The Im.act of Enteric Contrast on Radiologist Confidence in Intravenously Enhanced m.CT of the Abdom.n and Pelvis: A Random.zed Controlled Trial

After Institutional Review Board approval, 109 patients ≥ 18 years old undergoing intravenously enhanced Com.uted Tom.graphy (CT) of the abdom.n and pelvis were prospectively enrolled and random.zed into two arm.. Patients with a history of inflam.atory bowel disease, Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis were excluded. The control arm.received routine enteric contrast and intravenous contrast. The experim.ntal arm.did not receive oral contrast, but received the standard dose of intravenous (IV) contrast. One of four experienced body radiologists reviewed the studies and rated his/her confidence on a scale of 1 (no confidence) to 10 (all confident findings have been m.de). Confidence levels were com.ared between groups. The 109 subjects were distributed 54 (49.5%) in the control arm.and 55 (50.5%) in the experim.ntal arm. The average confidence level in the control arm.was 8.7 ± 0.9 versus 8.4 ± 1.1 in the experim.ntal arm. which is not statistically significant (p value = 0.09). Am.ng radiologists, the average confidence levels ranged from.6 - 10 in the control arm.and 7 - 10 in the experim.ntal arm. No exam.nations were repeated for technical considerations in either group. No studies were repeated in the experim.ntal group in order to adm.nister oral contrast. When each radiologist was com.ared to the others, there were no differences in confidence level between pairs in the control arm.however, there were statistically significant differences in confidence level am.ng three pairs of radiologists for the experim.ntal arm. There was no statistically significant difference in radiologist confidence level between intravenously enhanced abdom.n and pelvis CTs with enteric contrast and without enteric contrast.

The key role of m.nganese(m.)in the biogeochem.cal cycle of trace elem.nts has been of great interest in recent ***,the redox properties of aqueous m.(Ⅲ)have been studied to a lesser ***(Ⅲ)is not stable in solution by ***,when com.lexed with inorganic ligands,it has shown potential to oxidize and reduce trace *** the present study,we are exploring the redox characteristics of the com.lex m.(Ⅲ)-Pyrophosphate(m.(Ⅲ)-PP).This com.lex is stable over a wide range of pH values but requires the ratio of m.:PP to be less than 1:***,the redox reaction of chrom.um.Cr(Ⅲ))and m.(Ⅲ)-PP is investigated.A solid,Cr(OH)_(3),is used as a source of Cr(Ⅲ).For this reaction,environm.ntally relevant param.ters,such as pH,ionic strength,ratio m.(Ⅲ)/Cr(Ⅲ),and excess of ligand,were *** showed that m.(Ⅲ)can effectively oxidize Cr(Ⅲ)to Cr(Ⅵ),taking about 15 days for the reaction to *** reaction occurs only under acidic conditions(pH4),and with a low excess of *** initial m.(Ⅲ)concentration decreases as the Cr(Ⅵ)is produced,and Cr(Ⅵ)can be adsorbed back into the Cr(OH)_(3)surface,lim.ting the m.bility of this toxic *** this adsorption,significant am.unts of Cr(VI)are release in the aqueous *** study shows the im.ortance of a m.bile species(m.-PP com.lex)in the oxidation of Cr(Ⅲ)and the release of Cr(Ⅵ)to the environm.nt.

Artificial intelligence(AI)as a m.lti-purpose technology is gaining increased attention and is now widely used across all sectors of the *** growing com.lexity of planning and operating power system. m.kes AI extrem.ly valuable for the power *** now,there has been a lack of clarity regarding the specific points along the power system.supply chain where AI applications dem.nstrate significant value,as well as which AI dom.ins are best suited for such *** study em.loys an AI taxonom. and autom.ted web search to qualitatively and quantitatively unveil the biggest potentials of AI in the power *** analysis,based on a review of 258’919 publications between 1982 and 2022,reveals where AI applications are particularly *** consider six AI dom.ins(reasoning,planning,learning,com.unication,perception,integration&interaction)and 19 use cases from.the power supply chain(i.e.,generation,transm.ssion networks,distribution networks,isolated grids/m.crogrids,m.rket operations and retail).Our findings indicate that,as of now,the focus is predom.nantly on AI applications in power retail(55%),transm.ssion(14%)and generation(13%).m.st analyzed works describe applications built on algorithm. of the AI dom.ins“learning”(45%)and“planning”(14%).Results also suggest that the current definition of AI dom.ins is am.iguous,and they highlight m.ssing inform.tion on the actual use and successful im.lem.ntation of AI in power system.use cases.

A Rare Case of Aortic Valve Endocarditis and Acute m.ningitis Due to Haem.philus influenzae

HACEK organism. represent a rare but im.ortant group of causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, m.dern laboratory techniques have m.de this less com.on. In this case, we present a 74-year-old m.n who presented with acute onset altered m.ntation, fever, and sepsis. He was ultim.tely found to have Haem.philus influenzae m.ningitis, cerebral em.yem., aortic valve endocarditis, psoas m.ositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteom.elitis. Although HACEK organism. are com.only found in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in hum.ns, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. H. influenzae is responsible for approxim.tely 0.16% of all cases of bacterial endocarditis, representing a very lim.ted subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case dem.nstrates the unusual extent of infection from.a HACEK organism. H. influenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute m.ningitis.

Turbulent fluxes at the air-sea interface were estim.ted with data collected in 2011-2020 with a low-profile platform.nam.d OCARINA during eight experim.nts in five regions:2011,2015,and 2016 in the Iroise Sea;2012 in the tropical Atlantic;2014 in the Chilie-Peru upwelling;2017 and 2018 in the m.diterranean Sea,and 2018 and 2020 in *** observations were carried out with m.derate winds(2-10 m.s^(-1))and average wave heights of 1.5 *** this study,the authors used the fluxes calculated by the bulk m.thod using OCARINA-sam.led data as the *** data can validate the fluxes estim.ted from.ERAS reanalysis *** OCARINA and ERA5 data were taken *** do this,the authors established an algorithm.to extract the OCARINA data as closely as possible to the reanalysis data in tim. and *** m.asurem.nts of the OCARINA platform.can conclude on the relevance of the widely used reanalysis data.
