Fruit size and shape are critical agronomical and pomological attributes and prime targets in peach breeding *** from the flat peach type,a Mendelian trait well-characterized at the genetic level,ample diversity of fruit size and shapes is present across peach ***,knowledge of the underlying genomic loci remains *** this work,fruit size and shape were assessed in a collection of non-flat peach accessions and selections,under controlled fruit load *** architecture of these traits was then dissected by combining association and linkage mapping,revealing a major locus on the proximal end of chromosome 6(qSHL/Fs6.1)explaining a large proportion of phenotypic variability for longitudinal shape and also affecting fruit size.A second major locus for fruit longitudinal shape(qSHL5.1),probably also affecting fruit size,was found co-localizing at locus G,suggesting pleiotropic effects of peach/nectarine *** additional QTL for fruit longitudinal shape(qSHL6.2)was identi fied in the distal end of chromosome 6 in a cross with an ornamental double-flower peach and co-localized with the Di2 locus,controlling flower *** assisting breeding activities,knowledge of loci controlling fruit size and shape paves the way for more in-depth studies aimed at the identification of underlying genetic variant(s).

In this work, a tool that allows visualizing the probability of the power demand according to the temperature and the hours of the day is presented. This aim contributes to the decision making support for the transformer and its service administration. The objective is to represent the demand accurately as a color statistical map based on two variables: the time of day and the ambient temperature. Since the daily energy consumption is periodic regarding the hours of the day in terms of several days, its representation with Gaussian models becomes difficult, but it is simplified when working with circular statistics. The circular statistics used here is the Von Mises distribution, which has the parameters mean address and kappa concentration. results obtained from measurements made over a year in a medium-voltage transformer with intervals of 60 minutes are shown.

regenerative peripheral nerve interface rPNI’s surgery was originally designed for prosthetic control. rPNI’s has demonstrated to be an effective tool to prevent neuroma formation by providing free muscle grafts as physiological targets for peripheral nerve ingrowth. Nerve transection injuries can result in painful neuromas that adversely affect patient recovery. This is especially significant following amputation surgeries, but they can also be used in surgeries in which the nerves can be visualized with a noticeable lesion. The first series of patients undergoing rPNI implantation for treatment of symptomatic postamputation neuromas was published in 2016. The series included a report of 46 patients undergoing rPNI. The clinical outcomes of rPNI have been optimistic with a reduction in neuroma pain up to 73% and phantom pain reduction of 53% along the uniformly high patient satisfaction. Since then, studies have been expanded, and knowledge regarding physiology has increased, providing us with new tools for a better understanding and giving these procedures more benefits and applications.

This paper intends to develop suitable methods to provide likely scenarios in order to support decision making for slow dynamic processes such as the underlying of agribusiness. A new method to analyze the short- and long-term time series forecast and to model the behavior of the underlying process using nonlinear artificial neural networks (ANN) is presented. The algorithm can effectively forecast the time-series data by stochastic analysis (Monte Carlo) of its future behavior using fractional Gaussian noise (fGn). The algorithm was used to forecast country risk time series for several countries, both for short term that is 30 days ahead and long term 350 days ahead scenarios.

In this work an algorithm to predict short times series with missing data by means energy associated of series using artificial neural networks (ANN) is presented. In order to give the prediction one step ahead, a comparison between this and previous work that involves a similar approach to test short time series with uncertainties on their data, indicates that a linear smoothing is a well approximation in order to employ a method for uncompleted datasets. Moreover, in function of the long- or short-term stochastic dependence of the short time series considered, the training process modifies the number of patterns and iterations in the topology according to a heuristic law, where the Hurst parameter H is related with the short times series, of which they are considered as a path of the fractional brownian motion. The results are evaluated on high roughness time series from solutions of the Mackey-Glass Equation (MG) and cumulative monthly historical rainfall data from San Agustin, Cordoba. A comparison with ANN nonlinear filters is shown in order to see a better performance of the outcomes when the information is taken from geographical point observation.

Tumor recurrence after Negative Pressure Wound Therapy: An Alert Call

In this report, we present a 22-year-old patient with soft tissue sarcoma of the lower extremity that developed wound dehiscence after surgery. biopsy demonstrated negative margins for cancer. He was treated with negative pressure wound therapy for 6 weeks and started to present increased wound exudates, local pain and proliferating tissue that was positive for tumor recurrence. Consequently he underwent lower extremity amputation with hip disarticulation by the orthopedic team. Although we cannot determine with certainty a full causative relationship, it seems prudent to advise cautious use of negative pressure wound therapy in oncologic related wound beds.
