Evaporation and CO_(2)fluxes in a coastal reef:an eddy covariance approach

Introduction:We conducted season-long observations of evaporation and carbon flux at the Gulf of Aqaba coast,northern Red *** used the eddy-covariance method with a two-tower setup to measure evaporation rates over land and sea and the advection between *** a three-dimensional mass balance approach,we calculated total evaporation as the sum of two main components in our site:horizontal advection and turbulent vertical flux,with half-hourly change of water vapor storage and horizontal flux divergence found to be ***:Average evaporation rates were 11.4[mm/day]from April through May(early summer)and 10.5[mm/day]from June through August(summer).The coastal reef was a CO_(2)sink over the period of measurements,significantly higher in June through August than in April through *** main environmental drivers of CO_(2)flux were humidity,water temperature,sensible heat flux,and wind ***:The rates of evaporation near the shore were considerably higher than values reported in other studies typically used to represent the mean for the whole Gulf *** found that evaporation rates computed by common bulk models approximate the mean values of evaporation but have poor representativeness of the intra-daily temporal variation of *** was a significant correlation between CO_(2)flux and evaporation attributed to common environmental drivers of gas diffusion,turbulent fluxes,and horizontal ***:We conclude that observations of fluxes in coastal waters need to use at least a two-tower system to account for the effect of horizontal advection on the total flux.

coral-like structures of the Y_(3-x)pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12),(0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04, 0.00 ≤ y ≤ 0.02) compound were synthesized using the sol-gel method. structural investigation certified the YIG cubic crystal structure formation, without any secondary phase. It is shown that, the relatively large ionic radius of the dopant cations results in an expansion of the lattice parameter, variations in the Iona-O-Iondangle, Iona-O,Iond-O and Ionc-O bond distances and decrease in the average crystallite size. Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) and Raman measurements are essential to testify the single-phase formation of YIG crystal structure and are observed changes in the stretching and vibrational modes, respectively. The morphological study, energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDs) spectra and textural properties show corallike structures, peaks associated with pr^(3+) and Yb^(3+) atoms and the effect of dopants on surface area,diameter, and pore volume, respectively. The optical analysis from diffuse reflectance spectra witnessed an increase in the optical gap band, a decrease in Urbach energy and blue shift in the charge transfer,correlated with the expansion of the unit cell due to the dopant's insertion in the YIG structure. A typical ferrimagnetic behavior is exhibited by the Y_(3-x)pr_(x)Fe_(5-y)Yb_(y)O_(12)compound. The saturation magnetization(M_(s)), cubic anisotropy constant(K_(1)) and coercive field(H_(c)) increase with the pr^(3+)cations content, as consequence of their magnetic nature and distribution around of Fe^(3+)ions due to the coexistence with the Yb^(3+). Finally, for the first time, antibacterial tests by mean of the direct contact method were performed for YIG co-doped with pr^(3+)and Yb^(3+)and it is shown that, relatively high dosages of pr^(3+) cations favored the activity against s. aureus, therefore, a new biological property for YIG doped with rare earths is presented.

Characterizing shorea robusta communities in the part of Indian Terai landscape

shorea robusta Gaertn. f.（sal）is one of the important tim-ber-yielding plants in India, which dominates the vegetation of Terai landscape of Uttar pradesh state in India forming various communities based on its associations. The present study deals with delineation, map-ping and characterization of various communities of sal （shorea robusta） forests in Terai landscape of Uttar pradesh, India ranging across over 16 districts. Field survey and visual interpretation based forest vegetation type classification and mapping was carried out as part of the project entitled ‘Biodiversity characterization at landscape level using remote sensing and GIs’. Indian Remote sensing-p6 （Resourcesat-1） Linear Imaging self scanner-III satellite data was used during the study. The total area covered by different sal forests was found to be approximately 2256.77 km2. sal communities were identified and characterized based on their spectral properties, physiognomy and phytosociological charac-teristics. Following nine sal communities were identified, delineated and mapped with reasonable accuracyviz.,Chandar,Damar, dry plains, moist plains, western alluvium, western alluvium plains, mixed moist deciduous, mixed dry deciduous andsiwalik. It is evident from the area estimates that mixed moist deciduous sal is the most dominant commu-nity in the region covering around （1613.90 km2）, other major communi-ties were found as western alluvium plains sal （362.44 km2）, mixed dry deciduous sal （362.44 km2） and dry plains sal （107.71 km2）. The Terai landscape of Uttar pradesh faces tremendous anthropogenic pressure leading to deterioration of the forests. Community level information could be used monitoring the status as well as for micro level conserva-tion and planning of the sal forests in Terai Landscape of Uttar pradesh.

Deep learning is a machine learning technique that allows the computer to process things that occur naturally to ***,deep learning techniques are commonly used in computer vision to classify images and *** a result,for challenging computer vision problems,deep learning provides state of the art solutions to *** reefs are an essential resource of the earth.A new study finds the planet has lost half of its coral reefs since *** is necessary to restore and prevent damage to coral reefs as they play an important role in maintaining a balance in the marine *** proposed work helps to prevent the corals from bleaching and restore them to a healthy condition by identifying the root cause of the *** the proposed work,using deep learning CNN techniques,the images are classified into Healthy and stressed coral *** coral reefs are an intermediate state of coral reef between healthy and bleached coral *** pre-trained models Resnet50 and Inception V3 are used in this study to classify the ***,a proposed CNN model is built and tested for the *** results of Inception V3 and Resnet50 are improved to 70%and 55%by tuning the hypermeters such as dropouts and batch ***,the proposed model is tuned as required and obtains a maximum of up to 90%*** large datasets,the optimum amount of neural networks and tuning it as required brings higher accuracy than other methods.

