The accumulation of undesirable deposits on the heat exchange surface represents a critical issue in industrial heat *** experimental measurements of the fouling is relatively difficult and,often,this method does not lead to precise *** overcome these problems,in the present study,a new approach based on an Artificial Neural Network(ANN)is used to predict the fouling resistance as a function of specific measurable variables in the phosphoric acid concentration *** include:the phosphoric acid inlet and outlet temperatures,the steam temperature,the phosphoric acid density,the phosphoric acid volume flow rate circulating in the *** statistical accuracy indices are employed simultaneously to justify the interrelation between these independent variables and the fouling resistance and to select the best training algorithm allowing the determination of the optimal number of hidden *** particular,the BFGS quasi-Newton back-propagation approach is found to be the most performing of the considered training ***,the best topology ANN for the shell and tube heat exchanger is obtained with a network consisting of one hidden layer with 13 neurons using a tangent sigmoid transfer function for the hidden and output *** model predicts the experimental values of the fouling resistance with AARD%=0.065,MSE=2.168×10^(−11),RMSE=4.656×10^(−6)and r^(2)=0.994.

A particle breakage has a significant impact on the mechanical behavior of granular materials. In this paper, we present an elasto-plastic model with two yield surfaces to which the influence of particle breakage has been introduced. The main feature of this model is to incorporate the change in the critical state line (CSL) consequent to the grain breakage induced by isotropic and deviatoric stresses during loading. For this purpose we propose a breakage function which connects the evolution of the CSL to the energy consumed. Results from earlier studies on drained and undrained compression and extension triaxial tests were used to calibrate and validate the model. Comparison between earlier results and our simulations indicates that the model can reproduce with good accuracy the mechanical behavior of crushable granular materials and predict the evolution of the grain size distribution during loading.

Recent studies have pointed out the potential of the odd Fréchet family(or class)of continuous distributions in fitting data of all *** this article,we propose an extension of this family through the so-called“Topp-Leone strategy”,aiming to improve its overall flexibility by adding a shape *** main objective is to offer original distributions with modifiable properties,from which adaptive and pliant statistical models can be *** the new family,these aspects are illustrated by the means of comprehensive mathematical and numerical *** particular,we emphasize a special distribution with three parameters based on the exponential *** related model is shown to be skillful to the fitting of various lifetime data,more or less *** all the possible applications,we consider two data sets of current interest,linked to the COVID-19 *** concern daily cases confirmed and recovered in Pakistan from March 24 to April 28,*** a result of our analyzes,the proposed model has the best fitting results in comparison to serious challengers,including the former odd Fréchet model.

The dominant hydride precipitates have been well demonstrated to follow two types of orientation relationships(ORs)with Ti matrix:OR1 with{0001}//{001},//and OR2 with{0001}//{111},//.Within the grains with special orientations,the complicated interactions of different hydride variants inside Ti-hydride diffusion layer are characterized in this *** OR1 hydride layer,the orientations of{1010}plane parallel to the sample surface and a-axis parallel to the normal direction prefer multiple OR1 *** orientations favorable for OR2 hydride layer are:{1013}plane parallel to sample surface corresponding to the layer with one OR2 variant dominated and c-axis parallel to the surface normal with multiple OR2 variant layer ***,{1012}extension twins and{1122}contraction twins are activated to accommodate the OR2 hydride-induced surface expansion and local misfit *** stimulation of these two twins is also orientation-dependent:{1012}and{1122}twins are observed in the grains with c-axis parallel to and deviated from the surface normal,*** further variant selection for each twin mode is performed through shear accommodation of hydride-twin pairs.

