Role of social organization engagement in high-risk groups intervention against HIV/AIDS:a case study from 176 cities of China

Background: A high-risk prevention strategy is an effective way to fight against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The China AIDS Fund for Non-Governmental Organizations (CAFNGO) was established in 2015 to help social organizations intervene to protect high-risk populations in 176 cities. This study aimed to evaluate the role of social organizations in high-risk population interventions against HIV/AIDS.Methods: This study was based on the CAFNGO program from 2016 to 2020. The collected data included the number and types of social organizations participating in high-risk group interventions and the amount of funds obtained by these organizations each year. We explored the factors influencing the number of newly diagnosed AIDS cases using a spatial econometric model. Furthermore, we evaluated the effectiveness of intervention activities by comparing the percentages of the individuals who initially tested positive, and the individuals who took the confirmatory test, as well as those who retested positive and underwent the treatment.Results: Overall, from 2016 to 2020, the number of social organizations involved in interventions to protect HIV/AIDS high-risk populations increased from 441 to 532, and the invested fund increased from $3.98 to $10.58 million. The number of newly diagnosed cases decreased from 9128 to 8546 during the same period. Although the number of cities with overall spatial correlations decreased, the spatial agglomeration effect persisted in the large cities. Citywise, the number of social organizations (direct effect 19.13), the permanent resident population (direct effect 0.12), GDP per capita (direct effect 17.58;indirect effect -15.38), and passenger turnover volume (direct effect 5.50;indirect effect -8.64) were the major factors influencing new positive cases confirmed through the testing interventions performed by the social organizations. Neural Correlates of Spatial Navigation in Primate Hippocampus

The hippocampus has been extensively implicated in spatial navigation in rodents and more recently in bats.Numerous studies have revealed that various kinds of spatial information are encoded across hippocampal regions.In contrast,investigations of spatial behavioral correlates in the primate hippocampus are scarce and have been mostly limited to head-restrained subjects during virtual navigation.However,recent advances made in freely-moving primates suggest marked differences in spatial representations from rodents,albeit some similarities.Here,we review empirical studies examining the neural correlates of spatial navigation in the primate(including human)hippocampus at the levels of local field potentials and single units.The lower frequency theta oscillations are often intermittent.Single neuron responses are highly mixed and task-dependent.We also discuss neuronal selectivity in the eye and head coordinates.Finally,we propose that future studies should focus on investigating both intrinsic and extrinsic population activity and examining spatial coding properties in large-scale hippocampal-neocortical networks across tasks.

目的分析我国社会组织参与艾滋病防治基金(CAFNGO)支持的MSM干预项目艾滋病预防级联服务效果和主要差距,为提高社会组织艾滋病防治服务质量和项目管理优化提供建议。方法通过CAFNGO项目管理信息系统及访谈等收集指标数据和信息,对不同类型社会组织、不同地区的MSM干预项目艾滋病预防级联服务中HIV初筛和确证检测、HIV感染者发现和转介治疗等各项工作指标完成情况进行统计学分析,绘制服务链图。结果2016-2020年CAFNGO支持的1508个MSM干预项目,共动员1183234名MSM接受HIV检测,占社会组织申请HIV检测服务容量的68.8%(1183234/1719139),发现初筛HIV阳性55783人,HIV确证检测比例86.6%(48327/55783),新报告HIV感染者比例3.8%(45347/1183234)。2017-2020年新报告HIV感染者治疗转介比例89.8%(32719/36444)。未在民政部门登记的社会组织项目和在民政部门登记的社会组织项目分别占项目总数的75.8%(1143/1508)和24.2%(365/1508)。2种类型社会组织MSM干预项目的新报告HIV感染者比例(3.8%和3.8%)和新报告HIV感染者治疗转介比例(89.7%和89.9%)差异无统计学意义,但部分地区2种类型社会组织的2个指标存在差异,且差异有统计学意义。结论CAFNGO建立的重点人群艾滋病预防级联服务模式有效促进了MSM感染者早期发现和早期治疗工作,但在资金资助覆盖面、预防级联服务质量及社区组织提供级联服务能力等方面有继续改进的空间。

Physics-informed neural networks with residual/gradient-based adaptive sampling methods for solving partial differential equations with sharp solutions

We consider solving the forward and inverse partial differential equations(PDEs)which have sharp solutions with physics-informed neural networks(PINNs)in this work.In particular,to better capture the sharpness of the solution,we propose the adaptive sampling methods(ASMs)based on the residual and the gradient of the solution.We first present a residual only-based ASM denoted by ASMⅠ.In this approach,we first train the neural network using a small number of residual points and divide the computational domain into a certain number of sub-domains,then we add new residual points in the sub-domain which has the largest mean absolute value of the residual,and those points which have the largest absolute values of the residual in this sub-domain as new residual points.We further develop a second type of ASM(denoted by ASMⅡ)based on both the residual and the gradient of the solution due to the fact that only the residual may not be able to efficiently capture the sharpness of the solution.The procedure of ASMⅡis almost the same as that of ASMⅠ,and we add new residual points which have not only large residuals but also large gradients.To demonstrate the effectiveness of the present methods,we use both ASMⅠand ASMⅡto solve a number of PDEs,including the Burger equation,the compressible Euler equation,the Poisson equation over an Lshape domain as well as the high-dimensional Poisson equation.It has been shown from the numerical results that the sharp solutions can be well approximated by using either ASMⅠor ASMⅡ,and both methods deliver much more accurate solutions than the original PINNs with the same number of residual points.Moreover,the ASMⅡalgorithm has better performance in terms of accuracy,efficiency,and stability compared with the ASMⅠalgorithm.This means that the gradient of the solution improves the stability and efficiency of the adaptive sampling procedure as well as the accuracy of the solution.Furthermore,we also employ the similar adaptive sampling technique for the data points of boundary conditions(BCs)if

Role of oxygen vacancy inducer for graphene in graphene-containing anodes

Currently,graphene is only considered as a conductive additive and expansion inhibitor in oxides/graphene composite anodes.In this study,a new graphene role(oxygen vacancy inducer)in graphene/oxides composites anodes,which are treated at high-temperature,is proposed and verified using experiments and density functional theory calculations.During high-temperature processing,graphene forms carbon vacancies due to increased thermal vibration,and the carbon vacancies capture oxygen atoms,facilitating the formation of oxygen vacancies in oxides.Moreover,the induced oxygen vacancy concentrations can be regulated by sintering temperatures,and the behavior is unaffected by oxide crystal structures(crystalline and amorphous)and morphology(size and shape).According to density functional theory calculations and electrochemical measurements,the oxygen vacancies enhance the lithiumion storage performance.The findings can result in a better understanding of graphene’s roles in graphene/oxide composite anodes,and provide a new method for designing high-performance oxide anodes.
