Introduction In Brazil,approximately 5%are born with a congenital disorder,potentially fatal without *** study aims to evaluate the relationship between gastrointestinal congenital malformation(GICM)mortality,health indicators,and socioeconomic factors in *** GICM admissions(Q39-Q45)between 2012 and 2019 were collected using national *** demographics,socioeconomic factors,clinical management,outcomes,and the healthcare workforce density were also accounted *** Surgical Workforce density and the number of neonatal intensive care units in a region were extracted from national datasets and combined to create a clinical index termed'NeoSurg'.Socioeconomic variables were combined to create a socioeconomic index termed SocEcon'.Simple linear regression was used to investigate if the temporal changes of both indexes were *** correlation between mortality and the different indicators in Brazil was evaluated using Pearson's correlation *** Over 8 years,Brazil recorded 12804 GICM *** Southeast led with 6147 cases,followed by the Northeast(2660),South(1727),North(1427),and Midwest(843).The North and Northeast reported the highest mortality,lowest NeoSurg,and SocEcon Index ***,mortality rates declined across regions from 7.7%(2012)to 3.9%(2019),a 51.7%*** North and Midwest experienced the most substantial reductions,at 63%and 75%,*** significantly correlated with the indexes in nearly all regions(pdeterminants of health and GICM mortality in Brazil,using two novel indexes in the pediatric *** findings provide an opportunity to rethink and discuss new indicators that could enhance our understanding of our country and could lead to the development of necessary solutions to tackle existing challenges in Brazil and globally.

Cell walls in plants,particularly forest trees,are the major carbon sink of the terrestrial *** and biosynthetic features of plant cell walls were revealed early on,focusing mostly on herbaceous model *** developments in genomics,transcriptomics,epigenomics,transgenesis,and associated analytical techniques are enabling novel insights into formation of woody cell ***,we review multilevel regulation of cell wall biosynthesis in forest tree *** highlight current approaches to engineering cell walls as potential feedstock for materials and energy and survey reported field tests of such engineered transgenic *** outline opportunities and challenges in future research to better understand cell type biogenesis for more efficient wood cell wall modification and utilization for biomaterials or for enhanced carbon capture and storage.

The present study aimed to determine whether natural dehydrated feed (DNF) can replace dry extruded feed while preserving the required daily intake, nutrient digestibility and benefits for immunity and antioxidant response in cats. The animals were divided into two groups of seven animals each. One group received DNF, and the other consumed commercial extruded dry feed (DCF). The experiment lasted 45 days and we measured daily consumption and collected blood and feces samples. The animals in the DNF group showed greater digestibility of fiber and mineral matter than DCF. Cats in the DNF group had a higher volume of feces. DNF cats had lower leukocyte and granulocyte counts and cholesterol levels. Serum enzymatic antioxidant responses and non-enzymatic were higher in DNF cats. Cats in the DNF group showed lower serum acute phase proteins in addition to a tendency toward a higher concentration of transferrin than in the DCF group. Fecal Escherichia coli and total coliform counts of cats fed DNF were higher than DCF. We conclude that the daily consumption of cats is adequate. This feed had greater digestibility of fiber and mineral matter, in addition to an improvement in antioxidant and immunological responses.

Information about extreme rainfall is lacking in regions of South America and *** study attempts to fill this scientific gap by use of a gridded parameterization for the stochastic weather generator,CLIGEN,to map depth-duration-frequency(DDF)*** of 500-year point-scale precipitation time series generated at each grid point allowed maps of return period precipitation to be produced for a se-lection of sixteen durations ranging from 10-min to 1-year and for nine return periods from 2 to 500 *** generalized extreme value(GEV)probability distribution was fitted for all durations,and given GEV quantiles,an interpolation method was applied to produce maps at 0.1° resolution that better resolve small-scale spatial climate *** addition to uncertainties related to GEV fitting,this study quantifies prediction intervals based on ground *** validation was important for identifying biases in CLIGEN,although uncertainties were not always satisfactorily defined due to sampling design and other *** daily/multi-day durations,100 stations with daily observations and ≥50-year records were selected for validation against the 0.1° CLIGEN map series,resulting in a median and average absolute error of 13%and 16%,*** sub-daily durations,prediction errors were larger *** analogy using available *** established the degree of bias in CUGEN for sub-daily durations,and three records in Brazil with high temporal resolutions were used to confirm that applied bias adjustments resulted in error ranges similar to the daily/multi-day *** atlas is freely available for study of extreme precipitation.

Sufficient fault ride-through(FRT)of large wind power plants(WPPs)is essential for the operation security of transmission *** majority of studies on FRT do not include all disturbances originating in the transmission system or the disturbances irrelevant to the operation *** on the knowledge of power quality,this paper provides a guide to stakeholders in different aspects of FRT for wind turbines(WTs)and *** paper details the characteristics of the most common disturbances originated in the transmission system,how they propagate to the WT terminals,and how they impact the dynamic behavior of a large *** paper shows that the details of the voltage disturbances,not only in the transmission system,but also at the WT terminals,should be taken into ***,a detailed representation or characterization of voltage dips is important for FRT studies,despite that the simplified models used in the literature are *** paper strongly recommends that distinct events and additional characteristics such as the phase-angle jump and oscillations in the transition segments should be considered in FRT analysis.

