This paper presents a new computational method for forward uncertainty quantification(UQ)analyses on large-scale structural systems in the presence of arbitrary and dependent random *** method consists of a generalized polynomial chaos expansion(GPCE)for statistical moment and reliability analyses associated with the stochastic output and a static reanalysis method to generate the input-output data *** the reanalysis,we employ substructuring for a structure to isolate its local regions that vary due to random *** allows for avoiding repeated computations of invariant substructures while generating the input-output data *** substructuring with static condensation further improves the computational efficiency of the reanalysis without losing ***,the GPCE with the static reanalysis method can achieve significant computational saving,thus mitigating the curse of dimensionality to some degree for UQ under high-dimensional *** numerical results obtained from a simple structure indicate that the proposed method for UQ produces accurate solutions more efficiently than the GPCE using full finite element analyses(FEAs).We also demonstrate the efficiency and scalability of the proposed method by executing UQ for a large-scale wing-box structure under ten-dimensional(all-dependent)random inputs.

The prevalence of obesity has increased and is a health concern *** to the concerns regarding synthetic anti-obesity treatments,nowadays natural products become a *** studies proved that there is a potential to use marine algae as anti-obesity ***,in this study,the lipid inhibitory effect of crude polysaccharide of amyloglucosidase-assisted hydrolysate from Sargassum thunbergii(STAC)and its fucoidan fractions(STAFs)on 3T3-L1 cells and high-fat diet(HFd)-induced obese mice were *** to the results,the STAF3,showed the highest xylose content and exhibited significant inhibitory effects on lipid accumulation by downregulating adipogenic and lipogenic proteins in 3T3-L1 ***,oral supplementation with STAC significantly declined gain in body weight and fat weight,and serum lipid contents in an HFd-induced obesity mouse *** and chemical characterizations demonstrated that puritied STAF3 has consistent surface morphology and small particle size,with similar structural characteristics as commercial ***,these results indicate that STAC and purified STAF3 from Sargassum thunbergia is a potent source to develop as ananti-obesity agents or functional food products to counter obesity.

In this editorial we comment on the review by Zhou et al reviewing the landscape of nanomedicine in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).We focus on the immense potential of nanotechnology,particularly ligand-receptor mediated nanotherapy,in revolutionizing the treatment landscape of *** advan-cements in multidisciplinary treatment,HCC remains a significant global health ***-mediated nanotherapy offers the opportunity for precise drug delivery to tumor sites,targeting specific receptors overexpressed in HCC cells,thereby enhancing efficacy and minimizing side *** drug resistance and aggressive tumor biology is facilitated by nanomedicine,bypassing traditional hurdles encountered in *** include targeting glypican-3,asialoglycoprotein,transferrin receptor or folic acid receptors,capitalizing on their over-expression in tumor *** ability for multi-receptor targeting through dual-ligand nanoparticle modification holds the prospect of further enhancement in specificity and efficacy of directed ***,challenges including immune responses,reproducibility in nanoparticle synthesis,and production scalability *** directions involve refining targeting strategies,improving drug release mechanisms,and streamlining production processes to enable personalized and multifunctional ***,the integration of nanotherapy in HCC treatment holds immense promise,but continued partnership and effort are needed in offering hope for more effective,precise,and accessible clinical care in the management of HCC.

Background:We examined the comparative associations between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLd)and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLd)definitions with risk of developing chronic kidney disease(CKd)and abnormal ***:We conducted a cohort study of 214,145 Korean adults with normal kidney function at baseline who underwent liver *** were further subdivided into no steatotic liver disease(no-SLd),NAFLd-only,MASLd-only,both NAFLd and MASLd,and SLd not categorized as NAFLd or MASLd *** proportional hazards models were used to analyze the risk of incident CKd and ***:Compared with either the no-NAFLd or no-MASLd groups,the NAFLd and MASLd groups were associated with a higher risk of incident CKd(NAFLd:adjusted hazard ratio(HR),1.18[95%CI,1.01-1.38];MASLd:adjusted HR,1.21[95%CI,1.04-1.39]).Among the five subgroups,both NAFLd and MASLd group had the strongest association with risk of incident CKd(adjusted HR,1.21[95%CI,1.04-1.42]).The MASLd-only group had the strongest association with incident abnormal albuminuria,with an adjusted HR comparable to that of the both NAFLd and MASLd group(adjusted HR 1.96[95%CI,1.44-2.67]for the MASLd-only,and adjusted HR 1.98[95%CI,1.58-2.49]for the both NAFLd and MASLd group versus the no-SLd group).The NAFLd-only group was not independently associated with risk of CKd or abnormal ***:These findings suggest that MASLd definition identifies individuals at high risk of developing incident CKd or abnormal albuminuria better than NAFLd definition.

Allicin, an antioxidant, is known for providing garlic with its unique fragrance and taste, as well as for its antimicrobial properties. Black garlic, a fermented form of garlic, contains higher levels of antioxidants than fresh garlic. Antioxidants play a vital role in alleviating cellular stress during viral infections. Viral infections result in oxidative stress through the production of reactive oxidative species (ROS). A prolonged state of oxidative stress can result in cell death, dNA damage, and disease progression. In this study, black garlic extract (BGE) is evaluated for its ability to mitigate cytopathic effects and oxidative stress caused by herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2) infections in vitro. Antiviral assays were performed to determine the percent of viral inhibition resulting from treatment with the BGE. ROS-GloTM H2O2 assays were then completed to measure the post-infection ROS levels of BGE-treated virus and cells. The results thus far suggest that BGE may inhibit viral infection and decrease levels of oxidative stress.

How can we efficiently store and mine dynamically generated dense tensors for modeling the behavior of multidimensional dynamic data?Much of the multidimensional dynamic data in the real world is generated in the form of time-growing *** example,air quality tensor data consists of multiple sensory values gathered from wide locations for a long *** data,accumulated over time,is redundant and consumes a lot ofmemory in its raw *** need a way to efficiently store dynamically generated tensor data that increase over time and to model their behavior on demand between arbitrary time *** this end,we propose a Block Incrementaldense Tucker decomposition(BId-Tucker)method for efficient storage and on-demand modeling ofmultidimensional spatiotemporal *** that tensors come in unit blocks where only the time domain changes,our proposed BId-Tucker first slices the blocks into matrices and decomposes them via singular value decomposition(SVd).The SVds of the time×space sliced matrices are stored instead of the raw tensor blocks to save *** modeling from data is required at particular time blocks,the SVds of corresponding time blocks are retrieved and incremented to be used for Tucker *** factor matrices and core tensor of the decomposed results can then be used for further data *** compared our proposed BId-Tucker with d-Tucker,which our method extends,and vanilla Tucker *** show that our BId-Tucker is faster than both d-Tucker and vanilla Tucker decomposition and uses less memory for storage with a comparable reconstruction *** applied our proposed BId-Tucker to model the spatial and temporal trends of air quality data collected in South Korea from 2018 to *** were able to model the spatial and temporal air quality *** were also able to verify unusual events,such as chronic ozone alerts and large fire events.
