The interaction between metabolic dysfunction and inflammation is central to the development of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s ***-related conditions like type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease exacerbate this *** lipid accumulation,particularly in the liver,initiates a cascade of inflammatory processes that extend to the brain,influencing critical metabolic regulatory *** and palmitate,key lipid components,along with lipid transporters lipocalin-2 and apolipoprotein E,contribute to neuroinflammation by disrupting blood–brain barrier integrity and promoting *** insulin resistance further exacerbates brain insulin resistance and *** interventions targeting peripheral lipid metabolism and insulin signaling pathways have shown promise in reducing neuroinflammation in animal ***,translating these findings to clinical practice requires further investigation into human *** conclusion,metabolic dysfunction,peripheral inflammation,and insulin resistance are integral to neuroinflammation and *** these complex mechanisms holds potential for identifying novel therapeutic targets and improving outcomes for neurodegenerative diseases.

BACKGROUND: Living donor liver transplantation is a complex surgical operation. Treatment policies and operative techniques evolved in the last two decades. DATA SOURCES: Our center's experience in living donor liver transplantation was reviewed in conjunction with relevant publications in the literature. RESULTS: The surgical techniques and perioperative surgical therapeutics could be modified towards simplicity. Examples include regular inclusion of the middle hepatic vein without compromising the venous outflow of the donor's remnant left liver. This provides excellent venous outflow, which is crucial for a small-for-size graft. Immunosuppression and hepatitis B suppression are steroid free and hepatitis B immunoglobulin free respectively. CONCLUSION: The most practical way to achieve high graft and recipient survival rates with an acceptably low donor risk is through design of a protocol that simplifies the surgery and postoperative management.

Breast cancer cells may disseminate early, before tumor diagnosis. Disseminated tumor cells, or DTCs, reside in the bone marrow, and may persist for years or even decades. Some of these cells may be re-activated to resume aggressive growth, and eventually become overt bone metastases. Recent studies have begun to shed light on this complicated process and revealed multiple steps and intermediate states of colonizing DTCs. However, how cancer-host interactions evolve during this process needs to be further understood. Most of our current knowledge of the bone microenvironment is obtained through studies looking for the hematopoietic stem cell(HSC) niche. Although this long-standing question has not yet been resolved, our search for the HSC niche has resulted in a detailed map of various cell types in the bone marrow. Furthermore, various techniques used to find the HSC niche may also be adapted for finding the cancer cell niche. In this article, we will review the recent progress in both the DTC and HSC areas with a focus on their potential microenvironment niches. We will also discuss how to apply what we have learned from HSC studies to map DTCs in the bone context. We hope to stimulate thoughts and ideas to further elucidate the bone colonization process, and develop potential therapeutic interventions.

Glaucoma and visual pathway degeneration:Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide,which leads to a progressive loss of *** can be classified into two types:primary open-angle glaucoma and primary closed-angle *** open-angle glaucoma can be caused by the blockage of the trabecular meshwork,and this results in elevation of the intraocular pressure(IOP),leading to retinal ganglion cell(RGC)***,many glaucoma patients have normal IOP;this is known as normal-tension ***,excitotoxic damage and oxidative stress can also lead to RGC damage in normal-tension glaucoma(Almasieh et al.,2012).Glaucomatous genes such as TIGR,OPTN,and CYP1B1 have been suggested to contribute to the pathogenesis of ***,some glaucomatous patients may remain asymptomatic in the early,moderate,and late *** type of glaucoma is primary closed-angle *** this clinical condition,a relative pupillary block is contributed by the iris obstructing aqueous *** patients may suffer from corneal swelling,headache,nausea,and blurred vision during the acute phase.

Using first-principles calculations, we studied the interaction of methanol with the Pt（100） surface based on generalized gradient approximation. We found that top sites of Pt（100） surface are the favored adsorptive positions in energy, and methanol molecule interacts with the Pt surface through oxygen atoms. Moreover, we also explored the possible dissociation pathways of methanol on the Pt surface, and suggested that the products of dissociation can be controlled by the external manipulation.

Cancer metastasis to the thyroid is extremely rare. The more commonly reported primary sites for metastasis to the thyroid are the kidney, breast, lung, colon, esophagus, and uterus. Thyroid metastasis from the stomach has only been reported in three cases. Herein, we report a 71-year-old man presenting with bilateral thyroid multinodular lesions. Bilateral near-total thyroidectomy was performed due to airway compression with related symptoms. Wedge resection of a suspicious pulmonary nodule, detected on CT, was performed for diagnosis. Polypoid lesions in the stomach were examined by trans-scopic biopsy. Poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas with the same histological profiles were noted at these three sites. The immunohistochemical staining for thyroglobulin of these specimens was negative. We conclude that a new thyroid mass appearing in a patient with present or prior malignancies should raise the concern of metastatic disease.

In this article,the authors propose a modified version of *** and Liu’s model with a two-stage production *** that the retailer’s order quantity is concerned with the manufacturer’s selling price and the warranty period of *** used cost of the customer is measured under the Taguchi’s quadratic quality loss function and concluded in the retailer’s profit *** quality of the lot for the manufacturer is determined by adopting a two-stage single sampling rectifying inspection *** modified economic manufacturing quantity(EMQ)model is addressed in formulating the manufacturer’s expected *** retailer’s order quantity,manufacturer’s wholesale price,production run length,process mean,and warranty period of product will be jointly determined by maximizing the total expected profit of the supply chain system including the manufacturer and the ***,the quality investment policy is introduced to illustrate the profit improvement for the supply chain system.
