Evaluation of the Practice of Childbirth in Cases of Antecedent Uterine Scarring at the Maternity Ward of the Community Hospital Centre in Bangui

Objective: Pregnancy in a scarred uterus is considered to be high-risk, especially during parturition. Nevertheless, the literature favours vaginal delivery as long as obstetric conditions are favourable. The aim of our study was to contribute to the improvement of delivery management for women with scar uteri at the CHU Communautaire. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional study conducted over an 18-month period from 01 January 2020 to 30 June 2021 on women with scar uterus who came to give birth at the CHU Communautaire maternity unit. The sample was exhaustive;any parturient with a history of scarred uterus of more than one year with a clinically normal pelvis and whose fetus was in cephalic presentation. The following were excluded from the study: pregnant women with a uterine scar of less than one year, fetuses in a non-cephalic vertex presentation, pregnant women with antecedent complicated childbirth at the previous cesarean section, large fetuses informed consent had been obtained from the pregnant women. Anomynia was respected throughout the study. Results: During this period, we recorded 205 parturients with a scar uterus. The incidence of delivery with a scar uterus was 9.5%. Uterine testing was attempted in 85.9% of cases, with a success rate of 75.6%. Factors predictive of a successful uterine test was: maternal age less than 35 years (P = 0.0027), entry into labour at the reference maternity hospital (P Conclusion: Delivery with a scarred uterus is an increasingly frequent occurrence at the Maternity Unit of the CHU Communautaire in Bangui. Uterine testing is the first option if conditions allow, but careful selection of candidates during antenatal care or at the very beginning of labour is necessary for this type of delivery.

Can integrated watershed management reduce soil erosion and improve livelihoods? A study from northern Ethiopia

In vivo Studies on the Roles of Tic55-Related Proteins in Chloroplast Protein Import in Arabidopsis thaliana

The TicS5 （Translocon at the inner envelope membrane of chloroplasts, 55 kDa） protein was identified in pea as a putative regulator, possibly linking chloroplast protein import to the redox state of the photosynthetic machinery. Two Tic55 homologs have been proposed to exist in Arabidopsis： atTic55-11 and AtPTC52 （Protochlorophyllide-dependent Trans- Iocon Component, 52 kDa; has also been called atTic55-1V）. Our phylogenetic analysis shows that attic55-11 is an ortholog of psTic55 from pea （Pisum sativurn）, and that AtPTC52 is a more distant homolog of the two. AtPTC52 was included in this study to rule out possible functional links between the proteins in Arabidopsis. No detectable mutant phenotypes were found in two independent T-DNA knockout mutant plant lines for each Arabidopsis protein, when compared with wild- type： visible appearance, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic performance, and chloroplast protein import, for example, were all normal. Both wild-type and tic55-11 mutant chloroplasts exhibited deficient protein import when treated with diethylpyrocarbonate, indicating that Tic55 is not the sole target of this reagent in relation to protein import. Furthermore, ptc52 mutant chloroplasts were not defective with respect to pPORA import, which was previously reported to involve PTC52 in barley. Thus, we conclude that atTic55-11 and AtPTC52 are not strictly required for functional protein import in Arabidopsis.

Unmet supportive care needs in families of children with chronic health conditions: an Australian cross‑sectional study

Background The aim of this study was to identify similarities and diferences in the unmet supportive care needs(USCN)of families of children with major chronic health conditions(CHCs)using a universal need assessment *** A cross-sectional online survey involving parents of children with congenital heart disease(CHD),type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1D),cancer,and asthma diagnosed within the last 5 years recruited via social media and support ***-four items assessing the USCN across six domains(care needs,physical and social needs,informational needs,support needs,fnancial needs,child-related emotional needs)were responded to on a 4-point Likert scale[no need(1)to high need(4)].Descriptive statistics identifed the level of need,and linear regressions identifed factors associated with higher need domain *** to small numbers,the asthma group was excluded from comparisons across *** One hundred and ninety-four parents completed the survey(CHD:n=97,T1D:n=50,cancer:n=39,and asthma:n=8).Parents of children with cancer were most likely to report at least one USCN(92%),followed by parents of children with T1D(62%).The fve most commonly reported USCN across CHCs were drawn from four domains:child-related emotional,support,care,and *** need items were included in the top fve needs for all conditions.A higher USCN was associated with a greater frequency of hospital visits and the absence of parental *** Using a universal need assessment tool,this is one of the frst studies to characterize USCN in families of children diagnosed with common *** proportions endorsing diferent needs varied across conditions,the most endorsed needs were similar across the illness *** suggests that support programs or services could be shared across diferent CHCs.

Canopy gap size influences niche partitioning of the ground-layer plant community in a northern temperate forest

Geomorphological processes and landforms of glacier forelands in the upper Aktru River basin(Gornyi Altai), Russia: evidence for rapid recent retreat and paraglacial adjustment

The glaciers in the Aktru River basin of Gornyi Altai, Russia currently represent some of the fastest receding glaciers in the world. Formation of the morainic complexes closest to the contemporary glaciers in the Aktru River basin took place during the 17^th-18^th centuries with recession commencing at the end of the 18 th century. Coupled with this glacial retreat, earth surface processes and vegetation succession are responding to shape the glacier forelands. This article presents the first geomorphological maps for the upper reaches of the Aktru River basin and focuses on the geomorphological landforms that occur in the rapidly changing glacier forelands. Geomorphological mapping is difficult in steep mountainous regions and, thus, mapping was completed using satellite imagery, field mapping and observations coupled with highresolution aerial photography obtained from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs). Critical steps of the procedure used to process UAV imagery and difficulties encountered in this mountainous terrain are noted. The acquired spatial data enable the mapping and classification of small-scale transient geomorphological features such as talus, glacial and glaciofluvial landforms. Their dynamics provide insights into supraglacial and subglacial processes of the glaciers of the Aktru River basin and subsequent paraglacial adjustment. The presented highresolution spatial data, which can also be obtained at high temporal resolutions in the future, can act as a reference frame for geomorphologists and ecologists studying the temporal evolution of glacier forelands of the Aktru River basin during paraglacial adjustment and subsequent colonisation and stabilisation by biota.

What Are We Speaking About When We Speak About Gender?Gender as a Continuum

This article shows how,using the figure of the continuum,gender pluralities can be captured in their actually existing diversity and thus be detached from a still powerful and often stereotyping binary *** as a continuum encompasses the four dimensions physical,psychological,social and sexual or:body,feeling,behavior,and *** will be demonstrated that all of these dimensions are not clearly separable within themselves and from each *** the second part of the article,concrete everyday examples and legal debates are discussed from the perspective of the ***,we are free to consider differences and similarities between and within the different gender groups in all their diverse shapes and *** question of what we are speaking about when we are speaking about gender will be answered with a clear“We are speaking about us as individuals and us as a society”.The simple reversion of this correlation will lead to the question:“Do we have to speak about gender when we are speaking about ourselves?”.This question will be answered with a clear“No”,if the normality of plurality and diversity also includes the negation,the absence of gender.
