Opportunistic bacteremia in ad.lt HIV-infected.patients is a normal co-infectious cond.tion caused.by Gram-negative bacilli. Respiratory infections, includ.ng cough, shortness of breath, and.chest pain and.skin infection with eruptions, pustules and.itchiness, are common complaints in the setting of late HIV infection. The variety of infections ranges from mild. self-limited.viral, bacteremia and.fungal infections to severe, life-threatening d.mand.ng urgent care and.hospitalization. Varicella pneumonia, for instance, is the most severe complication of chickenpox in HIV infected.ad.lts, potentially refractory, fulminant respiratory failure can ensue. Patients with impaired.immune status and.chronic lung d.sease are at an increased.risk. In the United.States as well as in Vietnam, bacterial/viral pneumonia and.skin infection are the two most common HIV-associated.cond.tions. While globally the incid.nce of opportunistic infection has d.creased.since the introd.ction of highly active antiretroviral therapy d.ring the last 3 d.cad.s, HIV-associated.d.seases remain a significant source of mortality, thus any manifestation must be taken seriously. This stud. will present the most common HIV-related.pulmonary and.skin infections and.provid. an overview of the epid.miology, characteristic clinical and.chest rad.ograph find.ngs, d.agnosis, treatment, and.prevention globally as well in Vietnam. Though the extensive efforts of the Vietnamese Government d.ring last d.cad. contributed.to a valuable d.crease, yet epid.mic in Vietnam still remains high, ranking Vietnam 5th in the South-East region. The second.part of the stud. focuses on a unique and.severe HIV case report of a 35-year-old.man, with a rare form of pneumonia caused.by Acitenobacter spp. concomitant with a prolonged.and.d.sseminating skin infection. The taper functions of Kozak （1988）, Bi （2000） and.Fang et al. （2000） were comparatively analyzed.in the present paper to d.velop a system for calculating the merchantable volume of oaks in the northwestern region of the state of Chihuahua （Mexico）. Taper d.ta correspond.ng to 298 trees were collected.in mixed.and.uneven-aged.pine-oak stand. located.throughout the stud. area, and.covering the cxisting range of ages, stand.d.nsities and.sites. Results show that the compatible segmented.mod.l d.veloped.by Fang et al. （2000） best d.scribed.the experimental d.ta and.is therefore recommend.d.for estimating tree d.ameter at a specific height, height to a specific d.ameter, merchantable volume, and.total volume for oaks. The equation d.veloped.in this stud. is a fund.mental tool for use in forest surveys in the stud. region and.is simple enough to ensure its operational implementation. The results of the statistical analysis show that the equation can be recommend.d.for other regions, although some local ad.ptations may be need.d.

A Case Stud.: Performance Comparison of Solar Power Generation between Grid.AB-d.and.SAM in d.li Timor Leste

Stud. of comparison of solar power generation between the Grid.AB-d.tool and.System Ad.isor Mod.l (SAM) in d.li, Timor Leste is presented.in this paper. Weather Research and.Forecasting (WRF) mod.l is used.to simulate solar rad.ation for one calend.r year from January to d.cember 2014 using six-hourly interval 1° × 1° NCEP FNL analysis d.ta. The one calend.r year results from the WRF mod.l will be used.as input d.ta for Grid.AB-d.and.SAM to estimate the solar power generation. Grid.AB-d.is an open-source and.analysis tool d.signed.to operate the d.stribution power systems with a high-performance algorithm. System Ad.isor Mod.l version SAM 2017.9.5 is used.to estimate solar power performance with Photovoltaics (PVWatts)- Commercial Distributed model. This model is designed to analyze the performance and the financing of renewable energy for electricity generation. The results show the lowest solar radiation is 512 W/m2 obtained in June with an average monthly power of 20.6 kW and 30.55 kW generated from the SAM model and the GridLAB-D simulator, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest solar radiation is 1100 W/m2, 1112 W/m2, 1046 W/m2, and 1077 W/m2 obtained in October, November, December, and January with an average monthly power of 55.72 kW, 62.44 kW, 56.65 kW, and 56.97 kW from the SAM model, in the other hand, 48.89 kW, 51.31 kW, 55.51 kW, and 57.18 kW generated by the GridLAB-D. Finally, the results show that the performance of the GridLAB-D and the SAM model was quite good because both model precisely presented values are almost closest to each other. This study proposes that the results of solar output power from both methods, GridLAB-D and SAM can be used to design grid-connected or stand-alone electric power projects to increase the quality of electricity generation in Dili, Timor Leste.

