Four-wire measurements have been introduced by lord Kelvin in 1861 and have since become the standard technique for characterizing small resistances and ***,high-density 4-wire measurements are generally complex,time-consuming,and inefficient because of constraints on interconnects,pads,external wires,and mechanical contacts,thus reducing reproducibility,statistical significance,and throu ***,we introduce,systematically design,analyze,and experimentally validate zero interconnect networks interfaced to external instrumentation by couples of twin wire.3D-printed holders with magnets,interconnects,nonadhesive layers,and spacers can effortlessly establish excellent electrical connections with tunable or minimum contact forces and enable accurate measurements even for delicate devices,such as thin metals on soft *** an example,we measured all the resistances of a twin-wire 29-resistor network made of silver-nanoparticle ink printed on polyimide,paper,or photo paper,including during sintering or temperature calibration,resulting in anunprecedentedly easy and accurate characterization of both resistivity and its temperature *** theoretical framework and experimental strategies reported here represent a breakthrough toward zero interconnect,simple,and efficient high-density 4-wire characterizations,can be generalized to other 4-wire measurements(impedances,sensors)and can open the way to more statistically meaningful and reproducible analyses of materials,high-throughput measurements,and minimally invasive characterizations of biomaterials.

A bulging intervertebral disc (IVD) occurs when pressure on a spinal disc damages the once healthy disc,causing it to compress or change its normal *** medicine,most attention has been paid clinically to diagnosis of and treatment for such problems,which little effect has been made to understand such issues from a mechanics perspective,i.e.,the bulging deformation of the soft IVD induced by excessive compressive *** report herein a simple elasticity solution to understand the bulging disc *** simplicity,the soft IVD is modeled as an incompressible circular composite layer consisting of an inner nucleus and outer annulus,sandwiched between two vertebral segments which are much stiffer than the IVD and can be treated as rigid *** adopting any assumptions regarding prescribed displacements or stresses,we obtained the stress and displacement fields within the composite layer when a certain compressive stain is applied via an asymptotic *** asymptotic approach is very simple and accurate enough for prediction of the bugling profile of the *** also performed finite-element modeling (FEM) to validate our solutions;the predicted stress and displacement fields inside the composite are in good agreement with the FEM results.

An isothermal operation is implemented by employing a thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) for simulating the thermal decomposition behavior of 58μm pine sawdust in air *** independent parallel reaction model is adopted in this study to describe the thermal decomposition *** Weibull distribution function is used to record and analyze the weight loss during isothermal decomposition at different temperatures(500,600,700,and 800°C).The total weight loss of the pine sawdust is assumed as a linear combination of individual weight loss from three components,including the char and two volatile *** plot of the thermal decomposition rate curve leads to kinetic parameters such as the reaction rate constants and the reaction *** results show that the Weibull distribution function successfully represents decomposition curves of three components,and fits the experimental data very ***,this study provides a simple way to evaluate the decomposition rate of biomass combustion in a real combustor.

