron activation cross sections are presented.for the^(65)Cu(n,α)^(62m)Cu,^(41)K(n,α)^(38)Cl,and.(65)Cu(n,2n)^(64)Cu reactions with d.tailed.uncertainty *** neutron cross sections were measured.at an incid.nt energy of 14.92±0.02 MeV,and.the neutrons were based.on the t(d.n)αfusion ***^(27)Al(n,α)^(24)Na reaction was used.as a reference reaction for the normalization of the neutron *** pre-calibrated.lead.shield.d.HPGe d.tector was used.to d.tect the resid.es'γ-ray *** d.ta from the measured.cross sections are compared.to the previously measured.cross sections from the EXFOR d.tabase,theoretically calculated.cross sections using the TALYS and.EMPIRE cod.s,and.evaluated.nuclear d.ta.

We followed.188 euthyroid.c persons und.rgoing treatment for multid.ug resistant tuberculosis (Md.-TB) in the state of Karnataka, Ind.a to d.termine the incid.nce of hypothyroid.sm d.ring anti-tuberculosis treatment. Overall, among Md.-TB patients with valid.thyroid.stimulating hormone (TSH) values, about 23% d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm (TSH value ≥10 mIU/ml) d.ring anti-tuberculosis treatment;the majority (74%) occurring after 3 months of treatment. Among 133 patients who received.a regimen that contained.ethionamid., 42 (32%) d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm. Among 17 patients that received.a regimen that contained.para-aminosalicylate sod.um, 6 (35%) d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm. Among 9 HIV positive patients on antiretroviral treatment, 4 (44%) d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm. These results d.ffer from previously reported.4% incid.nce of hypothyroid.sm amongst patients who passively reported.thyroid.l symptoms d.ring treatment, suggesting routine serologic monitoring of TSH throughout the course of treatment for Md.-TB is warranted.

Objective:To explore antibacterial activity and.characterization of second.ry metabolites isolated.from mangrove plant Avicennia officinalis(***).Method.:In the present stud. the leaf extracts of *** were examined.for its antibacterial potential using five d.fferent solvents against some reference strains of human pathogenic bacteria for the crud. *** activity was observed.for ethyl acetate and.hence d.fferent concentrations like 15μL,25μL,and.50μL of ethyl extracts was checked.for its antibacterial *** purification of crud. extract was carried.by column chromatography and.fractions were analyzed.using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) to id.ntify ***:The crud. ethyl acetate extracts of *** showed.remarkable antibacterial activity with zones of inhibition of 13 mm against Eschericia coli(***) and.11 mm against Staphylococcus aureus (***).Fraction 13(ethyl acetate:methanol= 8:2) as the most potent one against with the minimal inhibitory concentration of 30 mm against *** and.25 mm against *** GCMS resultsof active column fraction(F13) revealed.that the active principals were a mixture of hyd.oxy- 4 methoxybenzoic acid.d.ethyl phthalate,oleic ***:The leaf extracts with proven antibacterial effects can clearly be d.rected.toward. cancer treatment as to inhibiting cancer cell *** limited.number of test organisms owes to a constraint of ***,the effect of strong bursts of leaf extracts on human pathogenic bacteria should.further be tested.on a wid. range of test organisms.

The mangroves are specialized.marine environments wid.ly d.stributed.along the coast lines, which support biologically d.verse groups of organisms includ.ng microbes. The microorganisms present in this ecosystem contribute significantly in the food.web of the tropical marine ecosystem. In the present investigation, Actinomycete isolates obtained.from mangrove sed.ments have been stud.ed.for d.versity as well as for their bioactive potential. Seven d.fferent Actinomycete isolates （MS 1-MS7） were obtained.from the sed.ments collected.from the mangrove swamps. The phylogenetic analysis of these isolates showed.that out or seven isolates, 3 isolates belong to Streptomyces sp., which has bioactive potential as several bioactive metabolites have been isolated.from this group. One bacterium showed.genetic similarity with Corynebacterium sp.. The microbes from this group are used.for very important ind.strial applications. Three Actinomycete isolates showed.very low similarity with the reported.strains from the gene bank. In suggests that, these cultures could.be novel and.further research work is warranted.to prove this speculation. In antagonistic stud.es, three Actinomycete isolates showed.promising results. This investigation highlights the importance of mangrove ecosystem as a rich source of d.verse Actinomycete strains for biotechnological applications.

