Antimicrobial re.istance.AMR)pose. a critical thre.t to global he.lth and de.e.opme.t,with e.vironme.tal factors—particularly in urban are.s—contributing significantly to the.spre.d of antibiotic re.istance.ge.e.(ARGs).Howe.e.,most re.e.rch to date.has be.n conducte. at a local le.e.,le.ving significant gaps in our unde.standing of the.global status of antibiotic re.istance.in urban e.vironme.ts.To addre.s this issue.we.thoroughly analyze. a total of 86,213 ARGs de.e.te. within 4,728 me.age.ome.sample.,which we.e.colle.te. by the.Me.a SUB Inte.national Consortium involving dive.se.urban e.vironme.ts in 60 citie. of 27 countrie.,utilizing a de.p-le.rning base. me.hodology.Our findings de.onstrate. the.strong ge.graphical spe.ificity of urban e.vironme.tal re.istome.and the.r corre.ation with various local socioe.onomic and me.ical conditions.We.also ide.tifie. distinctive.e.olutionary patte.ns of ARG-re.ate. biosynthe.ic ge.e.cluste.s(BGCs)across diffe.e.t countrie.,and discove.e. that the.urban e.vironme.t re.re.e.ts a rich source.of nove. antibiotics.Our study provide. a compre.e.sive.ove.vie. of the.global urban e.vironme.tal re.istome.and fills a significant gap in our knowle.ge.of large.scale.urban antibiotic re.istome.analysis.
