Minimally invasive surgery vs laparotomy in patients with colon cancer residing in high-altitude areas

BACKGROUND Colon cancer is associated with a higher incidence among residents in highaltitude *** environment at high altitudes inhibits the phagocytic and oxygen-dependent killing function of phagocytes,thereby increasing the inflammatory factors,inhibiting the body’s innate immunity and increasing the risk of colon *** To examine the effect of minimally invasive surgery vs laparotomy in patients with colon cancer residing in high-altitude *** Ninety-two patients with colon cancer in our hospital from January 2019 to February 2021 were selected and divided into the minimally invasive surgery and laparotomy groups using the random number table method,with 46 patients in each *** invasive surgery was performed in the minimally invasive group and laparotomy in the laparotomy *** conditions,inflammatory index pre-and post-surgery,immune function index and complication probability were *** Operative duration was significantly longer and intraoperative blood loss and recovery time of gastrointestinal function were significantly less(all Prences in serum C-reactive protein,interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-αlevels between the groups,whereas after surgery,the levels were significantly higher in the minimally invasive group(26.98±6.91 mg/L,146.38±11.23 ng/mL and 83.51±8.69 pg/mL vs 41.15±8.39 mg/L,186.79±15.36 ng/mL and 110.65±12.84 pg/mL,respectively,Prences in CD3+,CD4+and CD4+/CD8+levels between the groups,whereas after surgery,the levels decreased in both groups,being significantly higher in the minimally invasive group(55.61%±4.39%,35.45%±3.67%and 1.30±0.35 vs 49.68%±5.33%,31.21%±3.25%and 1.13±0.30,respectively,P<0.05).Complication probability was significant

Microscopic and spectroscopic analysis of atmospheric iron-containing single particles in Lhasa,Tibet

The Tibetan Plateau,known as the“Third Pole”,is currently in a state of perturbation caused by intensified human *** this study,56 samples were obtained at the five sampling sites in typical area of Lhasa city and their physical and chemical properties were investigated by TEM/EDS,STXM,and NEXAFS *** careful examination of 3387single particles,the results showed that Fe should be one of the most frequent metal *** Fe-containing single particles in irregular shape and micrometer size was about7.8%and might be mainly from local ***,the Fe was located on the subsurface of single particles and might be existed in the form of iron ***,the core-shell structure of iron-containing particles were about 38.8%and might be present as single-,dual-or triple-core shell structure and multi-core shell structure with the Fe/Si ratios of 17.5,10.5,2.9 and 1.2,***,iron and manganese were found to coexist with identical distributions in the single particles,which might induce a synergistic effect between iron and manganese in catalytic ***,the solid spherical structure of Fe-containing particles without an external layer were about 53.4%.The elements of Fe and Mn were co-existed,and might be presented as iron oxide-manganese oxide-silica ***,the ferrous and ferric forms of iron might be *** information can be valuable in expanding our understanding of Fe-containing particles in the Tibetan Plateau atmosphere.

Analysis on the Changing Characteristics of Meteorological Elements in Mount Qomolangma Nature Reserve

[Objective] The study aimed to analyze the changing characteristics of meteorological elements in Mount Qomolangma Nature Reserve.[Method] Based on the ground observation data of Nyalam and Tingri station in Mount Qomolangma Nature Reserve,temperature,ground temperature,evaporation,precipitation and snow depth were analyzed.[Result] Annual average temperature of Nyalam and Tingri tended to increase since the 1960s,especially Tingri *** mean ground temperature also increased since observational data was available in 1986,and was more prominent in Nyalam station,with growth rate of 0.9 ℃/10 a during recent 25 *** temperature in cold and warm season showed an increasing trend,but average temperature in cold season rose more fastly than that of warm *** was a regional difference in annual average precipitation and *** is,annual average precipitation and evaporation of Tingri station enhanced since the early 1980s,but those of Nyalam station decreased slightly since the late *** snow depth in the two stations showed decreasing trend,but the variation of snow depth in Nyalam station was greater,that is,the snow depth increased from the 1960s to the late 1980s,while decreased since the 1990s.[Conclusion] The research could provide scientific references for the protection of ecological environment in Mount Qomolangma Nature Reserve in future.

