Hong Kong has a high concentration of developments on hilly terrain in close proximity to man-made slopes and natural *** of the high seasonal rainfall,these man-made slopes and natural hillsides would pose a risk to the public as manifested by a death toll of 470 people due to landslides since the late *** 1977,the Government of the Hong Kong SAR embarked on a systematic programme,known as the Landslip Preventive measure(LPm)Programme,to retroft substandard man-made *** 1977 to 2010,about 4500 substandard government man-made slopes have been upgraded through engineering *** the period,the Programme had evolved progressively in response to Government’s internal demand for continuous improvement and rising public expectation for slope *** 2010,the Government implemented the Landslip Prevention and mitigation(LPmit)Programme to dovetail with the LPm Programme,with the focus on retroftting the remaining moderate-risk substandard man-made slopes and mitigating systematically the natural terrain landslide risk pursuant to the"react-to-known"hazard *** paper presents the evolution of the LPm and LPmit Programmes as well as the insight on landslide prevention and mitigation through engineering works.

Spermatogenesis is a tightly regulated process of development for the generation of mature spermatozoa. mammalian spermatogenesis occurs in the convoluted seminiferous tubules of the testes, where spermatogenic stem cells （SSCs） reside on sustentacular Sertoli cells of somatic origin, forming a germinal epithelial structure. Spermato genesis is accomplished in a complicated, timely controlled differentiation of SSCs into premeiotic primary spermatocytes, followed by formation of postmeiotic round spermatids and their subsequent maturation into spermatozoa.

Benzo[a]pyrene(BaP),a ubiquitous pollutant,raises environmental health concerns due to induction of bone toxicity in the unexposed *** of F0 ancestor medaka(Oryzias latipes)to 1μg/L BaP for 21 days causes reduced vertebral bone thickness in the unexposed F3 male *** reveal the inherited modifications,osteoblast(OB)abundance and molecular signaling pathways of transgenerational BaP-induced bone thinning were *** analysis showed a reduction in OB *** of the miRNA and mRNA transcriptomes revealed the dysregulation of Wnt signaling(frzb/ola-miR-1–3p,sfrp5/ola-miR-96–5p/miR-455–5p)and bone morphogenetic protein(Bmp)signaling(bmp3/ola-miR-96–5p/miR-181b-5p/miR-199a-5p/miR-205–5p/miR-455–5p).Both pathways are major indicators of impaired bone formation,while the altered Rank signaling in osteoclasts(c-fos/miR-205–5p)suggests a potentially augmented bone ***,a typical BaP-responsive pathway,the Nrf2-mediated oxidative stress response(gst/ola-miR-181b-5p/miR-199a-5p/miR-205),was also ***,mRNA levels of epigenetic modification enzymes(e.g.,hdac6,hdac7,kdm5b)were found *** findings indicated that epigenetic factors(e.g.,miRNAs,histone modifications)may directly regulate the expression of genes associated with transgenerational BaP bone toxicity and warrants further *** identified candidate genes and miRNAs may serve as potential biomarkers for BaP-induced bone disease and as indicators of historic exposures in wild fish for conservation purposes.