Diabetes Management in Resource poor Countries

The aim of this study was to evaluate the diabetes status and health beliefs of individuals living in villages in Northeast Guatemala. Our study explored current understanding of diabetes in the peten region of Guatemala concerning the cause, treatment, and effect of type two diabetes by engaging and interviewing 21 diabetic patients in a qualitative study. Interview results showed that among study participants, the cause of diabetes was often “unknown”. With an average of 3.5 years of education among survey participants and many reporting being mostly or fully illiterate, it is likely that health education status plays a major role in their concept of diabetes. The majority of responses claimed some form of “asusto”—defined as a negative emotional event causing physical maladies—to have caused their diabetes. patient surveys revealed that Gods and prayer ranked the highest among factors controlling their diabetes, with medications being seen as a tertiary control factor, as seen in Figure 1. Only two study participants (2/21) ranked diet/exercise as more impactful on their diabetes than gods/prayer. survey responses also show that most individuals agree that taking their medications is important, with the most common reported barriers to control of their blood sugar being cost of medications and lifestyle barriers. Altogether, lack of education and resource availability appears to be the most heavily implicated reasons why uncontrolled diabetes is on the rise in Guatemala—it is clear that health education needs to be a major part of therapeutic efforts in this region.

Induction of metallothionein expression during monocyte to melanoma-associated macrophage differentiation

Tumor-associated macrophages （TAMs） play a critical role in melanoma growth and metastasis. Infiltration of TAMs correlates with the poor prognosis of melanoma. TAMs are differentiated from monocytes in response to the tumor microenvironment cue. However, the mechanism how TAMs adapt to the tumor microenvironment after differentiation from monocytes is not fully understood. In addition, specific identification of TAMs in melanoma is difficult because the expression of the most commonly used macrophage marker, CD68, is also expressed in melanoma cells. In an earlier study, we found by gene microarray analysis that seven members of the metallothionein （MTs） family were upregulated in melanoma-conditioned medium induced macrophages （MCIM-MO）. MTs have been implicated in zinc metabolism and inflammation. In the present study, we confirmed that expression of metallothionein is induced in M-CsF differentiated macrophages （M-CsF/M~） and MCIM-M~ at both the mRNA and protein levels using real-time pCR, immunofluorescence, and western blot analysis. Furthermore, we demonstrated the presence of metallothionein in melanoma tissues in vivo and that metallothionein was co-localized with TAMs markers, CD68 and CD163. Finally, we demonstrated the induction of the zinc importer gene Zip8 both in M-CsF/MO and MCIM-MO. Our study identifies metallothionein as a novel marker for TAMs and suggests that metaliothionein might play important roles in macrophage adaptation and function in the tumor microenvironment.

pistachio is a nut crop domesticated in the Fertile Crescent and a dioecious species with ZW sex *** sequenced the genomes of pistacia vera cultivar(cv.)siirt,the female parent,and *** ***,the male *** chromosome-level reference genomes of pistachio were generated,and Z and W chromosomes were *** ZW chromosomes originated from an autosome following the first inversion,which occurred approximately 8.18 *** inversion events in the W chromosome led to the formation of a 12.7-Mb(22.8%of the W chromosome)non-recombining *** W-specific sequences contain several genes of interest that may have played a pivotal role in sex determination and contributed to the initiation and evolution of a ZW sex chromosome system in *** W-specific genes,including defA,defA-like,DYT1,two pTEN1,and two tandem duplications of six Vps13A paralogs,are strong candidates for sex determination or *** history analysis of resequenced genomes suggest that cultivated pistachio underwent severe domestication bottlenecks approximately 7640 years ago,dating the domestication event close to the archeological record of pistachio domestication in *** identified 390,211,and 290 potential selective sweeps in 3 cultivar subgroups that underlie agronomic traits such as nut development and quality,grafting success,flowering time shift,and drought *** findings have improved our understanding of the genomic basis of sex determination/differentiation and horticulturally important traits and will accelerate the improvement of pistachio cultivars and rootstocks.

1 地震危险性评定历史最早试图确定哥伦比亚地震震中区的工作是Lozano在1906年做的(Ramirez,1933)。他把地震分为三类:强、中、小烈度事件。在1922年,建立了哥伦比亚气象台,它拥有一个由3个台站组成的小台网,从此开始了哥伦比亚仪器观测记录的历史。1941年,在波哥大杰弗里亚纳大学建立了洛斯安第斯地球物理研究所,它管理着几个私立研究所资助的地震台。在国际地球物理年(1958),地震台增加至七个。然而资金缺乏总是影响每个大地震监测计划的执行。这个台网记录的资料和现有历史记载的使用,对由Ramirez对Estrada(1977)所编制的地震危险性图的提高非常有用。Espinosa等在1985年编制了最新的地震危险性图,已按总统1984第1400号令编入建筑规范。
