Assessment of the performance of the TOPGNSS and ANN-mB antennas for ionospheric measurements using low-cost u-blox GNSS receivers

Low-cost GNSS receivers have recently been gaining reliability as good candidates for ionospheric studies. In line with these gains are genuine concerns about improving the performance of these receivers. In this work, we present a comprehensive investigation of the performances of two antennas(the u-blox ANN-mB and the TOPGNSS TOP-106) used on a low-cost GNSS receiver known as the u-blox ZED-F9P. The two antennas were installed on two identical and co-located u-blox receivers. Data used from both receivers cover the period from January to June 2022. Results from the study indicate that the signal strengths are dominantly greater for the receiver with the TOPGNSS antenna than for the receiver with the ANN-mB antenna, implying that the TOPGNSS antenna is better than the ANN-mB antenna in terms of providing greater signal strengths. Summarily, the TOPGNSS antenna also performed better in minimizing the occurrence of cycle slips on phase TEC measurements. There are no conspicuous differences between the variances(computed as 5-min standard deviations) of phase TEC measurements for the two antennas, except for a period around may-June when the TOPGNSS gave a better performance in terms of minimizing the variances in phase TEC. Remarkably, the ANN-mB antenna gave a better performance than the TOPGNSS antenna in terms of minimizing the variances in pseudorange TEC for some satellite observations. For precise horizontal(North and East) positioning, the receiver with the TOPGNSS antenna gave better results, while the receiver with the ANN-mB antenna gave better vertical(Up) positioning. The errors for the receivers of both antennas are typically within about 5 m(the monthly mean was usually smaller than 1 m) in the horizontal direction and within about 10 m(the monthly mean was usually smaller than 4 m) in the vertical direction.

Image segmentation is a crucial step in various image analysis pipelines and constitutes one of the cutting-edge areas of digital pathology.The advent of quantitative analysis has enabled the evaluation of millions of individual cells in tissues,allowing for the combined assessment of morphological features,biomarker expression,and spatial context.The recorded cells can be described as a point pattern process.However,the classical statistical approaches to point pattern processes prove unreliable in this context due to the presence of multiple irregularly-shaped interstitial cell-devoid spaces in the domain,which correspond to anatomical features(e.***.vessels,lipid vacuoles,glandular lumina)or tissue artefacts(e.***.tissue fractures),and whose coordinates are unknown.These interstitial spaces impede the accurate calculation of the domain area,resulting in biased clustering measurements.moreover,the mistaken inclusion of empty regions of the domain can directly impact the results of hypothesis testing.The literature currently lacks any introduced bias correction method to address interstitial cell-devoid spaces.To address this gap,we propose novel resampling methods for testing spatial randomness and evaluating relationships among different cell populations.Our methods obviate the need for domain area estimation and provide non-biased clustering measurements.We created the SpaceR software(https://***/GBertolazzi/SpaceR)to enhance the accessibility of our methodologies.

Background: Obesity is currently considered a public health problem. Bariatric procedures have become an important part of obesity management and, consequently, the number of male patients seeking post-bariatric reconstructive procedures have increased. Therefore, the clinical approach and understanding of the body contour of this population have become more relevant. The goal of post-bariatric reconstruction is to enhance the male silhouette through removal of skin and adipose tissue excess, and abdominal rectus diastasis repair. material and methods: We conducted a retrospective study at the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department of the National medical Center “20 de Noviembre”. All male patients referred to our department to start a post-bariatric reconstruction protocol from January 2018 to December 2022 were included in this study. Results: In total, 15 patients who underwent corporal contouring procedures were included;median age was 49.2 years with minimum of 33 years, and a maximum of 57 years. median Body mass index was 28.4 kg/m2 with minimum of 22 kg/m2 and maximum of 38 kg/m2. All patients were treated 18 months after their bariatric surgery. All patients underwent an abdominoplasty as a body contouring procedure. 4 (26.7%) patients presented complications related to the surgery. Conclusion: We described a comprehensive and systematic approach to massive weight loss for male patients, suggesting an abdominal marking based on the patient’s clinical features and the expected results avoiding feminization of the abdominal body contour.

