Free PsA performs better than total PsA in predicting prostate volume in Chinese men with PsA levels of 2.5–9.9 ng ml−1

This study investigated whether free prostate-specific antigen(fPsA)performs better than total PsA(tPsA)in predicting prostate volume(PV)in Chinese men with different PsA levels.A total of 5463 men with PsA levels ofstate cancer diagnosis were included in this *** were classified into four groups:PsAson/spearman's correlation coefficient(r)and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were used to evaluate the ability of tPsA and fPsA to predict *** correlation coefficient between tPsA and PV in the PsAs markedly higher than those of the cohorts with PsA levels of 2.5–3.9 ng ml^(−1),4.0–9.9 ng ml^(−1),and 2.5–9.9 ng ml^(−1)(r=0.114,0.167,and 0.264,respectively;all P≤0.001),while fPsA levels did not differ significantly among different PsA *** under ROC curve(AUC)analyses revealed that the performance of fPsA in predicting PV≥40 ml(AUC:0.694,0.714,and 0.727)was better than that of tPsA(AUC=0.545,0.561,and 0.611)in men with PsA levels of 2.5–3.9 ng ml^(−1),4.0–9.9 ng ml^(−1),and 2.5–9.9 ng ml^(−1),respectively,but not at PsA levels ofs 0.720).These findings suggest that the relationship between tPsA and PV may vary with PsA level and that fPsA is more powerful at predicting PV only in the"gray zone"(PsA levels of 2.5–9.9 ng ml^(−1)),but its performance was similar to that of tPsA at PsA levels of<2.5 ng ml^(−1).

AVs Intellectual Property Rights （IPR） Policy

The AVs Workgroup has developed an IPR Policy to facilitate the adoption of standards in the marketplace The policy is based on consideration of IPR issues in parallel with the technical work for drafting the standard. The paper describes the relationship between IPR and the standard, and how the goals for the standard must be complemented by goals for the IPR. The existing IPR policies of the ITU and IsO are outlined, and then the AVs IPR policy is described, organized by its three main components： commitment to license on declared basic terms, disclosure of intellectual property, and protection of IPR.

Improved TARP development based upon mine specific data

The trigger action response plans （TARPs） are inherent to managing the multiple hazards such as： high gas content with multiple coal seams, high spontaneous combustion （sponcom） propensity, heat and ventilation, TARPs aim to provide assurance and guidance when the situation deviates from the original plan or there is a change conditions that could he hazardous, Over the years, learnings from various incidents has continuously required the coal operations to re-visit the TARP trigger values that were based on historic data or based on guidance values from the industry, In most cases, the background to the basis of TARP statistical data, viz,, average, maximum, hourly, daily for the monitoring or sampling location is also unknown, Introduction of real-time monitoring devices to monitor the gases and airflows has provided greater understanding of the hazard scenarios and their controls, This paper analyses the carbon monoxide data from operating longwall mines and compares these with the historic trigger values to understand the changes and determine improvement opportunities while setting trigger levels in the TARPs, As an example of setting trigger values, those used in during the sealing of a panel are explored in terms of setting values based upon the sampling location and the level of risk, It is envisaged that the learning＇s shared herein would further enhance the understanding and management of multiple hazards in Australian coal mines,

Evidence from genetics and from analyzing cellular and animal models have converged to suggest links between neurodegenerative disorders of early and late ***,we summarize emerging links between the most common late life neurodegenerative disease,Alzheimer’s disease,and the most common early life neurodegenerative diseases,neuronal ceroid *** studies reported an overlap of clinically diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease and mutations in genes known to cause neuronal ceroid *** data strongly suggest dysfunction of intracellular trafficking mechanisms and the autophagy-endolysosome system in both types of neurodegenerative *** suggests shared cytopathological processes underlying these different types of neurodegenerative diseases.A better understanding of the common mechanisms underlying the different diseases is important as this might lead to the identification of novel targets for therapeutic concepts,the transfer of therapeutic strategies from one disease to the other and therapeutic approaches tailored to patients with specific ***,we review dysfunctions of the endolysosomal autophagy pathway in Alzheimer’s disease and neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses and summarize emerging etiologic and genetic overlaps.

