The extant Cabrera’s vole,microtus cabrerae,differs in morphology and evolutionary history from the other species of *** arvicoline has unique derived features in the cranium,mandible and ***bly its most conspicuous features are its large size,the high skull in lateral view,the long and distally broad nasals,and the triangle shape of the anteroconid complex,with a marked labio-lingual asymmetry of the occlusal surface of the first lower *** this study,we propose a phylogenetic lineage that includes Cabrera’s vole in what until now has been the microtus subgenus *** information and several life history traits support the elevation of Iberomys to the rank of *** Iberomys comprises species that have appeared in succession during the Quaternary:in the Early Pleistocene,the extinct *** in the middle Pleistocene,the extinct *** and in the Late Pleistocene,the extant ***,the extant species shows several biological singularities,such as multiple polymorphic copies of the SRY male-specific gene in both males and females,and the lowest basal metabolic rate in relation to weight among arvicoline ***,its habitat requirement is unique among the Iberian ***,the biological and paleontological data that we present in this work support the elevation of its taxonomic rank to that of ge*** study also suggests a modification of nomenclature:microtus(Iberomys)brecciensis is replaced with *** and the common name of the extant m.(I.)cabrerae changed from‘topillo’to‘iberon’to improve conservation and protection actions.

In this note we first introduce the finite weak Herstein condition, which is a property that holds for every finite field. For a field F satisfying the finite weak Herstein condition, we then characterize whether all the finite-dimensional division F-algebras are commutative. This gives an alternate proof of Wedderburn＇s Theorem.

Background: Pediatric casualties account for a notable proportion of encounters in the deployed setting based on the humanitarian medical care mission. Previously published data demonstrates that an age-adjust shock index may be a useful tool in predicting massive transfusion and death in children. We seek to determine if those previous findings are applicable to the deployed, combat trauma ***: We queried the Department of Defense Trauma Registry(DODTR) for all pediatric subjects admitted to US and Coalition fixed-facility hospitals in Iraq and Afghanistan from January 2007 to January 2016. This was a secondary analysis of casualties seeking to validate previously published data using the shock index, pediatric age adjusted. We then used previously published thresholds to determine patients outcome for validation by age grouping, 1–3 years(1.2), 4–6 years(1.2), 7–12 years(1.0), 13–17 years(0.9).Results: From January 2007 through January 2016 there were 3439 pediatric casualties of which 3145 had a documented heart rate and systolic pressure. Of those 502(16.0%) underwent massive transfusion and 226(7.2%) died prior to hospital discharge. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) thresholds were inconsistent across age groups ranging from 1.0 to 1.9 with generally limited area under the curve(AUC) values for both massive transfusion and death prediction characteristics. Using the previously defined thresholds for validation, we reported sensitivity and specificity for the massive transfusion by age-group: 1–3(0.73, 0.35), 4–6(0.63, 0.60), 7–12(0.80, 0.57), 13–17(0.77, 0.62). For death, 1–3(0.75, 0.34), 4–6(0.66–0.59), 7–12(0.64, 0.52), 13–17(0.70, 0.57). However, negative predictive values(NPV) were generally high with all greater than ***: Within the combat setting, the age-adjusted pediatric shock index had moderate sensitivity and relatively poor specificity for predicting massive transfusion and death. Canine herpesvirus (CHV-1) causes disease associated with high mortality in infect-ed puppies, which represents large financial losses for dog breeders. Since CHV-1 at the time of the study he had not been reported in mexico, the main objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of antibodies against CHV-1 in canine kennels in the metropolitan area of mexico City. A commercial enzyme-linked immuno-sorbent assay (ELISA) was used, and the results were compared to those of a viral neutralization test. The ELISA kit uses the complete viral particle as the antigen. The plaque reduction neutralization test was combined with the immunoperoxidase technique because of the low cytopathic effect of CHV-1. Neutralizing antibodies were also detected in 20 randomly selected samples. The prevalence of CHV-1 with ELISA was 87%. The concordance between ELISA and serum neutralization (SN) was 0.1129, the sensitivity of the ELISA against SN was 1.0 (100%), the positive predic-tive value was 0.39 (39%), and the negative predictive value was 1 (100%). These results show that ELISA is useful for monitoring the dog population for CHV-1;a positive test result requires confirmation with an SN test, and a negative ELISA result indicates a high probability of being SN-negative. The only variables that were sta-tistically associated with CHV-1 prevalence were breed and kennel. A statistically significant relationship between the degree of ELISA and SN titer was obtained, with a confidence level of 95%. None of the clinical presentation factors was statistically significant. These results suggest that most of the canine population studied in mex-ico is in a herpesvirus latency state.