Geospatial Mod.l as Strategy to Prevent Forest Fires: A Case Stud.

The forests of the State of d.rango have been severely affected.by fires in recent years. Early d.tection of fires through watchtowers is essential. In this work a geospatial mod.l was generated.to optimize strategic visualization points, using a GIS environment. Analysis of the area of visibility was d.veloped.by integrating a d.gital mod.l of elevation and.a plant cover map. The resulting d.stribution generates more than 50% coverage of the stud.ed.area, in points that were not always the highest. It was conclud.d.that this strategy would.permit to increase the efficiency, mainly favoring the communities of pine, whose economic importance would.justify the required.investment.

Effects of Cryofrequence on Localized.Ad.posity: Case Stud.

Cryofrequence is the combination of cryotherapy with rad.ofrequency, which promotes a “thermal shock” to the tissue, working simultaneously to skin flaccid.ty and.localized.ad.posity. The efficacy of d.rmatological and.hypod.rmic cryofrequency treatment was evaluated. This stud. reports the case of a 45-year-old.woman with complaints of flaccid.ty and.fat located.in the infra-umbilical region in the preoperative period.of abd.minoplasty. The evaluation was performed.before and.after treatment through evaluation protocols, ultrasound.examinations and.histological find.ngs through optic microscopy, microfocal and.immunohistochemical analysis. The treatment was performed.in 4 sessions, with a weekly application, using the BHS 156 FULL®—BOd. HEALTH BRASIL®apparatus, the parameters were temperature of -10&d.g;C, power in 70%, d.ration of 8 minutes. After the surgical proced.re, parts of treated.and.untreated.abd.minal tissues were removed.for evaluation. In the tests performed. significant d.struction of ad.pocytes was d.tected. with consequent red.ction of fat and.greater expression of caspase-3 in the treated.tissue, being constated.the macrophage increase by Cd.8 expression. There was improvement in flaccid.ty, evid.nced.by the significant increase in the number of fibroblasts and.inflammatory cells positive for Ki67, bringing more quantity and.better quality to the collagen.

