Many breakthroughs in technologies are closely associated with the deep understanding and development of new material *** the main material used in microelectronics,Si also plays a leading role in the development of integrated *** indirect bandgap,absence ofχ(2)nonlinearity and the parasitic nonlinear absorptions at the telecom band of Si imposed technological bottlenecks for further improving the performances and expanding the functionalities of Si microcavities in which the circulating light intensity is dramatically *** past two decades have witnessed the burgeoning of the novel material platforms that are compatible with the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(COMS)*** particular,the unprecedented optical properties of the emerging materials in the thin film form have resulted in revolutionary progress in microcavity *** this review article,we summarize the recently developed material platforms for integrated photonics with the focus on chip-scale microcavity *** material characteristics,fabrication processes and device applications have been thoroughly discussed for the most widely used new material *** also discuss open challenges and opportunities in microcavity photonics,such as heterogeneous integrated devices,and provide an outlook for the future development of integrated microcavities.

Asymmetric resonant cavities(ARCs) with smoothly deformed boundaries are currently under intensive study because they possess distinct properties that conventional symmetric cavities cannot provide. On one hand, it has been demonstrated that ARCs allow for highly directional emission instead of the in-plane isotropic light output in symmetric whispering-gallery cavities, such as microdisks, microspheres, and microtoroids. On the other hand, ARCs behave like open billiard system and thus offer an excellent platform to test classical and quantum chaos. This article reviews the recent progresses and prospects for the experimental realization of ARCs, with applications toward highly directional microlasing, strongcoupling light-matter interaction, and highly sensitive biosensing.

Ground-state cooling of the mechanical degree of freedom is a fundamental requirement for quantum state transfer between relevant optical and mechanical ***,we fabricate optomechanical crystal cavities with co-localized mechanical and optical modes on a monolithic *** typical linewidth of the optical modes at telecom wavelength is as low as 0.95 GHz,and the mechanical resonant frequency is around 5 GHz,which means the optomechanical system can be operated in the resolved sideband *** the statistics of the asymmetry in the scattering rates of red and blue detuning driving processes,we initialize and characterize the mechanical system in its quantum ground-state of motion,with a mean thermal phonon occupancy nth=0.018±0.0034,corresponding to a mode temperature of 57.3 m *** is a general platform for quantum state transfer between relevant optical and mechanical systems,as well as the quantum entanglement between these systems.

The ringing phenomenon has been studied in optical whispering gallery mode(WGM)resonators and can be used to sense the ultrafast process in *** we observe the ringing phenomenon in a magnomechanical system for the first time,which is induced by the interference between the microwave photons converted from the damped phonons and the probing microwave *** interference eventually appears as a transparency window even along with the ringing phenomenon in the measured microwave reflection spectrum,which is influenced by the scanning speed and the input ***,the ringing spectroscopy is used to measure the coupling strength between the magnon and phonon modes,and outline the displacement profile of𝑆1,2,2 mechanical mode in a YIG microsphere,demonstrating the theoretical *** addition,the ring-up spectroscopy is developed in our magnomechanical system,laying the foundation for fast sensing based on mechanical motion.

Modern information networks are built on hybrid systems working at disparate optical *** interconnects for converting photons between different wavelengths are highly *** coherent interconnects have conventionally been realized with nonlinear optical effects,those systems require demanding experimental conditions,such as phase matching and/or cavity enhancement,which not only bring difficulties in experimental implementation but also set a narrow tuning bandwidth(typically in the MHz to GHz range as determined by the cavity linewidth).Here,we propose and experimentally demonstrate coherent information transfer between two orthogonally propagating light beams of disparate wavelengths in a fiber-based optomechanical system,which does not require phase matching or cavity enhancement of the pump *** coherent process is demonstrated by interference phenomena similar to optomechanically induced transparency and *** scheme not only significantly simplifies the experimental implementation of coherent wavelength conversion but also extends the tuning bandwidth to that of an optical fiber(tens of THz),which will enable a broad range of coherent-optics-based applications,such as optical sensing,spectroscopy,and communication.

