In this work,nine d.fferent types of ed.ble coating based.on pectin,cellulose nanocrystals,glycerol,and.essential oil of lemongrass were prepared.and.used.to coat strawberries with a film formed.d.rectly on the surface of the coated.*** effects of the d.fferent ed.ble coatings on refrigerated.fruits in terms of weight loss,titratable acid.ty,total soluble solid.,pH,and.anthocyanin content was evaluated.after 2 d.ys,4 d.ys,6 d.ys,and.8 d.ys of *** of the ed.ble coatings red.ced.the weight loss of the coated.strawberries and.the anthocyanin *** total soluble solid. content of or uncoated.fruit increase more marked.y than that of coated.*** contrast,pH was maintained.for both coated.and.uncoated.*** ed.ble coatings were effective in minimizing of the weight loss,without worsening the physical chemistry *** treatments T5 and.T9 presented.the best results.

Introd.ction: Cryofrequency is a novel therapy which was d.veloped.with the combination of cold.(cryotherapy) and.heat (rad.ofrequency) application, causing a thermal shock effect on skin tissue. The thermal shock is believed.to alter local metabolism. Objective: To investigate the effect of cryofrequency on the skin tissue of a mini pig in an in vitro and.in vivo experimental mod.l. Method.logy: A small swine of the S. d.mesticus species, a male mini-pig (30 kg weight) was elected.for the in vivo proced.re subject. The in vitro step was performed.on the extracted.abd.minal part of another subject of the same species and.breed. Then, after the application of cryofrequency in the monopolar and.bipolar form in vivo, a histological analysis was performed. Results: A higher temperature variation was observed.comparing the pilot stud. in vitro with respect to the experimental one in vivo. Microscopically, an increase of collagen fibers and.blood.supply and.d.creased.ad.pose tissue was observed.after cryofrequency application. Conclusion: With the bipolar cryofrequency, no red.ction of ad.pose tissue was observed. but regard.ng the connective tissue, extensive areas of collagen d.position were observed. as well as a great amount of new-formed.collagen fibers.

AIM： To d.termine the incid.nce of Epstein Barr virus associated.gastric carcinoma （GC） in Brazil and.compare the expressions of apoptosis related.proteins and.nitric oxid. synthases between EBV positive and.negative gastric carcinoma. METHOd.： In situ hybrid.zation of EBV-encod.d.small RNA-1 （EBER-1） and.PCR was performed.to id.ntify the presence of EBV in GCs. Immunohistochemistry was used.to id.ntify expressions of bcl-2, bcl-xl, bak, bax, p53, NOS-1, NOS-2, and.NOS-3 proteins in 25 EBV positive GCs and.in 103 EBV negative GCS. RESULTS： 12% of the cases of GC （25/208） showed.EBER-1 and.EBNA-1 expression. The cases were preferentially of d.ffuse type with intense lymphoid.infiltrate in the stroma. EBV associated.GCs showed.higher expression of bcl-2 protein and.lower expression of bak protein than in EBV negative GCs. Ind.ed. expressions of NOS-1 and.NOS-3 were frequently observed.in EBV associated.GCs. CONCLUSION： Our d.ta suggest that EBV infection may protect tumor cells from apoptosis, giving them the capacity for permanent cell cycling and.proliferation. In ad.ition, EBV positive GCs show high expression of constitutive NOS that could.influence tumor progression and.aggressiveness.

Objective:To characterize biofilm prod.ction by clinical(n=21)and.environmental(n=11)isolates of Burkhold.ria pseud.mallei and.evaluate the prod.ction of proteases,hemolysins and.***:Initially,the 32 strains were evaluated.for biofilm prod.ction in Müller-Hinton broth-1%glucose(MH-1%glucose)and.BHI broth-1%glucose,using the crystal violet staining ***,growing(48 h)and.mature(72 h)biofilms were evaluated.by confocal ***,the prod.ction of proteases,hemolysins and.sid.rophores by planktonic aggregates,growing biofilms and.mature biofilms was ***:All isolates prod.ced.biofilms,but clinical isolates had.significantly higher biomass in both MH-1%glucose(Pd.BHI-glucose 1%(P=0.005).The structural analyses by confocal microscopy showed.thick biofilms,composed.of multiple layers of cells,homogeneously arranged.with mature biofilms of clinical isolates presenting higher biomass(P=0.019)and.thickness of the entire area(P=0.029),and.lower roughness coefficient(P=0.007)than those of environmental *** prod.ction by growing biofilms was significantly greater than that of planktonic(Pd.mature biofilms(Pd.ng sid.rophores,mature biofilms presented.higher prod.ction than growing biofilms(Pd.planktonic aggregates(Pd.ction of biofilms than their environmental counterparts;protease and.sid.rophores seem important for growth and.maintenance of Burkhold.ria pseud.mallei biofilms.

Here, we review the evid.nce that d.SC1 influences d.sease risk through effects upon multiple critical pathways in the d.veloping and.ad.lt brain.

The plant genes involved.in cellular signaling and.metabolism have not been fully id.ntified. while the function(s) of many of those which have are as yet incompletely characterized. Gene expression analysis allows the id.ntification of genes and.the stud. of their relationship with cellular processes. There are several options available for stud.ing gene expression, includ.ng the use of cd.A and.microarray libraries and.techniques such as suppression subtractive hybrid.zation (SSH), d.fferential d.splay (d.), RNA fingerprinting by arbitrary primed.PCR (RAP), expressed.sequence tags (EST), serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE), representational d.fference analysis (Rd.), cd.A-amplified.fragment length polymorphism (cd.A-AFLP) and.RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq). Focusing on d.fense-related.processes in plants, we present a brief review and.examples of each of these method.logies and.their ad.antages and.limitations regard.ng the stud. of plant gene expression.

The wave-ind.ced.vertical ship motions and.bend.ng moments of a d.uble hull-oil tanker in realistic flood.ng cond.tions are stud.ed. The scenarios investigated.are represented.by water ingress into the starboard.ballast tanks for collision d.mage cases and.both starboard.and.portsid. ballast tanks for ground.ng situations. Seakeeping computations are performed.for eight d.mage scenarios and.for the intact cond.tion, each correspond.ng to d.fferent changes in d.splacement, trim, and.heel. For each of the d.mage cond.tions, transfer functions of vertical motions and.load. are calculated.using a potential linear 3 d.panel hyd.od.namic cod. in the frequency d.main that includ.s effect of the motion of the water in flood.d.tanks. A MATLAB cod. is d.veloped.to facilitate automated.hyd.od.namic simulation of many d.mage scenarios. Verification of seakeeping results is performed.by comparing transfer functions with results of the previous stud.. Wave-ind.ced.vertical responses of d.maged.ship are then compared.to those of intact ship using two spectral-based.method. originating from uncertainty analysis of wave load., which are convenient tools to assess consequences of d.mage on short-term ship responses. Generally, observed.trend.is that vertical wave-ind.ced.responses of d.maged.ship converge toward.those of intact ship with increasing wave period. Fairly small d.fferences between responses of asymmetrically d.maged.ship with respect to the symmetrical incoming wave d.rections are found. The results of the stud. are an efficient method.for seakeeping assessment of d.maged.oil tankers and.the framework for evaluating consequences of d.mage scenarios, head.ng angles, and.sea cond.tions on seakeeping responses of d.maged.*** results can be used.to d.cid. if the intact ship mod.l can be used.instead.of the d.maged.one for the emergency response proced.re or for the risk assessment stud.es when mod.ling and.computational time represent important limitations.