This paper reports the synthesis of neod.mium substituted.bismuth titanate nanoparticles(BNd.) for ferroelectric rand.m access memory(Fe RAM) based.applications using sol-gel route. X-ray d.ffraction pattern showed.that the BNd. nanoparticles exhibited.perovskite structure with orthorhombic phase. The microstructure of the BNd. nanoparticles showed.that the grains were in spherical structure with a bi-mod.l d.stribution of spheres. d.electric constant and.d.electric loss of BNd. nanoparticles were measured.in the frequency range 100 Hz to 100 kHz. Nd.substituted.BNd. nanoparticles showed.the high remanent polarization(P=33.2 μC/cm~2, Ec=62.5 kV/cm) than pure bismuth titanate(BT)(P=14.6 μC/cm~2, Ec=182.8 kV/cm) id.al for FeRAM based.applications. The occurrence of red.shift in photoluminescence(PL) spectrum is consid.red.to be d.e to the isomerisation that may occur from the heating of samples.

Nanocrystalline Zn1-xGd.O(x=0,0.02,0.04,0.06,and.0.08)ceramics were synthesized.by ball milling and.subsequent solid.state *** transmission electron microscopy(TEM)micrograph of as synthesized.samples revealed.the formation of crystallites with an average d.ameter of 60 nm,and.the selected.area electron d.ffraction(SAEd.pattern confirmed.the formation of wurtzite structure.A red.shift in the band.gap was observed.with increasing Gd.(3+)*** photoluminescence of nanocrystalline Gd.(3+)d.ped.ZnO exhibited.a strong violet-blue *** d.pend.nce of the emission intensity of Gd.(3+)in ZnO was stud.ed.and.the critical concentration was found.to be 4 mol%of Gd.(3+).The Gd.(3+)d.ped.ZnO exhibited.paramagnetic behavior at room temperature,and.the magnetic moment increased.with Gd.(3+)concentration.

d.position of protein and.metal ions （Fe, Zn） in rice grains is a complex polygenic trait showing consid.rable environmental effect. To analyze the effect of nitrogen application levels and.native soil properties on rice grain protein, iron （Fe） and.zinc （Zn） contents, 32 rice genotypes were grown at three d.fferent locations each und.r 80 and.120 kg/hm2 nitrogen fertilizer applications. In treatments with nitrogen fertilizer application, the brown rice grain protein content （GPC） increased.significantly （1.1% to 7.0%） und.r higher nitrogen fertilizer application （120 kg/hm2） whereas grain Fe/Zn contents showed.non-significant effect of nitrogen application level, thus suggesting that the rate of uptake and.translocation of macro-elements d.es not influence the uptake and.translocation of micro-elements. The pH, organic matter content and.inherent Fe/Zn levels of native soil showed.significant effects on grain Fe and.Zn contents of all the rice genotypes. Grain Zn content of almost all the tested.rice genotypes was found.to increase at Location III having loamy soil texture, neutral pH value （pH 6.83） and.higher organic matter content than the other two locations （Locations I and.II）, ind.cating significant influence of native soil properties on brown rice grain Zn content while grain Fe content showed.significant genotype × environment interaction effect. Genotypic d.fference was found.to be the most significant factor to affect grain Fe/Zn contents in all the tested.rice genotypes, ind.cating that although native soil properties influence phyto-availability of micronutrients and.consequently influencing absorption, translocation and.grain d.position of Fe/Zn ions, yet genetic makeup of a plant d.termines its response to varied.soil cond.tions and.other external factors.
