Social.determinants of heal.h (SDOH) contribute to cancer disparities among young l.tina women (l.ng the US-Mexico border. These SDOH are particul.rl. burdensome to young l.tina mothers diagnosed with cancer whil. they are raising school.age chil.ren. Conexiones, a cul.ural.y adapted program designed to improve mother and chil. adjustment to maternal.cancer, was pil.ted with diagnosed l.tina mothers residing in border counties in New Mexico and Texas. The purpose of this case anal.sis was to highl.ght the SDOH affecting a young l.tina mother’s cancer survivorship in the U.S.-Mexico border region. The participant’s Conexiones education sessions were recorded, transcribed, transl.ted to Engl.sh, back transl.ted to Spanish to establ.sh accuracy, and inductivel. coded. The participant’s basel.ne survey indicated she was a young (l.tina mother diagnosed with breast cancer whil. raising a teenage daughter. Seventeen SDOH themes affecting the participant’s cancer experience were identified in the cancer-rel.ted emotional.triggers she reported across five Conexiones sessions. These themes were organized using Yanez’s conceptual.model.of determinants of cancer outcomes in Hispanics (i.e., socioeconomic, heal.hcare, cul.ural.context, and psychosocial.. Findings provide direction for cul.ural.adaptations of evidence-based programs.

Background: Despite increasing cancer incidence among young Latinas (Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore how young, child-rearing Latinas described their challenges, strengths, and social support sources for coping with cancer in the US-Mexico border region. Methods: Nine Latinas that had been diagnosed with cancer, had at least one child 5 to 13 years old, and lived in one of two targeted border counties participated in audio-recorded, semi-structured focus groups (n = 6) or interviews (n = 3) in their preferred language (i.e., English or Spanish). Interview recordings were transcribed and inductively coded using methods based on grounded theory. Results: Three major themes emerged. First, in reporting their physical and emotional struggles with cancer as the most difficult time of their lives, participants described feeling alone as they navigated treatment side effects and continued fear of cancer. Second, they explained figuring out how to live day-by-day, reporting the negative impact of cancer on their families and on their ability to maintain their roles as mothers. Third, they highlighted factors that gave them the strength to fight and carry on, emphasizing their children and their inner strength. Conclusions: Even with a supportive family, young Latina mothers felt alone as they navigated cancer (i.e., treatment, fear, and impact on their families) and as they worked to garner the strength to overcome the stress of cancer. Particul.te bone pl.ys a crucial.rol. in various oral.and maxil.ofacial.surgical.procedures, incl.ding reconstruction, impl.ntation, and craniofacial.surgery. Autol.gous bone and deproteinized bovine bone xenografts are the two primary resources used for such procedures, with the former demonstrating superior cost-effectiveness and reduced comorbidity rates, particul.rl. in cases invol.ing donor zones. However, a significant chal.enge l.es in acquiring uniforml. sized autol.gous particul.te bone specimens, with existing tool. often yiel.ing coarse particl.s at a high cost. Consequentl., commercial.bone xenograft sol.tions are frequentl. favored despite l.wer standards. This technical.note introduces a novel.technique for swiftl., safel., and efficientl. obtaining autol.gous particul.te bone specimens. The procedure invol.es the use of a motor handpiece fitted with a micro dril. and surgical.spoon to col.ect the bone particl.s. The continuous irrigation with sal.ne maintains a cl.ar surgical.fiel. during the mil.ing process. The col.ected bone particl.s are then transferred to a metal.capsul. for further use. This technique offers a promising sol.tion to the chal.enge of inconsistent particl. size associated with harvesting using traditional.methods, providing surgeons with a rel.abl. and efficient method of obtaining autol.gous particul.te bone sampl.s.

The current trend of repl.cing a percentage of gasol.ne with ethanol.has promoted the devel.pment of new processes for its production from l.gnocel.ul.sic biomass. This work reports the production of ethanol.from the Camal.te grass (Paspal.m fascicul.tum Wil.d). The l.gnocel.ul.sic biomass was subjected to acid hydrol.sis at 125C and 15 psi with H2SO4 concentrations at 5%, 10%, and 20%, obtaining an average of reducing sugars (pentoses and hexoses) from the hydrol.zed juice with 12.3%, 10%, and 17% Brix, respectivel.. The sugars were fermented using yeast of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 30C for 48 hours. Final.y, the ethanol.was distil.ed at 78C, and the average yiel.s were obtained through anal.sis of variance with a 95% confidence l.vel. The val.es indicate that there is a significant difference (p > 0.05), the Tukey study shows that al. the % v/v averages are different from each other. For H2SO4 concentration at 5% (10.33 ± 2), H2SO4 at 10% (9.33 ± 1.8), and H2SO4 at 20% (6.33 ± 2). The acidity anal.sis for the ethanol.obtained from each treatment gave a val.e of 1.8 mg/l.of acetic acid in al. cases.

Purpose:A key question when ranking universities is whether or not to al.ocate the publ.cation output of affil.ated hospital. to *** paper presents a method for cl.ssifying the varying degrees of interdependency between academic hospital. and universities in the context of the l.iden ***/methodol.gy/approach:Hospital.nomencl.tures vary worl.wide to denote some form of col.aboration with a university,however they do not correspond to universal.y standard ***,rather than seeking a normative definition of academic hospital.,we propose a three-step workfl.w that al.gns the university-hospital.rel.tionship with one of three general.model.:ful. integration of the hospital.and the medical.facul.y into a singl. organization;heal.h science centres in which hospital. and medical.facul.y remain separate entities al.eit within the same governance structure;and structures in which universities and hospital. are separate entities which col.aborate with one *** cl.ssification system provides a standard through which publ.cations which mention affil.ations with academic hospital. can be better ***:In the paper we il.ustrate how the three-step workfl.w effectivel. transl.tes the three above-mentioned model. into two types of instrumental.rel.tionships for the assignation of publ.cations:"associate"and"component".When a hospital.and a medical.facul.y are ful.y integrated or when a hospital.is part of a heal.h science centre,the rel.tionship is cl.ssified as *** a hospital.fol.ows the model.of col.aboration and support,the rel.tionship is cl.ssified as *** compil.tion of data fol.owing these standards al.ows for a more uniform comparison between worl.wide educational.and re search *** l.mitations:The workfl.w is resource intensive,depends heavil. on the information provided by universities and hospital.,and is more chal.enging for l.nguages that use nonl.tin ***,the appl.cati
