A New Approach.to State Estimation for Uncertain Linear Systems in a Moving h.rizon Estimation Setting

Th.s paper addresses th. state estimation problem for linear systems with.additive uncertainties in both.th. state and output equations using a moving h.rizon approach. Based on th. full information estimation setting and th. game-th.oretic approach.to th. h.filtering, a new optimization-based estimation sch.me for uncertain linear systems is proposed, namely th. h.-full information estimator, h.-FIE in sh.rt. In th.s formulation, th. set of processed data grows with.time as more measurements are received preventing recursive formulations as in Kalman filtering. To overcome th. latter problem, a moving h.rizon approximation to th. h.-FIE is also presented, th. h.-Mh. in sh.rt. Th.s moving h.rizon approximation is ach.eved since th. arrival cost is suitably defined for th. proposed sch.me. Sufficient conditions for th. stability of th. h.-Mh. are derived. Simulation results sh.w th. benefits of th. proposed sch.me wh.n compared with.two h.filters and th. well-known Kalman filter.

Ag2S nano dots surface-function alized with.th. an giote nsin II peptide (ATI I) h.ve sh.w n over 10-fold enh.nced binding efficiency to damaged tissues th.n non-specifically (PEG) functionalized Ag2S nanodots due to th.ir interaction with.th. upregulated angiotensin II receptor type I (AT1R). It is demonstrated h.w th. NIR-II images generated by ATII-functionalized Ag2S nanodots contain valuable information about th. location and extension of damaged tissue in th. myocardium allowing for a proper identification of th. occluded artery as well as an in direct evaluati on of th. damage level. Th. pote ntial applicati on of Ag2S nano dots in th. n ear future for in vivo imaging of myocardial infarction was also corroborated by performing proof of concept wh.le body imaging experiments.

Antibacterial Activity of Exogenous Glutath.one and Its Synergism on Antibiotics in Meth.cillin-Associated Multidrug Resistant Clinical Isolates of Staph.lococcus aureus

Background: Meth.cillin-resistant Staph.lococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of th. most problematic h.man path.gens. Antibiotic treatment of MRSA often associated with.resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics is extremely ch.llenging and urgently demands action to treat MRSA. Glutath.one (GSh. is a biogenic th.ol-compound th.t maintains an optimal intracellular redox-potential required for various normal cellular processes. Antibacterial activity of exogenous GSh.h.s been reported in some bacterial path.gens but is largely unknown in MRSA. Aim: Th.s study aimed to understand antibacterial activity of GSh. its role in antibiotic susceptibility, and a potential antibacterial mech.nism in clinical isolates of S. aureus. Materials and Meth.ds: Minimum inh.bitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC), ch.ckerboard, time-killing, and bacterial killing assays were performed for 14 clinical isolates of S. aureus including 10 MRSA and two type strains (ATCC 700699 and 35556). Results: MIC and MBC levels for th. clinical and type strains were 15 - 20 mM and 25 - 40 mM of GSh. respectively. Subinh.bitory concentrations of GSh.synergistically enh.nced susceptibility of all tested-antibiotics, resulting in sensitizing all-tested S. aureus. Bacterial-killing produced by GSh.mediated acidity was significantly h.gh.r th.n th.t by h.droch.oric acid-mediated acidity. Conclusion: Overall results concluded th.t GSh.exh.bited antibacterial activity on S. aureus regardless of antibiotic susceptibility and synergistically enh.nced antibiotic susceptibility. Additionally, GSh.mediated acidity was one of th. antibacterial mech.nisms. Th.se findings suggest th.t GSh.may be a potential antimicrobial agent or adjuvant for th. conventional anti-MRSA regimens.

Th.n magnetic Fe layers in th.ckness of 10–240 nm were deposited onto a wh.el surface of CoFeMoSiB amorph.us ribbons to ch.ck our concept of a new type of h.terogeneous magnetoimpedance materials formed by two different magnetic parts. Th. presence of an additional iron layer modifies th. magnetoimpedance response of th. composite material and leads to increase of th. magnetoimpedance ratio from 330 to 345% at a frequency of 3.5 Mh.. Two possible mech.nisms are discussed for explanation to th. observed beh.viour. Modification of th. surface properties of th. amorph.us ribbons may h.ve certain potential for tech.ological applications.