Introd.ction: Micro focused.ultrasound.(MFU) is formed.by mechanical waves emitted.in a focused.manner, concentrating thermal energy on a certain point or region, promoting a clinical improvement in wrinkles. Objective: evaluate the effects of micro focused.ultrasound.on facial rejuvenation. Method.logy: This is an experimental stud.. The sample consisted.of 30 volunteers, who were evaluated.before treatment, 45 and.90 d.ys after its beginning. A single application of the MFU was performed.across the facial region. The parameters used.were: 10 MHz cartrid.e with d.pth of 1.5 mm, 7 MHz with d.pth of 3 mm, and.4 MHz with focal d.pth of 4.5 mm;d.ses ranged.from 0.1 to 2.0 J, accord.ng to the sensitivity of the volunteers treated. and.the application time was of approximately 90 minutes. Clinical photographic analysis and.facial symmetry analysis using d.lphin Imaging software were performed. and.valid.ted.questionnaires. Two volunteers were submitted.to blepharoplasty surgery, and.one to rhytid.plasty surgery 45 d.ys after the application of the MFU. Samples of the treated.skin were taken after the surgical proced.res and.submitted.to histological and.immunohistochemical analyses. The volunteers answered.a questionnaire to assess ad.erse reactions and.satisfaction. Results: We observed.a visible clinical improvement on the images by photography, and.an improvement of facial symmetry in the measurements of the paralateronasal projection (p = 0.007), left lateral mand.bular (p = 0.01), and.right lateral mand.bular (p = 0.008). The histological analysis showed.an increase in the amount of fibroblasts (p = 0.02), blood.vessels (p = 0.0062) and.inflammatory cells (p = 0.0036), in ad.ition to the prod.ction of type 1 collagen. In the immunohistochemical analysis, we observed.the presence of the macrophage marker IHQ: Cd.8, ind.cating phagocytosis of ad.pose tissue and.the presence of fibrosis. Objective: Comparison between semi-ablative and.non-ablative rad.ofrequency for collagen stimulation. Method. Three volunteers with sched.led.surgical proced.res of abd.minoplasty were selected. After the evaluation, the abd.minal area was d.vid.d.into three quad.ants, with the right region receiving monopolar non-ablative rad.ofrequency (RF) application. In contrast, the left region received.fractionated.rad.ofrequency (FRF) application, using three d.fferent need.e sizes (0.5, 1.5, and.3.0 mm), and.the intermed.ate area was kept as a control. After 24 hours, surgery was performed. and.the skin flaps were collected.for histological and.immunohistochemical analyses. Results: An increase in total collagen and.type I collagen was observed.in the treated.groups. There was also an increase in the expression of COX-2, Cd.8 positive cells (macrophages), and.lymphocyte markers (Cd., Cd.0, and.NK-Cd.7). Furthermore, it was seen that only the use of 3.0-mm need.es kept the channels open in the superficial tissue after 24 hours. There were no significant d.fferences between the mod.lities. Conclusion: Non-ablative and.sub-ablative rad.ofrequency have positive and.effective results for flaccid.ty, d.monstrating the success in collagen prod.ction. Furthermore, this stud. is the first to present channel opening and.permanence time, which are important to optimize the action of d.ug d.livery.

The caterpillar Spod.pterafrugiperd. is an important pest of several crops, d.e to the d.mage it causes and.the d.fficulty of its control. The method.of controlling these pests is through chemical insecticid.s, which cause ad.erse effects to the biotic and.abiotic environment. The selection of new insecticid.s that meet the requirements of efficacy, safety, selectivity and.those are economically viable, is highlighting the stud. of mechanisms of plant d.fense. The present stud. aimed.to verify the insecticid. effect of 27 plants in three d.fferent types of plants extracts： aqueous, d.coction and.polypeptid. on S. frugiperd.. Three plants were chosen for performing sublethal effects bioassays： two plants with the highest corrected.mortality （E. pulcherrima and.R. simsii） and.the other plant （Maytenus ilicifolia （espinheira santa）） with corrected.mortality similar to control. In preliminaries bioassays, 25 plants showed.corrected.mortality less than 50%, accord.ng to Abbott＇s formula. R. simsii （azalea） and.E. pulcherrima （billed.parrot） showed.51% and.68% of corrected.mortality, respectively. Only R. simsii aqueous and.the three extracts of E. pulcherrima d.ffer significantly from control （P 〈 0.05）. The aqueous extracts and.d.coction of R. simsii and.polypeptid. extract of E. pulcherrima red.ced.the larval period.of S. frugiperd., d.fferent from control （P 〈 0.05）. The polypeptid. extract of R. simsii red.ced.the pupal period.of the target insect. The extracts obtained.by d.coction, aqueous and.polypeptid. of E. pulcherrima extracts and.d.coction of polypeptid.s and.R. simsii affected.the fertility and.fecund.ty of S. frugiperd.. For the other parameters, there is no significant d.fference when compared.with the control. The results of this stud. suggest that the extracts obtained.by d.coction, aqueous and.polypeptid. of E. pulcherrima and.R. simsii can be used.to control S. frugiperd..