Introduction: Adolescence is a period of transition to adulthood, including for HIV-infected adolescents (HIA), when sexual problems emerge. Few studies have been carried out on the sexuality of HIA. This study aimed to assess the sexual behavior of HIV-infected adolescents in Cameroon. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted in three hospitals in the cities of Yaoundé and Douala, from November 2019 to June 2020. All HIA aged 13 to 19 years followed in the study who knew their HIV status were included in the study after obtaining their assent and their parent’s consent. Socio-demographic and clinical characteristics were collected, as well as sexual practices and the determinants of their sexual activity. A multivariate analysis was performed to explore the relationship between the different variables studied and the sexual activity of these adolescents. Results: Of 204 HIA enrolled in the study, 64 (31.7%) were sexually active, the mean age at first sexual intercourse was 15.6 ± 2.8 years and the sex ratio was 0.94. Of the adolescents in the study, 75.7% of girls and 61.2% of boys had regular sexual activity, while 21.3% of girls and 35.4% of boys had multiple sexual relationships in the six months preceding the study. Nearly 16 (25.0%) of the sexually active HIA had more than 2 sexual encounters per month, 6 (9.3%) of these encounters had been paid for and 9 (27.2%) of the girls had already had at least one pregnancy. More than 7 out of 10 HIA (79.6%) had used a condom the last time they had sex. Age less than 18 years [OR = 11.1 (95% CI: 3.1 - 39.4), p = 0.001], lack of remuneration [OR = 9.8 (95% CI: 2.0 - 47.4), p = 0.001] and self-care were significantly associated with sexual activity in HIA, while school attendance was a protective factor. Self-funded HIAs were 21 times more likely to be sexually active [OR = 21.6 (95% CI: 2.3 - 179), p = 0.004]. This study was conducted to assess the toxic effect of hydroethanolic extract combinations of Gnetum africanum Welv. leaves and Gnetum buchholzianum Engl. (Gnetaceae) in experimental rats to test the validity of the treatment of liver disorders related to oxidative stress. The Combinations (m/m) 50-50 for E2 and 75-25 for E3 of ethanol-water extracts from plant leaves at the respective doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg of body weight were used for 32-day toxicity. They were obtained after harvesting leaves, sorting, drying in the air cover for three weeks, and grinding. The resulting powder was doubly macerated with 70% ethanol for 48 hours and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated with the Heidolph-brand rotary rotavapor and each extract obtained was preserved. The administrations were carried out by gavage to wistar, male and non-pregnant female albino rats. In the end, the animals were sacrificed. The serum and organ homogenates were obtained for biochemical, tissue, and histopathological analyses respectively. The analyses revealed insignificant variations at the 5% probability threshold of the weight growth of experimental animals. These variations were found to be statistically significant at the same probability for biochemical and tissue parameters based on the dose of plant extracts and compared to control animals. Histopathological analysis of liver tissue showed leukodate infiltration that indicates extract-induced inflammation of the hepatocytes at the 400 mg/kg dose of body weight in females. However, this infiltration of the cells would have improved the regeneration of hepatocytes justified by the normal rate of transaminases. These results showed that combinations of hydroethanolic extracts of G. africanum and G. buchholzianumare non-toxicand may be potential candidates in the Cameroonian flora medicinal plant database shown in the monitoring of oxidative stress-related diseases.

Semelfactivity in Igbo

This paper examines semelfactivity in the Igbo language. It seeks to highlight semelfactive verbs and other semelfactive sentential elements. The data for the study were obtained through introspection which were confirmed by two native speakers of Igbo and were analysed descriptively. From the study, it was discovered that the semelfactive verbs in Igbo that co-occur with bound verb complements for emphasis are takwu ‘whisper’, lo‘swallow’, nwụ ‘die’ and hụpe ‘glimpse’ whereas kọ ‘scratch’, tabi ‘blink’, ze ‘sneeze’, kụ‘knock’, ti ‘shout’, wuli ‘jump’ (wu ‘jump’. -li ‘upward’ as opposed to wuda ‘jump downwards)’, gba ‘kick’, nyụ ‘fart’ and kwa ‘cough’ that take inherent complement *** research also revealed that na mberede ‘suddenly’ and na ntabi anya ‘in a twinkle of an eye’ are semelfactive adverbials in the Igbo language. Based on the findings, the paper concludes that in Igbo, semelfactivity entails a one-time action and a spontaneous or instantaneous action.

采用示差扫描量热法(DSC)和小角X射线衍射(SAXD)测试技术表征了由聚氧乙烯醚失水山梨糖醇脂肪酸酯、失水山梨糖醇脂肪酸酯、直链脂肪醇和挥发性物质组成的层状液晶体系的相转变特性,测定了水包油和油包水球形洋葱层状液晶lo1和lo2及平面层状液晶Lβ的有序-无序的转变温度与体系组成之间的关系。结果表明,十八醇在稳定液晶相中起重要作用,混合乳化剂与脂肪醇的质量比为1∶1时球形层状液晶最稳定。降低这一比例导致出现平面层状液晶与球形层状液晶共存和游离的十八醇的相。球形层状液晶与平面层状液晶的相转变温度的差别表明了这些相有不同的组成。降低油相的极性会使平面层状相Lβ的相转变温度范围变宽,同时也增加了液晶相的多样性。

采用偏光显微镜观察及测定电导率的方法研究了由聚氧乙烯醚失水山梨醇脂肪酸酯(APS)、失水山梨醇脂肪酸酯(SE)、十八醇、油和水组成体系的相行为。结果表明,体系在乳化剂、助乳化剂和油相含量低时可形成水包油型球形层状液晶乳液lo1相,随着助乳化剂和油的含量增加,体系将形成球形层状lo1(2)与平面层状Lβ的混合相,然后转变成油包水型球形层状液晶乳液lo2。当m(APS)∶m(SE)=4∶1时,体系可形成稳定的水包油型及油包水型球形层状液晶乳液。
