Immune tolerance is a highly regulated state and involves diverse *** to the induction of tolerance is the targeted modulation of T-cell activities(both effector and regulatory),in which transcription factors play a significant *** nuclear factor kappa-b(NF-κb)family is a family of transcription factors that not only are critically involved in diverse T-cell responses but also are regulated by many mechanisms to maintain tolerance and T-cell ***-κb,as a transcription factor,has been extensively studied in recent decades,and the molecular mechanisms that regulate NF-κb activities have been well ***,recent studies have revealed exciting new roles for NF-κb;in addition to its transcriptional activity,NF-κb can also activate diverse epigenetic mechanisms that mediate extensive chromatin remodeling of target genes to regulate T-cell *** this review article,we highlight recent discoveries and emerging opportunities in targeting NF-κb family members as well as their associated chromatin modifiers in the induction of immune tolerance and in the clinical treatment of immune diseases.

We investigated the communities of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria （AOb） in activated sludge collected from eight wastewater treatment systems using polymerase chain reaction （PCR） followed by terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism （T-RFLP）, cloning, and sequencing of the α-subunit of the ammonia monooxygenase gene （amoA）. The T-RFLP fingerprint analyses showed that different wastewater treatment systems harbored distinct AOb communities. However, there was no remarkable difference among the AOb T- RFLP profiles from different parts of the same system. The T-RFLP fingerprints showed that a full-scale wastewater treatment plant （WWTP） contained a larger number of dominant AOb species than a pilot-scale reactor. The source of influent affected the AOb community, and the WWTPs treating domestic wastewater contained a higher AOb diversity than those receiving mixed domestic and industrial wastewater. However, the AOb community structure was little affected by the treatment process in this study. Phylogenetic analysis of the cloned amoA genes clearly indicated that all the dominant AOb in the systems was closely related to Nitrosomonas spp. not to Nitrosospira spp. Members of the Nitrosomonas oligotropha and Nitrosomonas communis clusters were found in all samples, while members of Nitrosomonas europaea cluster occurred in some systems.

beginning with precise data on the ratio of structure functions in deep inelastic scattering(DIS)from ^3He and ^3H,collected on the domain 0.19≤xb≤0.83,where xbis the bjorken scaling variable,we employ a robust method for extrapolating such data to arrive at a model-independent result for the xb=1 value of the ratio of neutron and proton structure *** this with information obtained in analyses of DIS from nuclei,corrected for target-structure dependence,we arrive at a prediction for the proton valence-quark ratio:d_(v)/u_(v)|_(xb→1)=0.230(57).Requiring consistency with this result presents a challenge to many descriptions of proton structure.

给出空气和燃料在3种初始混合模式（非预混、部分预混和完全预混）下无焰燃烧的实验结果，介绍了无焰燃烧的实现方法，研究当量比和初始混合模式对无焰燃烧的影响。实验炉在功率为7.5~15 kW下运行，当量比的变化范围为0.5~1。实验结果表明，无焰燃烧状态一旦建立则很稳定，很容易维持。无论是预混、非预混还是部分预混燃烧，其炉温差别不大，CO和NOx排放低。当量比接近1时，虽然炉内仍处于无焰燃烧状态且NOx排放量少，但CO和H2排放量都极多，此时并不是清洁燃烧。当量比小于0.98时，3种混合模式下烟气中的CO和H2含量都极低，但部分预混无焰燃烧产生的NOx排放量相对较多，而完全预混无焰燃烧的NOx排放量最低。文中还对当量比对NOx排放量的影响进行了详细分析。

The Potential of Quartzitic Veins in SW Cameroon for High-Purity Quartz

High-purity quartz (HPQ), the prime source of silica, is increasingly considered a strategic mineral in the world market because it is the raw material for special applications in high-tech industries owing to its unique physical and chemical properties. The expected growth in demand for HPQ implies that more sources have to be found. This is the primary motivation for this study which targets the Supe area, SW Region of Cameroon. The structural occurrences of quartz veins were mapped and samples collected. The chemical nature and textural features of these samples were subsequently analyzed by X-ray tomography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electron microprobe analysis (EMPA). Three deformation events, Db>1b> - Db>3b> are recorded. Db>1b> is marked by the development of the strong Sb>1b> foliation defined by the gneissic layering and schistosity. Db>2b> is a NE-SW ductile to brittle sinistral shear that controlled the formation of tension gashes that served as subsequent pathways for quartz-rich hydrothermal fluids to circulate and eventually precipitate quartz. The presence of rutile, tourmaline, and mica inclusions in the Supe veins affects the purity of the quartz. However, quartz can be treated to improve its quality. Taking into consideration the nine determinant trace elements used to classify HPQ, three (Li, P, and b) are below detection limits, Al concentrations are within the HPQ, quartz market standard, and average natural abundance;Ti values are high above all three standards in all except one sample, while Na, Ca, K, and Fe values fluctuate, thus classifying one of the samples as high purity quartz and the others as low purity quartz. These veins define tension gashes which usually occur in an echelon arrangement covering a large surface area, suggesting that more of such veins probably exist in the Supe area. Consequently, the quality and potential quantity of HPQ veins in this area suggest a high potential

A new cryptand/paraquat [2]pseudorotaxane and its crown ether analog were synthesized and characterized by proton NMR, mass spectrometry, and single crystal X-ray analysis. The Job plots based on proton NMR data demonstrated that both the complex between cryptand 1 and paraquat derivative 2a and the complex between bis(p-phenylene)-34-crown-10 (3) and paraquat derivative 2b have 1:1 stoichiometry in solution. The apparent association constants (Ka,exp) of 1·2a and 3·2b calculated for 1:1 complexes were 1.4 (±0.2) × 104 and 4.7 (± 0.5) × 102 M-1, respectively. X-ray analysis showed that 1·2a is stabilized by ten hydrogen bonds and face-to-face π-stacking interactions in the solid state, while 3·2b is stabilized by four hydrogen bonds and face-to-face π-stacking interactions. As well as in the X-ray structure of 1·2c, a water molecule acts as a hydrogen bridge between the β-pyridinium protons of 2a and the ether oxygen atoms of 1 in 1·2a. The successful preparation of 1·2a demonstrated that the tert-butyl group is not big enough to be a stopper for rotaxanes based on 1.

A case history study on causation of the landslide in Santa Clara,California, USA

This paper presents a case history study on the geologic investigation and numerical modeling of areactivated landslide in the County of Santa Clara, California to identify the failure mechanism. Thelandslide occurred on an approximately 18.3-m high, north-facing slope during March 2011. The landslidemeasured about 33.5 m in width and about 51.8 m in length. Along the toe of the slope, a residentialstructure with a swimming pool was built on a cut and fill pad and there are several other structurespresent along the western side of the pad. The landslide occurred immediately to the south of theresidential building and moved northward between the County Road A and the house＇s side yard. Themovement of the landslide resulted in damaging the west-bound traffic lane of County Road A andencroached onto the paved driveway for the residential property. An investigation was performed toidentify the failure mechanism of the landslide to conclude whether Road A re-alignment by the Countyor prominent cutting performed along the lower portion of the slope by the homeowner during 2000through 2004 contributed to the reactivation of the old landslide deposit. The investigation included sitereconnaissance, reviewing available published geologic information, reviewing site-specific geologic andgeotechnical data developed by other consultants, and performing numerical modeling. The outcomes ofthe investigation indicate that the primary causation for the reactivation and failure of the subject preexistinglandslide is the prominent cutting performed along the lower portion of the slope during 2000through 2004 and water tank cut bench.