目的：检测和定量细胞中RNA的合成是一种广泛应用于监测细胞活力、健康和代谢率的技术。在环境刺激下，内参基因和靶基因都会发生一定程度的降解。因此，在受到环境刺激后，必须考虑对新生RNA的精确捕获和RNA转录水平的检测。方法：使用5-乙基尿苷(5-EU)对新生RNA进行标记，利用“点击化学”和磁珠筛选相结合的方法，将叠氮化物-生物素介质配体与磁球连接，随后捕获新生RNA并进行荧光分子信标(m.B.)和qRT-PCR方法检测16S rRNA转录速率。结果：本研究采用了“点击化学”和磁珠筛选相结合的RNA捕获方法，优化了革兰氏阴性菌，特别是大肠杆菌的转录速率检测方法。结论：与其他文章报道的利用磁珠筛选的实验方法相比，本研究采用的技术方案更适合细菌，操作步骤简单，易于实现，是研究人员有效的RNA捕获方法。

Cataracting-centrifuging transition investigation using nonspherical and spherical particles in a rotary drum through CFD simulations

This paper aims to systematically investigate the cataracting-centrifuging transition in a rotary drum involving spherical and nonspherical particles by using the multiphase Granular Eulerian model(mGEm).The effects of drum length and particle shape on the cataracting-centrifuging transition behavior were analyzed.The results showed that drum length plays an important role in the cataracting-centrifuging transition,although most related works in the literature do not consider this.The particle shape also significantly affects the cataracting-centrifuging transition behavior.Nonspherical particles required lower rotation speeds than spherical particles to reach the centrifuging condition.The particle shape was shown to be related to the critical solid fraction(asc)from Schaeffer’s model,although further investigations are required to completely correlate particle spherecity with critical solid volume fractions.

This article presents the first applied results of using citric acid in combinations with a melamine-urea-formal-dehyde(mUF)resin for bonding wood veneers.The chemical reactions involved are shown based on a mALDI ToF analysis of the reaction of the mUF resin with citric acid.The preliminary results of the physical and mechanical properties of the LVL prepared are also presented.Veneers from Populus sp were used to manufacture 5-layer laminated veneer lumber(LVL)of small dimensions.Five combinations of the amount of citric acid,mUF spread rate and pressing parameters were tested.LVL bonded with 20%of citric acid+100 g/m^(2)of mUF,hot-pressed using a 3-step process with maximum 1.5 mPa of pressure yielded the board with better dimensional stability and mechanical properties.It could be concluded that citric acid in combination with mUF can be used for bonding wood veneer and the research should be continued to study further the parameters involved and to enhance the results.

New insights for the catalytic oxidation of cyclohexane to K-A oil

Au-based catalysts have been reported to be active in the cyclohexane oxidation to K-A oil, but they showed some limitiations in terms of productivity, selectivity and required reaction conditions. The possibility to overcome some of these limits has been explored coupling Au with Cu, which can be suitable for undergoing the electron-switch in the initial step of the cyclohexane oxidation. Hence, a bimetallic 2 wt% Au Cu/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst was tested in the oxidation of cyclohexane, working at mild conditions of 120 ℃ and 4 bar of O_(2). The combination of the catalyst with a very small amount of benzaldehyde used as cheaper and non-toxic radical initiator allowed to obtain a very high productivity of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone(45 mmol*m L/mgmet*h) with a selectivity of 94%. moreover, comparing the catalysed reaction with the non-catalysed one, the role of the catalyst has been disclosed.

Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for thrombosis.Considering the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training model.The aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BFR on this molecule.methods:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of mL/min/1.73 m2).The RE+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 min sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).RE repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning specialist.Results:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dimer,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflammatory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD vintage.Furthermore,RE+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 h.Patients with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo RE+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during RE+BFR.
