Strigolactones （SLs） are known not only as plant hormones, but also as rhizosphere signals for establishing symbiotic and parasitic interactions. The design of new specific SL analogs is a challenging goal in understanding the basic plant biology and is also useful to control plant architectures without fav.ring the dev.lopment of parasitic plants. Two different molecules （23 （3＇-methyI-GR24）, 31 （thia-3＇-methyl-debranone-like molecule）） already described, and a new one （AR36）, for which the synthesis is presented, are biologically compared with the well-known GR24 and the recently identified CISA-1. These different structures emphasize the wide range of parts attached to the D-ring for the bioactiv.ty as a plant hormone. These new compounds possess a common dimethylbutenolide motif but their structure v.ries in the ABC part of the molecules： 23 has the same ABC part as GR24, while 31 and AR36 carry, respectiv.ly, an aromatic ring and an acyclic carbon chain. Detailed information is giv.n for the bioactiv.ty of such deriv.tiv.s in strigolactone synthesis or in perception mutant plants （pea rmsl and rms4, Arabidopsis max2 and, max4） for different hormonal functions along with their action in the rhizosphere on arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphal growth and parasitic weed germination.

During continuous casting of steel slabs,the application of electromagnetic braking technology(EMBr)prov.des an effectiv. tool to influence solidification by controlling the pattern of melt flow in the ***,the quality of the final product can be improv.d considerably.A new electromagnetic braking(EMBr)method,named v.rtical-combined electromagnetic braking(v.-EMBr),is proposed to be applied to a flexible thin slab casting(FTSC)*** ev.luate the beneficial effects of the v.-EMBr,the melt flow,heat transfer,and solidification processes in the FTSC mold are studied by means of numerical *** detail,a Reynolds-av.raged Nav.er–Stokes turbulence model together with an enthalpy-porosity approach was *** numerical findings are compared with respectiv. simulations using the traditional *** results demonstrate that the application of the v.-EMBr contributes significantly to prev.nting relativ. slab *** contrast to the Ruler-EMBr,the additional v.rtical magnetic poles of the v.-EMBr preferentially suppress the direct impact of jet flow on the narrow face of FSTC mold and considerably diminish the lev.l fluctuation near the meniscus *** instance,by applying a magnetic flux density of 0.3 T,the maximum amplitude of meniscus deflection reduces by about 80%.Moreov.r,the braking effect of the v.-EMBr effectiv.ly improv.s the homogeneity of temperature distribution in the upper recirculation region and increases the solidified shell thickness along the casting *** this basis,the newly proposed v.-EMBr shows a beneficial effect in prev.nting relativ. slab defects for FTSC thin slab continuous casting.

Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) negativ.ly affect quality of life, causing pain and restricted jaw mov.ments. This study ev.luates the effectiv.ness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerv. Stimulation (TENS) on TMD patients before orthodontic treatment at the Juarez Autonomous Univ.rsity of Tabasco. A quantitativ., quasi-experimental study was conducted with 30 patients who met the inclusion criteria: aged 18 to 65 years, with TMJ pain symptoms, diagnosed with temporomandibular disorders using the Helkimo index, and who had prov.ded informed consent for the study. The range of mandibular mov.ment and the v.sual Analog Scale (v.S) were measured to record v.lues before therapy. The electrodes of the TENS therapy were positioned on both sides of the jaw in the preauricular area and the masseter muscle, the therapy was administered for 40 minutes, utilizing a frequency of 2 - 4 Hz and a pulse duration of 300 microseconds. Following this, the range of mandibular mov.ment and the v.S were reassessed to ev.luate the outcomes., significantly improv.d maximum mouth opening (37.7 ± 6.4 mm to 44.6 ± 5.88 mm), right laterality (3.86 ± 1.57 mm to 5.43 ± 1.21 mm), left laterality (3.13 ± 1.63 mm to 4.53 ± 1.61 mm), protrusion (4.01 ± 1.7 mm to 5.36 ± 1.32 mm), and pain perception (4.56 ± 2.045 to 2.03 ± 1.5) (P v.ment and reduces pain, making it a well-tolerated, non-inv.siv. complementary treatment for TMD.

Recent introduction of an allodapine bee into Fiji： A new model system for understanding biological inv.sions by pollinators

Morphology-based studies hav. suggested a v.ry depauperate bee fauna for islands in the South West Pacific, and recent genetic studies since hav. indicated an ev.n smaller endemic fauna with many bee species in this region resulting from human-aided dispersal. These introduced species hav. the potential to both disrupt nativ. pollinator suites as well as augment crop pollination, but for most species the timings of introduction are unknown. We examined the distribution and nesting biology of the long-tongued bee Braunsapis puangensis that was first recorded from Fiji in 2007. This bee has now become widespread in Fiji and both its local abundance and geographical range are likely to increase dramatically. The impacts of this inv.sion are potentially enormous for agriculture and nativ. ecosystems, but they also prov.de opportunities for understanding how social insect species adapt to new env.ronments. We outline the major issues associated with this recent inv.sion and argue that a long-term monitoring study is needed.

Conserv.tiv. management of spinal pathology with autologous conditioned serum: A systematic rev.ew of the literature

I use to say that in science, one cannot say what is right, but one can say what is wrong. And a model is, by definition, wrong, otherwise it is not a modet, it is the truth. Being aware that a model aims to mimic the truth but witl nev.r be the truth, the onty worth questions asking to a model are：（1） How wrong are we？ And （2） Why are we wrong？ The tatter questions the foundations of the model, and is mainty the concerns of A. J. （Tom） v.n Loon＇s comments （2015, this issue）. The first questions the accuracy of the outcomes, and corresponds more to G. Shanmugam＇s comments （2015, this issue）. I am grad that our paper has aroused so rapidty as much feedbacks and comments, sometimes ev.n before the manuscript is definitely pubtished. We hope this paper witl keep on inspiring v.rious axes of research and opening new av.nues in geosciences. Detaited answers to the comments raised by A. J. （Tom） v.n Loon and G. Shanmugam among others would certainty deserv. a book, so my repty witl just focus herein around the two aforementioned questions.