Early detection of colorectal cancer based on circular DNA and common clinical detection indicators

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide, and it is the second leading cause of death from cancer in the world, accounting for approximately 9% of all cancer deaths. Early detection of CRC is urgently needed in clinical *** To build a multi-parameter diagnostic model for early detection of *** Total 59 colorectal polyps(CRP) groups, and 101 CRC patients(38 early-stage CRC and 63 advanced CRC) for model establishment. In addition, 30 CRP groups,and 62 CRC patients(30 early-stage CRC and 32 advanced CRC) were separately included to validate the model. 51 commonly used clinical detection indicators and the 4 extrachromosomal circular DNA markers NDUFB7, CAMK1D, PIK3CD and PSEN2 that we screened earlier. Four multi-parameter joint analysis methods:binary logistic regression analysis, discriminant analysis, classification tree and neural network to establish a multi-parameter joint diagnosis *** Neural network included carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA), ischemia-modified albumin(IMA),sialic acid(SA), PIK3CD and lipoprotein a(LPa) was chosen as the optimal multi-parameter combined auxiliary diagnosis model to distinguish CRP and CRC group, when it differentiated 59CRP and 101 CRC, its overall accuracy was 90.8%, its area under the curve(AUC) was 0.959(0.934,0.985), and the sensitivity and specificity were 91.5% and 82.2%, respectively. After validation,when distinguishing based on 30 CRP and 62 CRC patients, the AUC was 0.965(0.930-1.000), and its sensitivity and specificity were 66.1% and 70.0%. When distinguishing based on 30 CRP and 32early-stage CRC patients, the AUC was 0.960(0.916-1.000), with a sensitivity and specificity of 87.5% and 90.0%, distinguishing based on 30 CRP and 30 advanced CRC patients, the AUC was 0.970(0.936-1.000), with a sensitivity and specificity of 96.7% and 86.7%.CONCLUSION We built a multi-parameter neural network diagnostic model included CEA, IMA, SA, PIK3CD and LPa for early detect

Triptolide inhibits TGF-β-induced matrix contraction and fibronectin production mediated by human Tenon fibroblasts

AIM： To determine if triptolide influences the contractility and fibronectin production in human Tenon fibroblasts（HTFs）. METHODS： HTFs were cultured in type I collagen gels with or without transforming growth factor beta（TGF-β） and/or triptolide. The diameter of the collagen gel was used to measure contraction. Immunoblot analysis was used to quantify myosin light chain（MLC） phosphorylation and integrin expression. Laser confocal fluorescence microscopy was used to monitor the formation of actin stress fibers. Fibronectin production was measured with an enzyme immunoassay. RESULTS： Triptolide inhibition of contraction in TGF-β-induced collagen gel mediated by HTFs was dosedependent and statistically significant at 3 nmol/L（P〈0.05） and maximal at 30 nmol/L and significantly time dependent at 2 d（P〈0.05）. Triptolide reduced TGF-β-induced expression of integrins α5 and β1, phosphorylation of MLC, and formation of stress fibers in HTFs. Furthermore, the inhibition of triptolide on the attenuated TGF-β-induced production of fibronectin by HTFs was concentration-dependent and significant at 1 nmol/L（P〈0.05） and maximal at 30 nmol/L. CONCLUSION： Triptolide suppress the contractility of HTFs induced by TGF-β and the production of fibronectin by these cells. It is promising that triptolide treatment may possibly inhibit scar formation after glaucoma filtration surgery.

Electric field(E-field)control of magnetism based on magnetoelectric coupling is one of the promising approaches for manipulating the magnetization with low power *** evolution of magnetic domains under in-situ E-fields is significant for the practical applications in integrated micro/nano ***,we report the vector analysis of the E-field-driven antiparallel magnetic domain evolution in FeCoSiB/PMN-PT(011)multiferroic heterostructures via in-situ quantitative magneto-optical Kerr *** is demonstrated that the magnetic domains can be switched to both the 0°and 180°easy directions at the same time by E-fields,resulting in antiparallel magnetization distribution in ferromagnetic/ferroelectric *** antiparallel magnetic domain evolution is attributed to energy minimization with the uniaxial strains by E-fields which can induce the rotation of domains no more than 90°.Moreover,domains can be driven along only one or both easy axis directions by reasonably selecting the initial magnetic domain *** vector analysis of magnetic domain evolution can provide visual insights into the strain-mediated magnetoelectric effect,and promote the fundamental understanding of electrical regulation of magnetism.