BACKGROUND Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma(UPS)is a rare malignant mesenchymal tumor with a poor *** mainly occurs in the extremities,trunk,head and neck,and retroperitoneum *** to the lack of specific clinical manifestations and imaging features,UPS diagnosis mainly depends on pathological and immunohistochemical examinations for exclusive *** we report an extremely rare case of high-grade UPS in the common bile duct(CBD).There are limited available data on such *** SUMMARY A 70-year-old woman was admitted to our department with yellow eyes and urine accompanied by upper abdominal distending pain for 2 *** laboratory data suggested significantly elevated hepatorenal function *** imaging data revealed calculous cholecystitis,intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct dilation with extrahepatic bile duct calculi,and a space-occupying lesion at the distal *** endoscopic biliary stenting and symptomatic support therapy,CBD exploration and biopsy were *** frozen section indicated malignant spindle cell tumor of the CBD mass,and further radical pancreaticoduodenectomy was ***,the neoplasm was diagnosed as a high-grade UPS combined with the light-microscopic morphology and immunohistochemical *** This extremely rare case highlighted the need for increasing physicians'vigilance,reducing the odds of misdiagnosis,and providing appropriate treatment strategies.

We analyze the frequencies of three known roAp stars,TIC 96315731,TIC 72392575,and TIC 318007796,using the light curves from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey *** TIC 96315731,the rotational and pulsational frequencies are 0.1498360 day^(-1)and 165.2609 day^(-1),*** the case of TIC 72392575,the rotational frequency is 0.25551 day^(-1).We detect a quintuplet of pulsation frequencies with a center frequency of135.9233 day^(-1),along with two signals within the second pair of rotational sidelobes of the quintuplet separated by the rotation *** two signals may correspond to the frequencies of a dipole *** TIC318007796,the rotational and pulsational frequencies are 0.2475021 day^(-1),192.73995 day^(-1),and196.33065 day^(-1),*** on the oblique pulsator model,we calculate the rotation inclination(i)and magnetic obliquity angle(b)for the stars,which provide the geometry of the pulsation *** the phases of the frequency quintuplets,the pulsation amplitude and phase modulation curves,and the results of spherical harmonic decomposition,we conclude that the pulsation modes of frequency quintuplets in TIC96315731,TIC 72392575,and TIC 318007796 correspond to distorted dipole mode,distorted quadrupole mode,and distorted dipole mode,respectively.

Synergistic Impacts of Indian Ocean SST and Indo-China Peninsula Soil Moisture on the 2020 Record-breaking Mei-yu

The Yangtze River basin(YRB)experienced a record-breaking mei-yu season in June‒July *** unique long-lasting extreme event and its origin have attracted considerable *** studies have suggested that the Indian Ocean(IO)SST forcing and soil moisture anomaly over the Indochina Peninsula(ICP)were responsible for this unexpected ***,the relative contributions of IO SST and ICP soil moisture to the 2020 mei-yu rainfall event,especially their linkage with atmospheric circulation changes,remain *** using observations and numerical simulations,this study examines the synergistic impacts of IO SST and ICP soil moisture on the extreme mei-yu in *** show that the prolonged dry soil moisture led to a warmer surface over the ICP in May under strong IO SST *** intensification of the warm condition further magnified the land thermal effects,which in turn facilitated the westward extension of the western North Pacific subtropical high(WNPSH)in June‒*** intensified WNPSH amplified the water vapor convergence and ascending motion over the YRB,thereby contributing to the 2020 *** contrast,the land thermal anomalies diminish during normal IO SST backgrounds due to the limited persistence of soil *** roles of IO SST and ICP soil moisture are verified and quantified using the Community Earth System *** synergistic impacts yield a notable 32%increase in YRB *** findings provide evidence for the combined influences of IO SST forcing and ICP soil moisture variability on the occurrence of the 2020 super mei-yu.

Mechanism of local solidification time variations with melt rate during vacuum arc remelting process of 8Cr4Mo4V high-strength steel

A 2D axisymmetric numerical model was established to investigate the variations of molten pool with different melt rates during the vacuum arc remelting of 8Cr4Mo4V high-strength steel,and the ingot growth was simulated by dynamic mesh *** results show that as the ingot grows,the molten pool profile changes from shallow and flat to V-shaped,and both the molten pool depth and the mushy width ***,the variation of both the molten pool shape and the mushy width melt rate is clarified by the thermal equilibrium *** melt rate increases,both the molten pool depth and the mushy width *** is caused by the increment in sensible heat stored in the ingot due to the limitation of the cooling capacity of the *** nonlinear increment in sensible heat leads to a nonlinear increase in the mushy *** addition,as melt rate increases,the local solidification time(LST)of ingot decreases obviously at first and then *** melt rate is controlled in a suitable range,LST is the lowest and the secondary dendrite arm spacing of the ingot is the smallest,which can effectively improve the compactness degree of 8Cr4Mo4V high-strength steel.
