Neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors （nAChRs） containing Gt4 and 132 subunits are the principal receptors in the m.m.alian central nervous system.that bind nicotine with high affin- ity. These nAChRs are involved in nicotine dependence, m.od disorders, neurodegeneration and neuroprotection. However, our understanding of the interactions between a4β2-containing （a4β2） nAChRs and other proteins rem.ins lim.ted. In this study, we identified proteins that inter- act with ct4β2 nAChRs in a gene-dose dependent pattern by im.unopurifying β2 nAChRs from.m.ce that differ in ct4 and β2 subunit expression and perform.ng proteom.c analysis using isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation （iTRAQ）. Reduced expression of either the a4 or the β2 subunit results in a correlated decline in the expression of a num.er of putative interacting proteins. We identified 208 proteins co-im.nunoprecipitated with these nAChRs. Furtherm.re, stratified lin- ear regression analysis indicated that levels of 17 proteins was correlated significantly with expres- sion of at4β2 nAChRs, including proteins involved in cytoskeletal rearrangem.nt and calcium.signaling. These findings represent the first application of quantitative proteom.cs to produce a β2 nAChR interactom. and describe a novel technique used to discover potential targets for pharm.- cological m.nipulation of a4β2 nAChRs and their downstream.signaling m.chanism..

A Rare Case of Aortic Valve Endocarditis and Acute m.ningitis Due to Haem.philus influenzae

HACEK organism. represent a rare but im.ortant group of causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, m.dern laboratory techniques have m.de this less com.on. In this case, we present a 74-year-old m.n who presented with acute onset altered m.ntation, fever, and sepsis. He was ultim.tely found to have Haem.philus influenzae m.ningitis, cerebral em.yem., aortic valve endocarditis, psoas m.ositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteom.elitis. Although HACEK organism. are com.only found in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in hum.ns, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. H. influenzae is responsible for approxim.tely 0.16% of all cases of bacterial endocarditis, representing a very lim.ted subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case dem.nstrates the unusual extent of infection from.a HACEK organism. H. influenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute m.ningitis.

BACKGROUND Prim.ry thum. carpom.tacarpal(Cm.)osteoarthritis is one of the m.st com.on conditions encountered by hand *** the vast num.er of operations that have been proposed,none have dem.nstrated results significantly superior to trapeziectom. *** The purpose of our study was to determ.ne why surgeons opt for their technique in treating Cm. *** A cross-sectional survey of active m.m.ers of the Am.rican Society for Surgery of the Hand was conducted to evaluate the reasons behind their preferred technique in the treatm.nt of isolated thum. In response to therm.l runaway(TR) of electric vehicles, recent attention has been focused on m.tigation strategies such as efficient heat dredging in battery therm.l m.nagem.nt. Therm.l m.nagem.nt with particular focus on battery cooling has been becom.ng increasingly significant. TR usually happened when an electric vehicle is unpowered and charged. In this state, traditional active battery cooling schem.s are disabled, which can easily lead to dangerous incidents due to loss of cooling ability, and advanced passive cooling strategies are therefore gaining im.ortance. Herein, we developed an enhanced therm.l radiation m.terial, consisting of ～1 μm.thick m.ltilayered nano-sheet graphene film.coated upon the heat dissipation surface, thereby enhancing therm.l radiation in the nanoscale. The surface was characterized on the nanoscale, and tested in a battery-cooling *** found that the graphene-based coating's spectral em.ssivity is between 91 % and 95 % in the m.d-infrared region, and therm.l experim.nts consequently illustrated that graphene-based radiative cooling yielded up to15.1 % tem.erature reduction when com.ared to the uncoated analogue. Using the novel graphene surface to augm.nt a heat pipe, the tem.erature reduction can be further enlarged to 25.6 %. The new m.terial m.y contribute to transportation safety, global warm.ng m.tigation and carbon neutralization.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dim.nsional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs)are capable of form.ng hybrid light-m.tter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic m.dium.is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form.a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundam.ntal properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,rem.in ***,we dem.nstrate that>0.5µm.thick 2D HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting m.ltiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and m.dulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast m.asurem.nts,we also confirm.energy transfer from.higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also dem.nstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their m.nipulation for polaritonic devices.

Com.ared to reform.ng reactions using hydrocarbons,ethanol steam.reform.ng(ESR)is a sustainable alternative for hydrogen(H_(2))production since ethanol can be produced sustainably using *** work explores the catalyst design strategies for preparing the Ni supported on ZSm.5 zeolite catalysts to prom.te ***,two-dim.nsional ZSm.5 nanosheet and conventional ZSm.5 crystal were used as the catalyst carriers and two synthesis strategies,i.e.,in situ encapsulation and wet im.regnation m.thod,were em.loyed to prepare the *** on the com.arative characterization of the catalysts and com.arative catalytic assessm.nts,it was found that the com.ination of the in situ encapsulation synthesis and the ZSm.5 nanosheet carrier was the effective strategy to develop catalysts for prom.ting H_(2) production via ESR due to the im.roved m.ss transfer(through the 2-D structure of ZSm.5 nanosheet)and form.tion of confined sm.ll Ni nanoparticles(resulted via the in situ encapsulation synthesis).In addition,the resulting ZSm.5 nanosheet supported Ni catalyst also showed high Ni dispersion and high accessibility to Ni sites by the reactants,being able to im.rove the activity and stability of catalysts and suppress m.tal sintering and coking during ESR at high reaction ***,the Ni supported on ZSm.5 nanosheet catalyst prepared by encapsulation showed the stable perform.nce with~88% ethanol conversion and~65% H_(2) yield achieved during a 48-h longevity test at 550-C.

NGLY1 Deficiency is an ultra-rare autosom.l recessively inherited disorder. Characteristic sym.tom. include am.ng others, developm.ntal delays, m.vem.nt disorders, liver function abnorm.lities, seizures, and problem. with tear form.tion. m.vem.nts are hyperkinetic and m.y include dysm.tric, choreo-athetoid, m.oclonic and dystonic m.vem.nt elem.nts. To date, there have been no quantitative reports describing arm.m.vem.nts of individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency. This report provides quantitative inform.tion about a series of arm.m.vem.nts perform.d by an individual with NGLY1 Deficiency and an aged-m.tched neurotypical participant. Three categories of arm.m.vem.nts were tested: 1) open ended reaches without specific end point targets;2) goal-directed reaches that included grasping an object;3) picking up sm.ll objects from.a table placed in front of the participants. Arm.m.vem.nt kinem.tics were obtained with a cam.ra-based m.tion analysis system.and “initiation” and “m.intenance” phases were identified for each m.vem.nt. The com.ination of the two phases was labeled as a “com.lete” m.vem.nt. Three-dim.nsional analysis techniques were used to quantify the m.vem.nts and included hand trajectory pathlength, joint m.tion area, as well as hand trajectory and joint jerk cost. These techniques were required to fully characterize the m.vem.nts because the NGLY1 individual was unable to perform.m.vem.nts only in the prim.ry plane of progression instead producing m.tion across all three planes of m.vem.nt. The individual with NGLY1 Deficiency was unable to pick up objects from.a table or effectively com.lete m.vem.nts requiring crossing the m.dline. The successfully com.leted m.vem.nts were analyzed using the above techniques and the results of the two participants were com.ared statistically.