Disruption of bone and skeletal muscle in severe burns

severe burn injury triggers the body＇s nonspecific adaptive responses to acute insult, including the systemic inflammatory and stress responses, as well as the sympathetic response to immobilization. These responses trigger inflammatory bone resorption followed by glucocorticoid-induced apoptosis of osteoblasts and probably osteocytes. Because these patients are catabolic, they suffer concomitant muscle wasting and negative nitrogen balance. The use of anabolic agents such as recombinant human growth hormone and oxandrolone results in improved bone mineral content and muscle strength after approximately I year. Use of bisphosphonates within the first 10 days of a severe burn completely blocks the resorptive bone loss and has the added advantage of appearing to preserve muscle protein from excessive breakdown. The mechanism for the protective effect on muscle is not currently known. However, if the effect of bisphosphonates on muscle can be confirmed, it raises the possibility that bone communicates with muscle.

Use of centrifugal-gravity concentration for rejection of talc and recovery improvement in base-metal flotation

The possibility of using a centrifugal-gravity concentrator to reject Mg-bearing minerals and minimize metal losses in the flotation of base metals was evaluated. sample characterization, batch scoping tests, pilot-scale tests, and regrind-flotation tests were conducted on a Ni flotation tailings stream. Batch tests revealed that the Mg grade decreased dramatically in the concentrate products. Pilot-scale testing of a continuous centrifugal concentrator（Knelson CVD6） on the flotation tailings revealed that a concentrate with a low mass yield, low Mg content, and high Ni upgrade ratio could be achieved. Under optimum conditions, a concentrate at 6.7% mass yield was obtained with 0.85% Ni grade at 12.9% Ni recovery and with a low Mg distribution（1.7%）. size partition curves demonstrated that the CVD also operated as a size classifier, enhancing the rejection of talc fines. Overall, the CVD was capable of rejecting Mg-bearing minerals. Moreover, an opportunity exists for the novel use of centrifugal-gravity concentration for scavenging flotation tailings and/or after comminution to minimize amount of Mg-bearing minerals reporting to flotation.

Focal Points at Infinity for short-Range scattering Trajectories

Classical scattering trajectories are known to form a Lagrangian manifold in euclidean phase space,which allows the classification of local focal points for sufficiently small dimensions. For the case of a short-range potential, we show that the natural description of focal points at infinity is a Lagrangian manifold in the cotangent bundle of the sphere and establish the relationship between focal points at infinity and the projection singularities of that manifold.

Advances and challenges towards the study of RNA-RNA interactions in a transcriptome-wide scale

RNA molecules play crucial roles in various biological processes. Their regulation and function are mediated by interacting with other molecules. Among them RNA-RNA interactions （RRIs） are important in many basic cellular activities including transcription, RNA processing, localization, and translation. However, we just start to unveil the complexity of the knowledge and underlying mechanisms of RRIs. Results： In this review, we will summarize approaches for RRI identifications, including both conventional, focused biophysical and biochemical methods and recently developed large scale sequencing-based techniques. We will also discuss discoveries per RRI type revealed by using these technologies, as well as challenges towards a systematic and functional understanding of RRIs. Conclusions： The development of sequencing-based techniques has revolutionized the study of RRIs. Applying these techniques in multiple organisms has identified thousands of RRls, many of which could potentially regulate multiple aspects of gene expression. However, despite the great breakthrough, the RNA-RNA interactome of any species remains far from complete due to intrinsic complex nature of RRI and limitations in current techniques. More efficient experimental methods and computational framework are needed to obtain the full image of RRI networks, and their possible regulatory roles in biology and medicine.
