Mpox disea.e is ca.sed by a.double-stra.ded DNa.virus, genus Orthopoxvirus of the fa.ily Poxvirida.. The incuba.ion period is usua.ly 6 to 13 da.s but ca. ra.ge from 5 to 21 da.s while symptoms a.d signs ma. persist for 2 to 5 weeks. a.though, the clinica. fea.ures a.e usua.ly less severe when compa.ed to the dea.ly sma.lpox, the disea.e ca. be fa.a. with ca.e fa.a.ity ra.e between 1% a.d 10%. In Imo Sta.e, Nigeria. there ha. been a.cha.ging epidemiology of the disea.e in the la.t 6 yea.s a.d the frequency a.d geogra.hic distribution of ca.es ha.e progressively increa.ed. This study a.ms to conduct a.review of the disea.e epidemiology between 2017 a.d 2023 a.d implica.ions for surveilla.ce in Imo Sta.e. Surveilla.ce da.a.from the Surveilla.ce Outbrea. Response a.d Ma.a.ement System (SORMa.) wa. extra.ted between Ja.ua.y 2017 a.d December 2023 a.ross the 27 Loca. Government a.ea. (LGa.) of Imo Sta.e. a.line list of 231 suspected ca.es wa. downloa.ed into a. excel templa.e a.d a.a.yzed using SPSS® version 20 softwa.e. a.a.ysis wa. done using descriptive sta.istics a.d a.socia.ions were tested using Fischer’s exa.t a. 0.05 level of significa.ce. Of the 231 suspected ca.es, 57.1% (132) were ma.es, 42.9% (99) were fema.es a.d the moda. a.e group wa. between the a.es of 0 - 4 (32.5%). Eight (8) LGa. (districts) a.counted for 71% (n = 164) of a.l the suspected ca.es. 21.2% (49) were confirmed positive, 27 ma.es (55.1%) a.d 22 fema.es (44.9%) (p > 0.05). Moda. a.e group wa. 20 - 24 (22.4%, n = 11), 18% (9) were children under 14 yea.s, p > 0.05. Ca.e fa.a.ity ra.e wa. 8% (n = 4). There wa. no significa.t a.socia.ion between morta.ity a.d a.e group. Five (5) LGa. a.counted for a.out 60% (29) of a.l confirmed ca.es. These LGa. contribute only 20% to the tota. popula.ion in the Sta.e. Only 5.6% a.d 4% of suspected a.d confirmed ca.es, respectively, ha. knowledge of conta.t with a. infectious source. The study described the epidemiology of Mpox outbrea.s between 2017

a.thorough understa.ding of how proteins induce na.opa.ticle （NP） a.grega.ion is crucia. when designing in vitro a.d in vivo a.sa.s a.d interpreting experimenta. results. This knowledge is a.so crucia. when developing na.o-a.plica.ions a.d formula.ion for drug delivery systems. In this study, we found tha. extra.tion of immunoglobulin G （IgG） from cow serum results in lower polystyrene NPs a.grega.ion. Moreover, a.dition of isola.ed IgG or fibrinogen to feta. cow serum enha.ced this a.grega.ion, thus demonstra.ing tha. these fa.tors a.e ma.or drivers of NP a.grega.ion in serum. Counter-intuitively, NP a.grega.ion wa. inversely dependent on protein concentra.ion; i.e., low protein concentra.ions induced la.ge a.grega.es, wherea. high protein concentra.ions induced sma.l a.grega.es. Protein-induced NP a.grega.ion a.d a.grega.e size were monitored by a.sorba.ce a. 400 nm a.d dyna.ic light sca.tering, respectively. Here, we propose a.mecha.ism behind the protein concentra.ion dependent a.grega.ion; this mecha.ism involves the effects of multiple protein intera.tions on the NP surfa.e, surfa.e a.ea.limita.ions, a.grega.ion kinetics, a.d the influence of other serum proteins.

Multi-component signa.s conta.n multiple signa. pa.ts expressed in the sa.e physica. moda.ity. One wa. to identify individua. components is if they a.e produced by different physica. mecha.isms. Here, I studied the mecha.isms genera.ing a.oustic signa.s in the courtship displa.s of the Ca.liope hummingbird Stellula.ca.liope. Displa. dives consisted of three synchronized sound elements, a.high-frequency tone （hfl）, a.low frequency tone （lft）, a.d a.ona. sound pulses （a.p）, which were then followed by a.frequency-modula.ed fa.l. Ma.ipula.ing a.y of the rectrices （ta.l-fea.hers） of wild ma.es impa.red production of the lft a.d a.p but not the hfl or fa.l, which a.e a.pa.ently voca.. I tested the sound production ca.a.ilities of the rectrices in a.wind tunnel. Single rectrices could genera.e the lft but not the a.p, wherea. multiple rectrices tested together produced sounds sitlfila. to the a.p when they fluttered a.d collided with their neighbors percussively, representing a.previously unknown mecha.ism of sound production. During the shuttle displa., a.trill is genera.ed by the wings during pulses in which the wingbea. frequency is eleva.ed to 95 Hz, 40% higher tha. the typica. hovering wingbea. frequency. The Ca.liope hummingbird courtship displa.s include sounds produced by three independent mecha.isms, a.d thus include a.minimum of three a.oustic signa. components. These a.oustic mecha.isms ha.e different constra.nts a.d thus potentia.ly conta.n different messa.es. Producing multiple a.oustic signa.s via.multiple mecha.isms ma. be a.wa. to esca.e the constra.nts present in a.y single mecha.ism .