Substantial population growth in the past decades around Victoria Harbour re- sulted in water quality deterioration from the discharge of preliminary treated sewage into the *** Harbour Area Treatment Scheme(HATS)is a centralised sewage collection and treatment scheme for areas on both sides of Victoria *** of this world-class sewage treatment infrastructure is being carried out in several stages,viz Stage 1,Stage 2A and Stage *** 1 of HATS involved the construction of a 23.6 km-long system of tunnels deep underground,carrying currently 1.4 million tonnes of sewage each day from Kowloon and the northeastern part of Hong Kong Island to a sewage treatment plant at Stonecutters Island for chemically enhanced primary treatment before *** 1 of HATS has brought about no- ticeable water quality improvement to the Victoria Harbour since its full commissioning in 2001 by treating 75% of the harbour sewage,but more needs to be done to restore the Harbour to a healthier *** 2A of HATS will upgrade the preliminary treatment works around the northern and southwestern shore of Hong Kong Island and construct a 21 km-long deep tunnel system to convey the sewage from Hong Kong Island to Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works(SCISTW),where the existing chemical treatment facilities will be expanded and new disinfection facilities *** planning and design for this phase is well underway with the aim of commissioning Stage 2A in *** 2B of HATS will involve the provision of bio- logical treatment at the SCISTW to further improve the effluent *** timing of the Stage 2B implementation will be decided upon a review of water quality trends,population increases and sewage flow build up to be undertaken in *** harbour water quality will benefit society in many different ways,including for example,enhanced recreational opportuni- ties,scenic quality,aesthetics,public health and safety as well as ecol

Introduction The application of large language models such as generative pre-trained transformers(GPTs)has been promising in medical education,and its performance has been tested for different medical *** study aims to assess the performance of GPTs in responding to a set of sample questions of short-answer management problems(SAmPs)from the certification exam of the College of Family Physicians of Canada(CFPC).method Between August 8th and 25th,2023,we used GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 in five rounds to answer a sample of 77 SAmPs questions from the CFPC *** independent certified family physician reviewers scored AI-generated responses twice:first,according to the CFPC answer key(ie,CFPC score),and second,based on their knowledge and other references(ie,Reviews’score).An ordinal logistic generalised estimating equations(GEE)model was applied to analyse repeated measures across the five *** According to the CFPC answer key,607(73.6%)lines of answers by GPT-3.5 and 691(81%)by GPT-4 were deemed ***’s scoring suggested that about 84%of the lines of answers provided by GPT-3.5 and 93%of GPT-4 were *** GEE analysis confirmed that over five rounds,the likelihood of achieving a higher CFPC Score Percentage for GPT-4 was 2.31 times more than GPT-3.5(OR:2.31;95%CI:1.53 to 3.47;pmilarly,the Reviewers’Score percentage for responses provided by GPT-4 over 5 rounds were 2.23 times more likely to exceed those of GPT-3.5(OR:2.23;95%CI:1.22 to 4.06;p=0.009).Running the GPTs after a one week interval,regeneration of the prompt or using or not using the prompt did not significantly change the CFPC score *** In our study,we used GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 to answer complex,open-ended sample questions of the CFPC exam and showed that more than 70%of the answers were accurate,and GPT-4 outperformed GPT-3.5 in responding to the *** language models such as GPTs seem promising for assisting candidates of the CFPC exam by pr

认同整合(Identity integration)是认同研究领域的一个新的研究思路。认同整合是一个特质性的概念,用于测量同时具有两(多)重不同身份认同者如何看待他们的两(多)重身份之间的关系的个体差异。个体可能认为他们所拥有的两(多)重身份是和谐统一的,也可能认为这两(多)种身份之间是相互对立,相互分离,或者彼此冲突的。认同整合的概念已经被用于文化、种族和性别等领域的研究,并被证明对文化适应、心理健康和创造性等有积极作用。但作为新概念,需要深入探讨其作用机制及对其他相关领域的贡献,尤其是探讨如何在中国背景下应用该概念来解决实际问题。

以跨文化(中国人)个性测量表的成人版(CPAI-2)为基础,综合运用文化共通性(etic)和文化特殊性(emic)方法发展了相应的青少年版个性测量工具——CPAI-A,并在香港青少年人群中进行了标准化研究。结果表明CPAI-A有良好的信度和清晰的因素结构。文章从理论和实证两方面深入分析了学界日益关注的从青少年到成人人格的发展性与稳定性问题,以及人格特质评估的文化共通性与特殊性问题。最后建议CPAI-A量表发展的历程可能是融合本土化与跨文化人格评估发展过程中一条非常值得借鉴的思路。
