Optimized sintering and mechanical properties of Y-TZP ceramics for dental restorations by adding lithium disilicate glass ceramics

The novel dental ceramics can be fabricated at lower temperatures when sol-gel derived lithium disilicate glass ceramics(LDGC)was used as an additive for yttria stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline(Y-TZP)*** effect of LDGC on the sintering,mechanical,and translucent properties of Y-TZP ceramics was investigated in the present *** results showed that the LDGC additive effectively improved the densification of Y-TZP at 1100℃,which was much lower than the sintering temperature for pure *** sintered at 1100℃,the Y-TZP with 1 wt%LDGC reached a relative density of 95.45%,and prossessed a flexural strength of 482.4 MPa and a fracture toughness of 5.94 ***,its translucency was also ***,the addition of LDGC could result in an escape of yttrium atoms from the grain lattice of zirconia,which induced the tetragonal-monoclinic transformation of zirconia and abnormal growth of monoclinic *** escaped yttrium atoms diffused into the intergranular glass *** results indicated that the novel Y-TZP-LDGC ceramics has a great potential to be used for all-ceramic restorations.

Silicate bioceramics have been shown to possess excellent cytocompatibility and osteogenic activity,but the exact mechanism is still *** adsorption is the first event taking place at the biomaterial-tissue interface,which is vital to the subsequent cellular behavior and further influence the biomaterial-tissue *** this work,the protein adsorption behavior of a novel CPS bioceramic was evaluated using the proteomics *** results showed that CPS adsorbed more amount and types of serum proteins than ***1 and IGF1 proteins selected from proteomics results were validated by Western-blot *** analysis also revealed mechanistic insights how these absorbed proteins by CPS help mediate cell adhesion and promotes osteogenic ***,the dramatically enhanced adsorption of FN1 could greatly promote cell adhesion and ***,IGF1 was uniquely adsorbed on CPS bioceramic and IGF1 could activate Rap1 signaling pathway to promote cell ***,the increased adsorption of FN1,IGF1 and COL1A2 proteins on CPS explains its better ability on bone regeneration than ***,the increased adsorption of IGF1,CHAD,COL2A1 and THBS4 proteins on CPS explains its ability on cartilage ***,the increased adsorption of immunological related proteins on CPS may also play a positive role in bone *** addition,CPS had a much better cell adhesion ability than HA,proving that more adsorbed proteins really had a positive effect on cell *** more adsorbed proteins on CPS than HA might indicated a better bone regeneration rate at early stage of implantation.

Composite coatings of bioglass and hydroxyapatite (briefly named HA/BG) with different hydroxyapatite contents on titanium substrate were successfully fabricated. The fabricated coatings are characterized by rough and poriform *** densities of the coatings decrease with the increase of HA content. There is a transition layer with a 5 μm thickness between the BG coating and the substrate. During heat-treatment, hydroxyapatite crystals with hexastyle shape have precipitated from the BG.

Osteoporosis bone defect is a refractory orthopaedic disease which characterized by impaired bone quality and bone regeneration *** therapies,including antiosteoporosis drugs and artificial bone grafts,are not always ***,a strontium-substituted calcium phosphate silicate bioactive ceramic(Sr-CPS)was *** the present study,the extracts of Sr-CPS were prepared for in vitro study and Sr-CPS scaffolds were used for in vivo *** cytocompatibility,osteogenic and osteoclastogenic properties of Sr-CPS extracts were characterized in comparison to *** mechanisms were also evaluated by Western ***-CPS extracts were found to promote osteogenesis by upregulating Wnt/β-catenin signal pathways and inhibit osteoclastogenesis through downregulating NF-κB signal *** vivo,micro-CT,histological and histomorphometric observation were conducted after 8 weeks of implantation to evaluate the bone formation using calvarial defects model in ovariectomized *** with CPS,Sr-CPS significantly promoted critical sized ovariectomy(OVX)calvarial defects *** all the samples,Sr-10 showed the best performance due to a perfect match of bone formation and scaffold degradation ***,the present study demonstrated that Sr-CPS ceramic can dually modulate both bone formation and resorption,which might be a promising candidate for the reconstruction of osteoporotic bone defect.

Impact of non-ideal UE hardware on cell-free massive MIMO network with centralized operation

This paper investigates the impact of non-ideal user equipment(UE) hardware on a cell-free(CF) massive MIMO(mMIMO) network with centralized operation under spatially correlated channels. The minimum mean-squared error(MMSE) estimator can be derived with the help of the generic non-ideal UE hardware model. It is demonstrated that even if the effective signal-to-noise ratio approaches infinity, pilot contamination and imperfect hardware can cause a non-zero estimation error floor. After that, a lower bound is determined for the ergodic uplink capacity of the centralized CF mMIMO network under non-ideal UE hardware. Moreover, the optimal receive combining vector is obtained to maximize the uplink spectral efficiency(SE). The maximum ratio(MR) and regularized zero-forcing(RZF) combining schemes are offered as alternatives in light of the computational complexity of the MMSE receiver. Comparing the RZF to the MMSE scheme under different levels of hardware impairments, our findings indicate that the RZF receiver suffers a negligible loss in total SE. For MR combining, a novel closed-form uplink achievable SE expression is obtained based on the MMSE estimator and the use-and-then-forget bounding technique. This expression gives vital insights into the achievable uplink performance with UE hardware impairments. Besides, for various hardware impairment factors, the impact of pilot sequence length on average sum SE is disclosed for different receive combining schemes. To increase the overall SE of the max-min fairness scheme, a heuristic fractional power control scheme with UE hardware impairments is developed, which can essentially avoid sacrificing the SE of other UEs while maximizing the SE of the unluckiest UE in the whole network. Finally,our theoretical performance analysis and power control algorithm are validated by simulation results, and fundamental design guidelines are provided for selecting hardware satisfying the practical UE requirements.

Freestanding oxide perovskites possess strong interlayer coupling between adjacent atomic layers,thus exerting a determinative effect on the magnetism and ferroelectricity of these atomic-scale ***,we propose an effective strategy to manipulate magnetism and ferroelectricity in freestanding rare-earth orthorhombic perovskite via modulation of layer *** performing first-principles calculations,an even-odd oscillation is demonstrated in few-layer GdAlO_(3)perovskite(GAP).Specifically,odd-layer systems with charged atomic layers are ferromagnetic polar metals,while even-layer systems are antiferromagnetic ferroelectric *** thickness-dependent magnetic phase transition originates from carrier doping,as rationalized by the Stoner ***,we demonstrate the promotion of in-plane ferroelectricity via the concurrent application of two distinct antiferrodistortive displacements,each driven by formation and breaking of *** multiferroic phases may emerge in other transition metal oxide perovskites supporting multiple valence states,e.g.,few-layer Gd MO_(3)(M=V,Cr,Mn,and Ni).This work puts forward a strategy for layer thickness engineering of magnetism and ferroelectricity in 2D oxide perovskite multiferroic materials.