A characteristic common to herpesviruses is the ability to establish a latent infection in the hosts, a transcriptionally active region has detected during latency as well as a set of RNA that are known as Latency Associated Transcripts (LATs), their functions have been clarified in recent work. The present work was carried using different bioinformatics method in order to determine if Herpesvirus Canine 1 (CHV-1) has a region associated with latency. Our result was the selection of nine sequences candidate of micro RNA (miRNA) (mIREval 2.0 software), and 26 miRNA (miRNAFold v.1.0 software), of them, were selected 14 with real precursors of miRNA, two were found between the RL2 and RS1 genes, one in the RL2 gene and 11 in the RS1 gene. The results showed that the similarities of these regions are very low among the herpesviruses analyzed, so it was not possible to deduce the presence of the LAT gene in canine herpesvirus type 1 with bioinformatics. On the other hand, the comparison showed that the miRNA predicted: chv1-mir-mirnafold-8 has similarity with the ebv-mir-BART7-3p of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), in this way, the microRNAs predicted by means of bioinformatic programs met the theoretical requirements of these molecules, however at not having a degree of preservation in other herpesviruses, the expression by CHV-1 in latency cannot be confirmed and it is necessary to identify through experimental tests.

The use of constructed wetlands to treat municipal wastewater reduces energy consumption and therefore economic costs,as well as reduces environmental *** purpose of this study was to compare the purification capacity of domestic wastewater using two species of plants sown in subsurface constructed wetlands with vertical flow built on a small scale that received municipal wastewater with primary *** species used were Phragmites Australis and Cyperus *** this purpose,a constant flow of 0.6 m3 day-1 was fed from the primary lagoon to each of the two wetlands built on a pilot scale with continuous *** unit was filled with granite gravel in the lower part and with silicic sand in the upper part of different granulometry,the porosity of the medium was 0.34,with a retention time of 1.12 days and a hydraulic load rate of 0.2 m *** analyze the purification capacity of wastewater,physical,chemical and biological parameters were monitored during three *** were taken at the entrance and exit in each experimental *** results obtained in the experimental tests for the two species of plants,indicated that the Cyperus Papyrus presented a greater capacity of pollutants removal as biochemical oxygen demand (80.69%),chemical oxygen demand (69.87%),ammoniacal nitrogen (69.69%),total phosphorus (50%),total coliforms (98.08%) and fecal coliforms (95.61%).In the case of Phragmites Australis retains more *** species with greater efficiency in the treatment of municipal wastewater for this study was Cyperus Papyrus.

AIm: To determine the association of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) CagA+ infection and pro-inflammatory poly-morphisms of the genes interleukin (IL)-1RN and IL-1B with the risk of gastric atrophy and peptic ulcers in a dyspeptic population in Costa Rica, a country with high incidence and mortality of gastric cancer. mETHODS: Seven biopsy specimens, a fasting blood sample and a questionnaire concerning nutritional and sociodemographic factors were obtained from 501 con-secutive patients who had undergone endoscopy for dyspeptic symptoms. A histopathological diagnosis was made. Pepsinogen concentrations were analyzed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Infection with H pylori CagA+ was determined by serology and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). IL-1B and IL-1RN polymorphisms genotyping was performed by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP)and PCR respectively. RESULTS: In this dyspeptic population, 86% were H pylori positive and of these, 67.8% were positive for CagA. Atrophic antral gastritis (AAG) was associated with CagA+ status [odd ratio (OR) = 4.1; P mption (OR = 0.3; P mption (OR = 7.3; P moking (OR = 2.4; P mmatory cytokine poly-morphisms IL-1B + 3945 and IL-1RN are not associated with the atrophic lesions of this dyspeptic population.

Objective:To analyze LASIK retreatment-induced changes in the posterior corneal curvature(PCC) with undersurface ablation of the flap(UAF) and in-the-bed ***:Nonrandomized,comparative,interventional ***:Forty-six eyes with a residual spherical equivalent refraction between-0.37 and-2.75 diopters(D) and astigmatism between 0.0 and-1.25 D were included *** 23 eyes,the calculated postenhancement flap thickness exceeded 150 μ m using micropachymetric optical coherence tomography,whereas with further ablation of the bed,the residual bed thickness(RBT) would have beenm,orment RBT exceeding 250 μ m,>55% of the pre-LASIK central ***:Eyes with insufficient RBT for further ablation underwent UAF retreatment,whereas those with adequate RBT received conventional in-the-bed LASIK *** were performed before retreatment and 3 and 6 months *** eye was lost to *** Outcome measures:micropachymetry,Orbscan II scanning-slit PCC data,and visual acuity(VA) .Results:The groups did not differ in age,intraocular pressure,or retreatment ablation depth,but the UAF eyes had a lower mean pre-retreatment RBT(270.7± 25.4 μ m) than conventional enhancement eyes(353.0± 41.5 μ m) (P=0.001) .Eyes undergoing UAF had no significant change in PCC,whereas eyes undergoing conventional retreatment had an increase in the posterior corneal power within the central 3-mm zone(P=0.008) 3 months after *** significant changes occurred *** amount of change in posterior corneal power within the 3 mm central zone from before to after retreatment differed significantly between the groups(mean difference,0.135 D;95% confidence interval,0.022-0.248 D;P=0.02) .No keratectasia developed clinically,and no retreated eye lost or gained ≥ 2 lines of best-corrected VA.S