Noninvasive Respiratory Strategies in Patients with Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure and COVID-19 in Gabon: A Prospective Observational Study

Importance: The best respiratory support technique to reduce intubation and mortality in patients with respiratory failure due to COVID-19 is controversial. Objective: To determine the respiratory support technique that could reduce the need for tracheal intubation and mortality in patients with respiratory failure due to COVID-19 admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) of Military’s Hospital (HIAOBO) in Gabon. design, Setting, and Participants-Methodology: Prospective observational study over 10 months (January 2021-October 2021). We included patients admitted to intensive care for SARS Cov2 pneumonia who had benefited from available ventilatory support: high concentration face mask, High Flow Nasal cannula (HFNC), NIV (Non Invasive Ventilation), Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP). The choice was guided by the clinical condition, and the choice of the prescribing physicians. Recourse to mechanical ventilation was decided when faced with a Glasgow score of less than 13, an SpO2/FiO2 ratio ≤ 300, a FR ≥ 35/min, the impossibility of drainage of secretions. Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was the proportion of patients requiring intubation. The secondary outcomes were mortality in ICU. Results: The sample included 97 patients, the average age was55.6 years, hypertension was the main comorbidity (51.1%). Mean respiratory rate (RR) was 30.8 cycles/min, admission SpO2 was 83%, respiratory alkalosis was present in 63% of patients, mean CT involvement was 51%.Respiratory support was NIV (56.7%), CPAP (21.65%), high concentration face mask (18.55%). Sixteen percent (16%) of patients were intubated, 93% of them following failure of NIV. Mortality was 30%, mechanical ventilation was an independent risk factor for mortality. Conclusions: Non Invasive Ventilation, CPAP, and high-concentration face mask were frequently used in patients with COVID-related acute respiratory failure. Polymorphisms of the TLR2 and TLR4 genes are associated with risk of gastric cancer in a Brazilian population

AIM： TO investigate toll-like receptor 2 （TLR2） -196 to -274 del, and TLR4 （＋896A/G rs4986790 and ＋1196C/ T rs4986791） polymorphisms at risk of chronic gastritis and gastric cancer in a Brazilian population and associ-ation of gastric lesions with risk factors such as smoking, alcohol intake and Helicobacter pylori infection.METHODS： In this casecontrol study, polymorphism at TLR2 -96 to -174 del was investigated by using the allele-specific polymerase chain reaction （PCR） method, while the PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique was carried out to identify the TLR4 （rs4986790 and rs4986791） genotypes in 607 Brazilian individuals （208 with chronic gastritis-CG, 174 with gastric cancer-GC and 225 controls -C）.RESULTS： The single nucleotide polymorphisms TLR4＋1196ClT was not associated with risk of chronic gastritis or gastric cancer and the homozygous genotypes TLR4＋896GG and TLR4＋1196TF were absent in the studied population. However, the frequency of TLR2 -196 to -174 ins/del ＋ del/del and TLR4＋896AGgenotypes was significantly higher （P 〈 0.01 and P = 0.01, respectively） in the cancer group （33.4% and 11.5%, respectively） than in the control group （16.9% and 4.5%, respectively）. It was also observed that the G-C haplotype of the TLR4＋896A/G＋1196C/T （P = 0.02） and the combination of variant alleles of the TLR21TLR4＋896G （P = 0.02） are associated with susceptibility to gastric cancer. In addition, the multiple logistic regression showed that male gender [odds ratio （OR） = 2.70; 95% CI： 1.66-4.41; P 〈 0.01], alcohol intake （OR = 2.93; 95% CI： 1.76-4.87, P 〈 0.01）, TLR2 -196 to -174 del （OR = 2.64; 95% CI： 1.56-4.44; P 〈 0.01） and TLR4＋896G （OR = 3.19; 95% CI： 1.34- 7.61; P 〈 0.01） polymorphisms were associated with a higher susceptibility to developing this neoplasm.CONCLUSION： Our data indicate that T/R2 -196 to -174 del and TLR4＋896G may increase the risk of gastric cancer in a Brazilian population.

AIM: To establish whether virulence factor genes vacA and cagA are present in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) retrieved from gastric mucosa and dental plaque in pa-tients with dyspepsia. METHODS: Cumulative dental plaque specimens and gastric biopsies were submitted to histological exami-nation, rapid urease test and polymerase chain reac-tion (PCR) assays to detect the presence of cagA and vacA ***: detection of H. pylori from dental plaque and gastric biopsy samples was greater by PCR com-pared to histological examination and the rapid ure-ase test. DNA from H. pylori was detected in 96% of gastric mucosa samples and in 72% of dental plaque samples. Sixty-three (89%) of 71 dental plaque sam-ples that were H. pylori-positive also exhibited identical vacA and cagA genotypes in gastric mucosa. The most common genotype was vacAs1bm1 and cagA positive, either in dental plaque or gastric mucosa. These viru-lent H. pylori isolates were involved in the severity of clinical ***: These pathogenic strains were found simultaneously in dental plaque and gastric mucosa, which suggests that gastric infection is correlated with the presence of H. pylori in the mouth.

Partition coefficient prediction of Baker's yeast invertase in aqueous two phase systems using hybrid group method data handling neural network

A hybrid GMDH neural network model has been developed in order to predict the partition coefficients of invertase from Baker's yeast. ATPS experiments were carried out changing the molar average mass of PEG(1500–6000 Da), p H(4.0–7.0), percentage of PEG(10.0–20.0 w/w), percentage of MgSO_4(8.0–16.0 w/w), percentage of the cell homogenate(10.0–20.0 w/w) and the percentage of MnSO_4(0–5.0 w/w) added as cosolute. The network evaluation was carried out comparing the partition coefficients obtained from the hybrid GMDH neural network with the experimental data using different statistical metrics. The hybrid GMDH neural network model showed better fitting(AARD = 32.752%) as well as good generalization capacity of the partition coefficients of the ATPS than the original GMDH network approach and a BPANN model. Therefore hybrid GMDH neural network model appears as a powerful tool for predicting partition coefficients during downstream processing of biomolecules.
