Study of Taiwan Residents children＇s application of noun and relative clauses in their oral responses

Over the past years studies have pointed out that 5 to 6-year-old children are able to use complex sentences in their oral language. Complex sentences may contain different kinds of subordinate or embedded clauses such as noun clauses, adverbial clauses or relative clauses, which again may be respectively divided into smaller units in terms of function and form. It is interesting therefore to investigate how subordinate clauses are applied by 5 to 6-year-old Chinese-speaking children. The present study, which is based on the verbal responses of 10 Taiwan Residents upper-level kindergarteners aged from 5.5 to 6.5 years, aims to investigate specifically how two kinds of subordinate clauses, namely noun and relative clauses, are applied in children＇s speech. Data analysis shows that of the 4 kinds of noun clauses, only object noun clauses are applied by the child-respondents. With their much more complex syntactic constructions, noun clauses, compliment noun clauses and appositive noun clauses do not appear in their oral responses at all. Concerning relative clauses and their derived participle phrases, none of the respondents apply any V＋的＋N construction in their verbal responses. The VO＋的＋N construction is used by 7 respondents, while the S＋的＋N construction is used by 5 respondents.

Although the catabolic pathway of some flavonoids in the human colon has been elucidated,knowledge of related gut microbes and responsible enzymes is still *** this study,a phloretin hydrolase gene(phy)from Flavonifractor plautii(***)was synthesized and heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli BL21(*** BL 21).Phloretin hydrolase(PHY)was purified from cell extracts of recombinant *** BL21,and PHY's molecular weight was about 32 *** purified PHY effectively cleaved phloretin into 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid(HPPA)and phloroglucinol(PG).PHY's kinetic parameters were determined:Km was 2.8×10−3±0.4 mM and Vmax was 411.2±7.1 U/***,PHY's optimal temperature and pH were 50°C and 7.5,respectively,and PHY exhibited 75%activity after 5 h at 50°***,PHY's activity was inhibited in the presence of Ba2+,Cu2+,and Fe2+,while Mg2+slightly elevated PHY's ***,the catalytic model between phloretin and PHY was built using molecular docking,and PHY's conformational changes were further demonstrated through the multispectral *** study is conducive to understanding phloretin metabolism in the colon and adding a valuable source of PHY for food industry application.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene(BOPP)is one of the most commonly used commercial capacitor films,but its upper operating temperature is below 105℃due to the sharply increased electrical conduction loss at high *** this study,growing an inorganic nanoscale coating layer onto the BOPP film's surface is proposed to suppress electrical conduction loss at high temperature,as well as increase its upper operating *** kinds of inorganic coating layers that have different energy band structure and dielectric property are grown onto the both surface of BOPP films,*** effect of inorganic coating layer on the high-temperature energy storage performance has been systematically *** favorable coating layer materials and appropriate thickness enable the BOPP films to have a significant improvement in high-temperature energy storage ***,when the aluminum nitride(AIN)acts as a coating layer,the AIN-BOPP-AIN sandwich-structured films possess a discharged energy density of 1.5 J cm^(-3)with an efficiency of 90%at 125℃,accompanying an outstandingly cyclic *** the discharged energy density and operation temperature are significantly enhanced,indicating that this efficient and facile method provides an important reference to improve the high-temperature energy storage performance of polymer-based dielectric films.

BACKGROUND Giant cell-rich osteosarcoma(GCRO) is a rare histological variant of osteosarcoma. Spinal GCROs are extremely rare, with challenging diagnosis and management. Herein, we present a case of spinal GCRO at T2, which was not diagnosed in initial biopsy but after T2 corpectomy. We detailed the clinical course, management strategy, and outcome after a 4-year *** SUMMARY A 17-year-old female patient presented with back pain followed by ascending paresthesia. Spinal computed tomography(CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) revealed a collapsed T2 vertebra with an enhancing osteolytic mass. CTguided biopsy showed inconclusive morphology. Pathology from T2 corpectomy revealed GCRO. The patient subsequently received neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by salvage operation of T2 costotransversectomy with grossly-total resection adjuvant chemoradiation. Upon treatment completion, she had complete GCRO remission. The 4-year follow-up spinal MRI showed no tumor *** Spinal GCRO poses unique challenges in obtaining sufficient tissue diagnosis and complete surgical removal. However, long-term local control of spinal GCRO is possible following complete resection and adjuvant chemoradiation.