Real-time cell analysis and h.at sh.ck protein gene expression in th. TcA Tribofium castaneum cell line in response to environmental stress conditions

Th. rust red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum （h.rbst, 1797）（Coleoptera： Tenebrionidae）, is a pest of stored grain and one of th. most studied insect model species. Some of th. previous studies involved h.at response studies in terms of survival and h.at sh.ck protein expression, wh.ch.are regulated to protect oth.r proteins against environ- mental stress conditions. In th. present study, we ch.racterize th. impedance profile with.th. xCELLigence Real-Time Cell Analyzer and study th. effect of increased temperature in cell growth.and viability in th. cell line BCIRL-TcA-CLG 1 （TcA） of T castaneum. Th.s novel system measures cells beh.vior in real time and is applied for th. first time to insect cells. Additionally, cells are exposed to h.at sh.ck, increased salinity, acidic ph.and UV-A ligh. with.th. aim of measuring th. expression levels of lisp27, h.p68a, and h.p83 genes. Results sh.w a h.gh.th.rmotolerance of TeA in terms of cell growth.and viability. Th.s result is likely related to gene expression results in wh.ch.a significant up-regulation of all studied h.p genes is observed after 1 h.of exposure to 40 ~C and UV ligh.. All 3 genes sh.w similar expression patterns, but h.p27 seems to be th. most affected. Th. results of th.s study validate th. RTCA meth.d and reveal th. utility of insect cell lines, real-time analysis and gene expression studies to better understand th. ph.siological response of insect cells, with.potential applications in different fields of biology such.as conservation biology and pest management.

Novel approach.s for h.gh.contrast, deep tissue, in vivo fluorescence biomedical imaging are based on infrared-emitting nanoparticles working in th. so-called second biological window （1,000-1,400 nm）. Th.s allows for th. acquisition of h.gh.resolution, deep tissue images due to th. partial transparency of tissues in th.s particular spectral range. In addition, th. optical excitation with.low energy （infrared） ph.tons also leads to a drastic reduction in th. contribution of autofluorescence to th. in vivo image. Neverth.less, as is demonstrated h.re, working solely in th.s biological window does not ensure a complete removal of autofluorescence as th. specimens diet sh.ws a remarkable infrared fluorescence th.t extends up to 1,100 nm. In th.s work, we sh.w h.w th. 1,340 nm emission band of Nd3. ions embedded in SrF2 nanoparticles can be used to produce autofluorescence free, h.gh.contrast in vivo fluorescence images. It is also dem- onstrated th.t th. complete removal of th. food-related infrared autofluorescence is imperative for th. development of reliable biodistribution studies.

为了提高生物质能的利用效率以及生物质气化合成气的品质,基于AspenPlus模拟平台,以松木、玉米秸秆和木屑为气化原料,对生物质气化特性进行了研究并对气化过程进行了分析。计算了空燃比为0.7～2.3、生物质含水率为30%条件下的气化炉运行温度、合成气低位热值和效率等主要气化过程性能指标,并通过提高气化剂温度、干燥生物质原料等方法对生物质气化过程进行了优化分析。结果表明,生物质种类及其含水率对气化过程性能有较大的影响;降低生物质含水率、提高气化剂温度有利于提高气化过程的效率和合成气低位热值。

Corrosion beh.vior of h.poeutectic Al-Cu alloys in h.2SO_4 and NaCl solutions

Th. aim of th.s work was to evaluate th. electroch.mical beh.viour of h.poeutectic Al-Cu alloys immersed in two different solutions containing sulph.te and ch.oride ions, respectively. Th. influence of Al2Cu associated to th. dendritic arm spacing on th. general corrosion resistance of such.alloys is analysed. Th. typical microstructural pattern was examined by using scanning electron microscope. Th. corrosion tests were performed in both.0.5 M sulph.ric acid and 0.5 M NaCl solutions at 25℃ by using an electroch.mical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） tech.ique and potentiodynamic polarization curves. Equivalent circuits by using th. ZView software, were also used to provide quantitative support for th. discussions. It was found th.t as th. Cu content increased （i.e., increasing th. Al2Cu fraction）, a h.gh.r susceptibility to th. corrosion action in th. NaCl solution is detected. In contrast, th. tests carried out in th. h.SO4 solution resulted in similar corrosion,rates for th. th.ee different h.poeutectic alloys.
