A review of machine learning-based failure management in optical networks

Failure management plays a significant role in optical networks. It ensures secure operation,mitigates potential risks, and executes proactive protection. Machine learning(ML) is considered to be an extremely powerful technique for performing comprehensive data analysis and complex network management and is widely utilized for failure management in optical networks to revolutionize the conventional manual methods. In this study, the background of failure management is introduced, where typical failure tasks,physical objects, ML algorithms, data sources, and extracted information are illustrated in detail. An overview of the applications of ML in failure management is provided in terms of alarm analysis, failure prediction, failure detection, failure localization, and failure identification. Finally, the future directions on ML for failure management are discussed from the perspective of data, model, task, and emerging techniques.

This paper examines the architectural and Landscape design strategies and intentions for green, open spaces facilities targeting stress aLLeviation for learning environments such as those of university campuses in a compact urban setting. Literature reviews provide three prevailing perspectives for physical design pedagogical operatives： healing gardens where greenery and plants produce restorative effects; flexible spaces that accommodate functional needs of different activities; and green buildings that incorporate open space as a catalyst for integrated eco-system. Corresponding design approaches （Landscape design, spatial design and green design） are scrutinized by case study. A comparison of two university campuses with different urban contexts is conducted to identify challenges and opportunities for applying these design approaches. For a compact campus, high-dense surroundings may limit the size of an open space and may handicap circulation and accessibility; on the other side, a small open space may provide its users more intimate contact with natural restorative elements and also a more controllable microclimate for physical comfort. A healthy campus should encompass diverse open spaces to satisfy different purposes. Finally, a framework that integrates the three approaches is combined to produce a sustainable design rubric.

The development of private higher education in Macao has experien- ced rapid growth in the past two decades. The purpose of this paper is to understand this trend by investigating the facts and figures supplied by official sources and to analyze the role between the Government and the private sector. This paper shows that the attitude of the Macao Government is neither authoritative nor laissez-faire toward private higher education. On the one hand, the Government is investing heavily in the public sector. On the other hand, it is assisting the private sector by various means. However, there is a lack of systematic planning in the area of public-private partnership. There are also two issues which may hinder the current development of private higher education. They are an outdated legal framework and a lack of standardized quality assurance measures.

High Hole Mobility of GaSb Relaxed Epilayer Grown on GaAs Substrate by MOCVD through Interfacial Misfit Dislocations Array

The structural property of GaSb epilayers grown on semi-insulator GaAs （001） substrate by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition （MOCVD） using Triethylgallium （TEGa） and trimethylantimony （TMSb）, was investigated by variation of the Sb：Ga （V/Ill） ratio. An optimum V/Ill ratio of 1.4 was determined in our growth conditions. Using transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, we found that there was an interracial misfit dislocations （IMF） growth mode in our experiment, in which the large misfit strain between epilayer and substrate is relaxed by periodic 90 deg. IMF array at the hetero-epitaxial interface. The rms roughness of a 300 nm-thick GaSb layer is only 2.7 nm in a 10μm×10μm scan from atomic force microscopy （AFM） result. The best hole density and mobility of 300 nm GaSb epilayer are 5.27xi06 cm-3（1.20×106） and 553 cm2-V-l.s-1 （2340） at RT （77 K） from Hall measurement, respectively. These results indicate that the IMF growth mode can be used in MOCVD epitaxial technology similar to molecular beam epitaxy （MBE） technology to produce the thinner GaSb layer with low density of dislocations and other defects on GaAs substrate for the application of devices.

Objective:To determine distribution of arthropods in rice grains obtained from different ***: Rice samples were randomly collected from public in urban areas,farmers in rice field areas,aborigines in undeveloped areas and retailers in commercial *** samples of rice were taken out from each sample for isolation of arthropods using a modified Berlese Tullgren Funnel *** were mounted prior to identification; weevils were directly ***:Samples of rice from retailers in commercial premises had the highest infestation by arthropods followed by samples from urbanites,aborigines and rice *** species of weevils,Sitophilus oryzae(***) and Sitophilus granarius(***),were *** from commercial premises had the least percentage of weevils compared to those collected from domestic premises. Depending on the source of samples,densities of *** and *** ranges from 11-103 weevils/ kg and 7- 80 weevils/kg,*** species of mites in stored rice identified were mainly members of the families Cheyletidae,Echimyopodidae,Pyroglyphidae,Saproglyphidae and *** the species of mites identified were Austroglycyphagus malaysiensis,Cheyletus fortis,Cheyletus malaccensis,Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus,Grammolichus malukuensis and Suidasia *** density of most of the mites was less than 40 mites/kg of rice *** this study,the highest number of mites in rice samples was recovered from commercial premises,followed by samples from *** from farmers and aborigines contained lesser ***:This study demonstrated the presence of 3 allergenic mite species in rice, i.e ***,*** and ***,*** and *** that are known to be allergenic,were also found.