Climate change has altered locally singletype disasters to large-scale compound disasters because of increasing intensity and frequency of extreme rainfall *** compound disasters can combine small-scale floods,debris flows,shallow landslides,deep-seated landslides,and landslide lakes into a large-scale single disaster *** simulation models and evaluation tools are available for single-type disasters,no single model is well developed for compound disasters due to the difficulty of handling the interrelationship between two successive single-type *** study proposes a structure for linking available single-type simulation models to evaluate compound disasters and provides a useful tool of decision making for warning and planning of disaster reduction.

OBJECTIVE The emerging role of chronic inflammation is the major degenerative diseases of modern society such as periodontitis,atherosclerosis,rheumatoid arthritis,Parkinson′s disease and even *** components were isolated from Derris laxiflora Benth.,In this study,we found these compounds from Derris laxiflora Benth suppress lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory response in murine macrophage(RAW 264.7)*** RAW 264.7cells were cultured in DMEM media supplemented with 10%(V/V)heated-inactivated FBS,penicillin 100U·mL-1 and streptomycin 100μg·*** cells were incubated at 37℃in a humidified atmosphere of 5%CO2in ***264.7cells were seeded in a 24-well plate at a density of 2×105 mL-1 and then incubated with or without LPS(100ng·mL-1)in the absence or presence of compounds for 24 *** of these isolates on NO production were measured indirectly by analysis of nitrite levels using the Griess *** was used as a positive *** ight components were isolated from Derris laxiflora Benth.,including three new pterocarpans 7,6′-dihydroxy-3′-methoxypterocarpan(1),derrispisatin(2),derriscoumaronochromone(3)and three new flavonoids cis-3,4′-dihydroxy-5,7-dimethoxyflavan(4),derriflavanone B(5),iso-lupinenol(6)as well as two known ones,lonchocarpol A(7)and lonchocarpol D(8).The structures of these new compounds were determined by analysis of their spectroscopic ***264.7 cells were treated with the compounds from Derris laxiflora Benth for 24 *** them,compounds 5,7 and 8 significantly suppressed the NO production in LPS-treated RAW264.7 cells with IC50 values<10μg·*** In this study,we found that compounds from Derris laxiflora Benth suppresses lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory response in murine Raw264.7 cells.

This paper applies a computable general equilibrium model to investigate the potential economic effects of trade liberalization across the Taiwan Strait. Our simulation results reveal that cross-Strait trade liberalization will have significant positive impacts on external trade, domestic investment and real GDP for the economies in this area in general and in Taiwan in particular. Furthermore, the negative impact from the formation of a free trade arrangement between Taiwan and Chinese Mainland on Hong Kong seems to be rather small. These results suggest that cross-Strait trade liberalization is very likely to bring about a win-win situation for the economies in this area.

Cancer metastasis to the thyroid is extremely rare. The more commonly reported primary sites for metastasis to the thyroid are the kidney, breast, lung, colon, esophagus, and uterus. Thyroid metastasis from the stomach has only been reported in three cases. Herein, we report a 71-year-old man presenting with bilateral thyroid multinodular lesions. Bilateral near-total thyroidectomy was performed due to airway compression with related symptoms. Wedge resection of a suspicious pulmonary nodule, detected on CT, was performed for diagnosis. Polypoid lesions in the stomach were examined by trans-scopic biopsy. Poorly differentiated adenocarcinomas with the same histological profiles were noted at these three sites. The immunohistochemical staining for thyroglobulin of these specimens was negative. We conclude that a new thyroid mass appearing in a patient with present or prior malignancies should raise the concern of metastatic disease.