Climate change induces profound changes in mountain territories that affect the activities pursued *** is one activity that is strongly impacted by these *** research on tourism in mountain regions has focused on winter sports tourism,but glacier tourism,a summer activity,is also severely affected by climate change-induced phenomena,including glacier retreat and other geomorphological *** that Alpine glacier tourism has been pursued since the 18th century and glaciers have been changing throughout this period,this article aims to examine the adaptations implemented by glacier tourism operators since the activity’s *** analysis of historical documents,glaciological surveys and semi-structured interviews,this paper reveals how tourism activities around the Mer de Glace(the largest French glacier)have been impacted by glacier fluctuations since the first visit to the area in *** study reveals that these developments have mainly been driven by glacier retreat and associated paraglacial *** recently,the shortening of the period of snow cover on the glacier has also impacted tourism *** of the adaptation strategies implemented by tourism operators during the period in question are found to be reactive,consisting in the installation of safety equipment,the renovation of access points or the building of new structures to allow tourist activities to continue despite the consequences of glacier *** strategies,such as the adoption of new activities by workers previously specialised in another,are identified that could be considered transformative strategies,although these were only adopted by workers when their activity was no longer *** analysis of materials from 1741 to the present also reveals that the recent impacts of climate change on glacier tourism are much more significant and diverse than those produced by past ***,it is important that stakeholders take suit

Tackling binary program analysis problems has traditionally implied manually defining rules and heuristics,a tedious and time consuming task for human *** order to improve automation and scalability,we propose an alternative direction based on distributed representations of binary programs with applicability to a number of downstream *** introduce Bin2vec,a new approach leveraging Graph Convolutional Networks(GCN)along with computational program graphs in order to learn a high dimensional representation of binary executable *** demonstrate the versatility of this approach by using our representations to solve two semantically different binary analysis tasks–functional algorithm classification and vulnerability *** compare the proposed approach to our own strong baseline as well as published results,and demonstrate improvement over state-of-the-art methods for both *** evaluated Bin2vec on 49191 binaries for the functional algorithm classification task,and on 30 different CWE-IDs including at least 100 CVE entries each for the vulnerability discovery *** set a new state-of-the-art result by reducing the classification error by 40%compared to the source-code based inst2vec approach,while working on binary *** almost every vulnerability class in our dataset,our prediction accuracy is over 80%(and over 90%in multiple classes).

According to the developmental origin of health and disease concept,the risk of many age-related diseases is not only determined by genetic and adult lifestyle factors but also by factors acting during early *** particular,maternal obesity and neonatal accelerated growth predispose offspring to overweight and type 2 diabetes(T2 D) in *** concept mainly relies on the developmental plasticity of adipose tissue and pancreatic β-cell programming in response to suboptimal milieu during the perinatal *** changes result in unhealthy hypertrophic adipocytes with decreased capacity to store fat,lowgrade inflammation and loss of insulin-producing pancreatic β-*** the past years,many efforts have been made to understand how maternal obesity induces long-lasting adipose tissue and pancreatic β-cell dysfunction in offspring and what are the molecular basis of the transgenerational inheritance of T2 *** particular,rodent studies have shed light on the role of epigenetic mechanisms in linking maternal nutritional manipulations to the risk for T2 D in *** this review,we discuss epigenetic adipocyte and β-cell remodeling during development in the progeny of obese mothers and the persistence of these marks as a basis of obesity and T2 D predisposition.

We propose a hierarchy of novel absorbing boundary conditions for the onedimensional stationary Schr¨odinger equation with general(linear and nonlinear)*** accuracy of the new absorbing boundary conditions is investigated numerically for the computation of energies and ground-states for linear and nonlinear Schr¨odinger *** turns out that these absorbing boundary conditions and their variants lead to a higher accuracy than the usual Dirichlet boundary ***,we give the extension of these ABCs to N-dimensional stationary Schr¨odinger equations.

International ports play critical roles in maintaining transportation flows and sustaining the effectiveness of global maritime *** the concept of versatile ports has been introduced to represent the specific patterns that these ports play at the regional and global levels,there is still a need for the design and development of computational approaches that support these *** paper introduces a flexible multi-layer network approach for an international maritime network whose interest is that it offers a flexible model that favours the identification of the different transportation flows and versatile *** model is complemented by a series of structural indices complemented by a new overlap measure that evaluates the specific role of a given port across various transportation *** whole approach is implemented and experimented with using massive AIS maritime data that supports the automatic generation of the multi-layer network,and derivation of the structural measures while maintaining a flexible view of the maritime *** experiments applied to the global maritime transportation network identify key versatile ports and highlight significant differences at the regional and trade flow levels.
