Contradiction and consistency:Deconstruction of landscape bridges based on multiple temporal-spatial scales

This study explores the essential issues pertaining to a landscape bridge based on a multi-scale methodology,in view of the paucity of design theories for contemporary landscape *** contribute to reinterpret landscape bridges on their physical temporal-spatial scales,instead of from perspectives of individual disciplines or their mechanical *** in a new systematized framework,we elaborate the dominant and their opposite counterparts of landscape bridges from a binary deconstruction point of view,i.e.,(1)Development and retrogression on the temporal scale,(2)connection and separation on the spatial topographic scale,(3)skyphilia and topophilia on the spatial landscape scale,and(4)extroversion and introversion on the spatial architectural *** deconstructed multifaceted scales are instrumental in understanding landscape bridges from various perspectives,with a pyramid model proposed afterward to mediate the discovered oppositions and stimulate the cross-scale *** possible design paths could be derived from this well-organized and openminded multiple system,which is initially expected in this study to inspire bridge designers with dissimilar backgrounds and calls for a wider ramification.

Since the events of 9/11 and the so-called ＂war on terror＂, ＂Muslim＂ has been used synonymously with ＂terrorist＂ dividing particularly those Muslims living in the West into either ＂good＂ Muslims or ＂bad＂ Muslims. Ed Husain in his memoir The Islamist uses this dichotomy as well as that of the ＂witness＂ in presenting himself as a credible analyst in answering why some young Muslims become attracted to fundamentalist Islamist groups hostile to the West. Ed Husain is a second generation of British Asian Muslim who rejected the Sufi political quietism of his parents for the revolutionary ideologies of Islamic ＂ideologues＂ such as Abul A＇la Maududi, Sayyid Qutb, and particularly Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani, joining Hizb-ut-Tahrir as an active member. Ed Husain＇s story is one of a fractured past, manhood, the search for an authentic Islam, and becoming British.

The pursuit of this paper is to collect principal reviews and systematic reviews about hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC) and cytoreductive surgery(CRS) used in colorectal cancer(CRC).We focus on principal biological aspects of CRC,hyperthermia effects,and surgical *** searched PubMed/MEDLINE for the principal reviews and systematic reviews published from 2010 to 2021 regarding the bimodal treatment(CRS + HIPEC) against local and advanced *** the literature,from several studies,it seems that the efficacy of bimodal treatment with an accurate CRS can extend overall *** these studies,there are not still any straight guidelines more detailed and scheduled about the use of combined treatment in patients with *** if the concept is still not very clear and shared,after a careful evaluation of the published data,and after some technical and pathophysiological descriptions,we concluded that it is possible to improve the overall survival and quality of life and to reduce the tumor relapse in patients affected by locally advanced(pT4) CRC with peritoneal metastases.

Progressive osseous heteroplasia(POH)is an ultra-rare autosomal dominant disabling disorder characterized by heterotopic ossification(HO).It is caused by heterozygous inactivating mutations in the GNAS(guanine nucleotide-binding protein alpha-stimulating activity polypeptide)***,the molecular mechanisms underlying HO remain poorly *** a treatment for POH is not yet available,the identification of the mechanisms driving POH in affected tissues using gene expression may be of great help to underestand the molecular basis of POH and develop new therapeutic approaches.

Solitary caecal diverticulum is an uncommon entity and therefore it is difficult to diagnose except during surgery exploration. It is extremely difficult to differentiate it preoperatively from acute appendicitis. We report a case of an enlarged colon segment, presenting macroscopically as tumor diverticulum in a 27-year-old female patient, presenting with a 2 day history of a severe abdominal right lower quadrant pain with accompanying anorexia, nausea, vomiting and high body temperature. After clinical assessment, laboratory examination, X-ray, and CT are performed, the indication for surgical treatment is set.

AIM: To investigate putative biological damage caused by GSM mobile phone frequencies by assessing electromagnetic fields during mobile phone working. METHODS: Neuron-like cells, obtained by retinoicacid-induced differentiation of human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells, were exposed for 2 h and 4 h to microwaves at 1800 MHz frequency bands. RESULTS: Cell stress response was evaluated by MTT assay as well as changes in the heat shock protein expression (Hsp20, Hsp27 and Hsp70) and caspase-3 activity levels, as biomarkers of apoptotic pathway. Under our experimental conditions, neither cell viability nor Hsp27 expression nor caspase-3 activity was significantly changed. Interestingly, a significant decrease in Hsp20 expression was observed at both times of exposure, whereas Hsp70 levels were significantly increased only after 4 h exposure. CONCLUSION: The modulation of the expression of Hsps in neuronal cells can be an early response to radiofrequency microwaves.

The ongoing research on pioneering drug candidates for the overactive bladder （OAB） aimed to overcome the limitations of currently licensed pharmacotherapies, such as antimuscarinics, β3-adrenergic agents, and botulinum neurotoxin, has been reviewed performing a systematic literature review and web search. The review covers the exploratory agents alternative to available medications for OAB and that may ultimately prove to be therapeutically useful in the future mana-gement of OAB patients based on preclinical and early clinical data. It emerges that many alternative pharmacological strategies have been discovered or are under investigation in disease-oriented studies. Several potential therapeutics are known for years but still fnd obstacles to pass the clinical stages of development, while other completely novel compounds, targeting new pharmacological targets, have been recently discovered and show potential to translate into clinical therapeutic agents for idiopathic and neurogenic OAB syndrome. The global scenario of investigational drugs for OAB gives promise for the development of innovative thera-peutics that may ultimately prove effective as first, combined or second-line treatments within a realistic timescale of ten years.

Relationship between maternal pathology and infant social withdrawal: Analysis of a 268-outpatient population

Objective: Sustained withdrawal is a sign of infant distress and may be determined by extreme conditions like organic pathology or relationship problems. The Alarm Distress Baby Scale is the best instrument to identify withdrawal in infants between 2 and 24 months of age. The aim of this study was to assess the association between infant social withdrawal behavior and maternal pathology in the perinatal period. Method: The target sample of the study was 134 mother-child couples examined at the Policlinico Agostino Gemelli General Pediatric Outpatient Clinic and Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, in Rome. We analyzed the relationship between withdrawal behavior and psychological and organic prenatal/postnatal pathology, using the Chi Square exact test. Results: When the mother suffers from both organic and psychological pathologies in the perinatal period, the risk of withdrawal is increased: the probability of infant withdrawal behavior is increased by maternal organic postnatal pathology by 14 times, by maternal psychological postnatal pathology by 9 times, and by maternal psychological postnatal depression, measured by Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, by almost 4 times. Conclusion: Increased or sustained withdrawal reactions can be observed in unsatisfactory mother-child interaction. Maternal risk factors should be strictly considered in the pediatric clinical evaluation.
