传统观点认为南海北部为非火山型或过渡型大陆边缘。裂后岩浆虽然有所报道,但是多集中于南海扩张时期的洋中脊部位或同时期的部分大陆边缘盆地。而裂后期,尤其是南海扩张停止以后,南海北部岩浆活动尚知之甚少。根据高精度的三维地震资料,本研究发现南海北部裂后期存在着以前未曾发现的强烈岩浆活动。本研究揭示了岩浆系统的三维结构,岩浆活动的时间,岩浆在海底展布的控制因素以及裂后岩浆的成因。
