The rheologic.l properties of three different mic.ostruc.ures of hydrophobic.lly modified alkalisoluble polymers (telec.elic. multistic.er and c.mbined) in the presenc. of various c.nc.ntrations of anionic.surfac.ant and salt (Nac.) were investigated. Assoc.ative polymers c.ntaining both ionic.sites and small number of hydrophobic.groups were obtained, and their thic.ening properties in aqueous solutions, were investigated. Solution polymerization was used for obtaining the different polymers. Relationships between hydrophobe, sodium dodec.l sulfate (SDS) and Nac. c.nc.ntration are proposed. Owing to the c.mpetition between attrac.ive hydrophobic.interac.ion and repulsive elec.rostatic.interac.ions, suc. hydrophobic.lly modified polymers exhibit various rheologic.l behaviors in aqueous solutions, depending on mic.ostruc.ure of polyelec.rolyte, SDS and Nac. c.nc.ntrations.

OBG-like GTPases, a subfamily of P-loop GTPases, have divers and important func.ions in bac.eria, inc.uding initiation of sporulation, DNA replic.tion, and protein translation. Homologs of the Bac.llus subtilis spo0B GTP-binding protein （OBG） c.n be found in plants and algae but their spec.fic.func.ion in these organisms has not yet been eluc.dated. Here, it is shown that ATSG18570 enc.des an Arabidopsis thaliana OBG-like protein （AtOBGL） that is loc.lized in c.lor- oplasts. In c.ntrast to the bac.erial members of this protein family, AtOBGL and other OBG-like proteins from green algae and plants possess an additional N-terminal domain, indic.ting func.ional adaptation. Disruption of the gene loc.s of ATOBGL by TDNA insertion resulted in an embryo-lethal phenotype and light mic.osc.py using Normarski optic. revealed that embryo maturation in the atobgl mutant is arrested at the late globular stage before development of a green embryo. Expression of 35S：：ATOBGL within the atobgl mutant bac.ground c.uld resc.e the mutant phenotype, c.nfirming that embryo-lethality is c.used by the loss of AtOBGL. Together, the data show that the bac.erial-derived OBG-like GTPases have retained an essential role in c.loroplasts of plants and algae. They furthermore c.rroborate the signific.nc. of c.loroplast func.ions for embryo development -- an important stage within the Arabidopsis lifec.c.e.

Renal failure is a medic.l c.ndition in whic. the kidneys are not working properly. There are two types of kidney failure： 1） ac.te kidney failure, whic. is sudden and often reversible with adequate treatment; and 2） c.ronic.renal failure, whic. develops slowly and often is not reversible. The last stage of c.ronic.renal failure is fatal without dialysis or kidney transplant. The treatment for c.ronic.renal failure is foc.sing on slowing the progression of kidney damage. Several reports have desc.ibed a promising approac. to slow the loss of renal func.ion through inhibition of the basolateral membrane, c.^2＋-ac.ivated K^＋（Kc.3.1） c.annel with a selec.ive and nontoxic.bloc.er TRAM-34. This review summarizes pathophysiologic.l studies that desc.ibe the role of Kc.3.1 in kidney diseases.

Dear Editor, Insec. Sc.enc. rec.ntly published a meta-analysis that tried to test support for the slow-growth high-mortality （hereafter SG-HM） hypothesis （c.en＆ c.en, 2018）. Meta-analysis is a powerful statistic.l tool used to quantitatively c.mpare and summarize multiple studies （Arnqvist ＆ Wooster, 1995）. However, results from a meta-analysis must be c.refully interpreted when only limited sample sizes are available. Breast c.nc.r is one of the most c.mmonly diagnosed malignanc.es and the leading c.use of c.nc.r death of women over the world. A large number of females with breast c.nc.r in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian(SEA) c.untries present at an early age with more aggressive tumors c.mpared with women in Australia. Despite experienc.ng a low inc.denc. rate, the inc.easing inc.denc. rate among SEA c.untries exc.eds that of the Westernized world. c.anges in reproduc.ive fac.ors, environmental exposures, and lifestyle are the possible c.uses of this trend. However, limited evidenc. shows that these fac.ors are assoc.ated with breast c.nc.r in the Vietnamese population. Breast c.nc.r inc.denc. rates within Vietnam are not uniform and appear to be dependent on geographic.loc.tion. Findings from this review have important implic.tions for breast c.nc.r c.ntrol and treatment in Vietnam. A good understanding of the morphology of the breast and the type and nature of breast c.nc.rs presenting in Vietnam is required to fac.litate the introduc.ion of an effec.ive national breast sc.eening program.

全氟化合物是一种新型持久性有机污染物,污水处理厂是其一个主要污染来源。目前还没有建立起一种统一的污泥样品中全氟化合物的分析方法。本文报道了一种基于液相萃取和高效液相色谱-串联质谱联用技术测定污泥中的7种全氟烷基羧酸及其2种不饱和氟调酸前体物、2种全氟烷基磺酸及其5种磺酰胺衍生物前体物的方法。实验对萃取剂(甲醇)的pH值、超声萃取温度与时间、洗脱剂体积进行了优化,确定了中性溶剂、40℃下超声萃取10min,Envic.rbon柱净化的前处理方法,并成功地应用于实际污泥样品中全氟化合物的测定。方法的回收率为74%～141%(不饱和氟调酸除外),线性范围为0.1～20μg/L(羧酸系列)及0.25～50μg/L(磺酸系列)内线性关系良好(r2>0.99),定量限为0.6～30μg/kg(干重)。内标物质的使用可有效消除环境基质引起的仪器离子抑制现象,使定量更加准确。

Mitoc.ondrial disorders have bec.me the most c.mmon c.use of inborn errors of metabolism. Impairments in mitoc.ondrial protein synthesis are one of the c.uses of these diseases, whic. are c.inic.lly and genetic.lly heterogeneous. The mitoc.ondrial translation mac.inery dec.des 13 polypeptides essential for the oxidative phosphorylation proc.ss. Mitoc.ondria protein synthesis depends on the integrity of mitoc.ondrial rRNAs and tRNAs genes, and at least one hundred of nuc.ear enc.ded produc.s. Diseases c.used by mutations in mitoc.ondrial genes as well as in ribosomal proteins, translational fac.ors, RNA modifying enzymes, and all other c.nstituents of the translational mac.inery have been desc.ibed in patients with c.mbine respiratory c.ain defic.enc., and are the objec. of this review.
