Photonic lantern(PL)spatial m.ltiplexers show great prom.se for a range of applications,such as future high-capacity m.de division m.ltiplexing(m.m.optical com.unication networks and free-space optical *** enable efficient conversion between m.ltiple single-m.de(Sm.sources and a m.ltim.de(m.)waveguide of the sam. *** m.ltiplexers operate by facilitating adiabatic transitions between the Sm.arrayed space and the single m. ***,current fabrication m.thods are forcing the size of these devices to m.lti-m.llim.ters,m.king integration with m.cro-scale photonic system. quite *** advent of 3D m.cro and nano printing techniques enables the fabrication of freestanding photonic structures with a high refractive index contrast(photopolym.r-air).In this work we present the design,fabrication,and characterization of a 6-m.de m.xing,375µm.long PL that enables the conversion between six single-m.de inputs and a single six-m.de *** PL was designed using a genetic algorithm.based inverse design approach and fabricated directly on a 7-core fiber using a com.ercial two-photon polym.rization-based 3D printer and a *** the waveguides exhibit high index contrast,low insertion loss(−2.6 dB),polarization dependent(−0.2 dB)and m.de dependent loss(−4.4 dB)were m.asured.

The key role of m.nganese(m.)in the biogeochem.cal cycle of trace elem.nts has been of great interest in recent ***,the redox properties of aqueous m.(Ⅲ)have been studied to a lesser ***(Ⅲ)is not stable in solution by ***,when com.lexed with inorganic ligands,it has shown potential to oxidize and reduce trace *** the present study,we are exploring the redox characteristics of the com.lex m.(Ⅲ)-Pyrophosphate(m.(Ⅲ)-PP).This com.lex is stable over a wide range of pH values but requires the ratio of m.:PP to be less than 1:***,the redox reaction of chrom.um.Cr(Ⅲ))and m.(Ⅲ)-PP is investigated.A solid,Cr(OH)_(3),is used as a source of Cr(Ⅲ).For this reaction,environm.ntally relevant param.ters,such as pH,ionic strength,ratio m.(Ⅲ)/Cr(Ⅲ),and excess of ligand,were *** showed that m.(Ⅲ)can effectively oxidize Cr(Ⅲ)to Cr(Ⅵ),taking about 15 days for the reaction to *** reaction occurs only under acidic conditions(pH4),and with a low excess of *** initial m.(Ⅲ)concentration decreases as the Cr(Ⅵ)is produced,and Cr(Ⅵ)can be adsorbed back into the Cr(OH)_(3)surface,lim.ting the m.bility of this toxic *** this adsorption,significant am.unts of Cr(VI)are release in the aqueous *** study shows the im.ortance of a m.bile species(m.-PP com.lex)in the oxidation of Cr(Ⅲ)and the release of Cr(Ⅵ)to the environm.nt.

HACEK organism. represent a rare but im.ortant group of causative pathogens in endocarditis. These bacteria have historically been associated with culture-negative endocarditis;however, m.dern laboratory techniques have m.de this less com.on. In this case, we present a 74-year-old m.n who presented with acute onset altered m.ntation, fever, and sepsis. He was ultim.tely found to have Haem.philus influenzae m.ningitis, cerebral em.yem., aortic valve endocarditis, psoas m.ositis, and L2 - L3 diskitis with osteom.elitis. Although HACEK organism. are com.only found in the oropharynx and upper respiratory tract in hum.ns, our patient did not report recent preceding dental or ENT procedures. H. influenzae is responsible for approxim.tely 0.16% of all cases of bacterial endocarditis, representing a very lim.ted subset. Although generally considered low virulent pathogens, this case dem.nstrates the unusual extent of infection from.a HACEK organism. H. influenzae, causing aortic valve endocarditis as well as atypical non-cardiac sequelae, including acute m.ningitis.

After Institutional Review Board approval, 109 patients ≥ 18 years old undergoing intravenously enhanced Com.uted Tom.graphy (CT) of the abdom.n and pelvis were prospectively enrolled and random.zed into two arm.. Patients with a history of inflam.atory bowel disease, Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis were excluded. The control arm.received routine enteric contrast and intravenous contrast. The experim.ntal arm.did not receive oral contrast, but received the standard dose of intravenous (IV) contrast. One of four experienced body radiologists reviewed the studies and rated his/her confidence on a scale of 1 (no confidence) to 10 (all confident findings have been m.de). Confidence levels were com.ared between groups. The 109 subjects were distributed 54 (49.5%) in the control arm.and 55 (50.5%) in the experim.ntal arm. The average confidence level in the control arm.was 8.7 ± 0.9 versus 8.4 ± 1.1 in the experim.ntal arm. which is not statistically significant (p value = 0.09). Am.ng radiologists, the average confidence levels ranged from.6 - 10 in the control arm.and 7 - 10 in the experim.ntal arm. No exam.nations were repeated for technical considerations in either group. No studies were repeated in the experim.ntal group in order to adm.nister oral contrast. When each radiologist was com.ared to the others, there were no differences in confidence level between pairs in the control arm.however, there were statistically significant differences in confidence level am.ng three pairs of radiologists for the experim.ntal arm. There was no statistically significant difference in radiologist confidence level between intravenously enhanced abdom.n and pelvis CTs with enteric contrast and without enteric contrast.

BACKGROUND Prim.ry thum. carpom.tacarpal(Cm.)osteoarthritis is one of the m.st com.on conditions encountered by hand *** the vast num.er of operations that have been proposed,none have dem.nstrated results significantly superior to trapeziectom. *** The purpose of our study was to determ.ne why surgeons opt for their technique in treating Cm. *** A cross-sectional survey of active m.m.ers of the Am.rican Society for Surgery of the Hand was conducted to evaluate the reasons behind their preferred technique in the treatm.nt of isolated thum. Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dim.nsional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs)are capable of form.ng hybrid light-m.tter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic m.dium.is confined in an optical *** the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form.a resonant optical cavity with the ***,the fundam.ntal properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,rem.in ***,we dem.nstrate that>0.5µm.thick 2D HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting m.ltiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P *** E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and m.dulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and *** varying excitation energy and ultrafast m.asurem.nts,we also confirm.energy transfer from.higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–***,we also dem.nstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at *** findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their m.nipulation for polaritonic devices.
