BACKGROUND Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma(PC-ALCL)poses significant diagnostic difficulties due to its similarity in the appearance of skin lesions with chronic inflammatory disorders and other dermatological *** study aims to investigate these challenges by conducting a comprehensive analysis of a case presenting with PC-ALCL,emphasizing the necessity of accurate differentiation for appropriate *** sUMMARY An 89-year-old female patient with diabetes and hypertension presented with arm and abdominal ulcerated mass *** procedures included skin biopsies,histopathological assessments,and immunohistochemistry,complemented by advanced imaging techniques to confirm the *** patient’s lesions were determined as PC-ALCL,characterized by necrosis,chronic inflammation,and a distinct immunophenotypic profile,including CD30,CD3,CD4,and EBER,CD56,MUM-1,Ki 67-positive in>80%of tumor cells,CD10,but negative for anaplastic lymphoma kinase,CD5,CD20,PAX-5,Bcl-2,Bcl-6,CD8,and *** w.s.not reported at the 6-month *** Accurate PC-ALCL differentiation from similar conditions is crucial for effective management and requires a multidisciplinary approach.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an established endoscopic technique for ablating Barrett's esophagus with high-grade dysplasia or early-stage intraepithelial neoplasia. The most common clinically significant adverse effect of PDT is esophageal stricture formation. The strictures are usually superficial and might be dilated effectively with standard endoscopic accessories, such as endoscope balloon or savary dilators. However, multiple dilations might be required to achieve stricture resolution in some cases. we report the case of stricture that recurred after dilation with a bougie, which w.s.completely relieved by a self-expandable metal stent.

Interleukin-18 （IL-18） w.s.discovered as an interferon-y-inducing factor and had a critical role in inflammatory and immune respouse. It stimulates natural killer （NK） and T cells and enhances Thl immune response. These activated immune cells eliminate cancer cells and virus-infected cells effectively. However, IL-18 has also been found to promote tumor progression. Higher expression or secretion level of IL-18 is detected in various cancer cells in comparison with normal control, and IL-18 is able to induce angiogenesis, migration/metastasis, proliferation and immune escape. These dual effects and the mechanism of IL-18 need to be investigated further as it relates to cancer.

In Korea, damaging typhoons related to climate change have increased steadily since the 1990s. Red pine （Pinus densiflora） forests in Gwangneung Forest were greatly disturbed by typhoon Kompasu in 2010. A survey w.s.carried out to clarify differences in ground beetle （Coleoptera： Carabidae） communities between forest gaps and undamaged forests. Ground beetles were sampled using pitfall traps from early May to late October 2011. Vegetation changes, litter layer, organic matter layer, and soil conditions were also measured. A total of 1035 ground beetles of 32 species were collected. Contrary to our expectation, species richness, abundance, and community structure of the ground beetles in forest gaps were similar to those in undamaged forests. species richness and abundance of habitat type were also similar. However, species diversity and estimated species richness in forest gaps were significantly higher than in undamaged forests. These findings suggest that forest gaps formed by a typhoon did not lead to great change in ground beetle communities.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is a chronic, relapsing intestinal inflammatory disorder with unidentified causes. Both environmental factors and genetic aspects are believed to be crucial to the pathogenesis of IBD. The incidence and prevalence of IBD have recently been increasing throughout Asia, presumably secondary to environmental changes. This increasing trend in IBD epidemiology necessitates specific health care planning and education in Asia. To this end, we must gain a precise understanding of the distinctive clinical and therapeutic characteristics of Asian patients with IBD. The phenotypes of IBD reportedly differ considerably between Asians and Caucasians. Thus, use of the same management strategies for these different populations may not be appropriate. Moreover, investigation of the Asian-specific clinical aspects of IBD offers the possibility of identifying causative factors in the pathogenesis of IBD in this geographical area. Accordingly, this review.s.mmarizes current knowledge of the phenotypic manifestations and management practices of patients with IBD, with a special focus on a comparisonof Eastern and w.s.ern perspectives.

Neotectonic transpressional intraplate deformation in eastern Eurasia: Insights from active fault systems in the southeastern Korean Peninsula

Transpression occurs in response to oblique convergence across a deformation zone in intraplate regions and plate *** Korean Peninsula is located at an intraplate region of the eastern Eurasian Plate and has been deformed under the ENE–wsw maximum horizontal compression since the late *** this study,we analyzed short-term instrumental seismic(focal mechanism)and long-term paleoseis-mic(Quaternary fault outcrop)data to decipher the neotectonic crustal deformation pattern in the south-eastern Korean ***(paleo-)seismic data acquired from an NNE–ssw trending deformation zone between the Yangsan and Ulleung fault zones indicate spatial partitioning of crustal deformation by NNw.s.E to NNE–ssw.s.riking reverse faults and NNE–ssw.s.riking strike-slip faults,supporting a strike-slip partitioned transpression *** instantaneous and finite neotectonic strains,estimated from the focal mechanism and Quaternary outcrop data,respectively,show discrepan-cies in their axes,which can be attributed to the switching between extensional and intermediate axes of finite strain during the accumulation of wrench-dominated ***,some major faults,including the Yangsan and Ulsan fault zones,are relatively misoriented to slip under the current stress condition but,paradoxically,have more(paleo-)seismic records indicating their role in accommodating the neotectonic transpressional *** propose that fluids,heat flow,and lithospheric structure are potential factors affecting the reactivation of the relatively misoriented major *** findings provide insights into the accommodation pattern of strain associated with the neotectonic crustal extrusion in an intraplate region of the eastern Eurasian Plate in response to the collision of the Indian Plate and the sub-duction of the Pacific/Philippine sea Plates.

Reliably identifying synthesizable inorganic crystalline materials is an unsolved challenge required for realizing autonomous materials *** this work,we develop a deep learning synthesizability model(synthNN)that leverages the entire space of synthesized inorganic chemical *** reformulating material discovery as a synthesizability classification task,synthNN identifies synthesizable materials with 7×higher precision than with DFT-calculated formation *** a head-to-head material discovery comparison against 20 expert material scientists,synthNN outperforms all experts,achieves 1.5×higher precision and completes the task five orders of magnitude faster than the best human ***,without any prior chemical knowledge,our experiments indicate that synthNN learns the chemical principles of charge-balancing,chemical family relationships and ionicity,and utilizes these principles to generate synthesizability *** development of synthNN will allow for synthesizability constraints to be seamlessly integrated into computational material screening workflows to increase their reliability for identifying synthetically accessible materials.

The goal of our study w.s.to evaluate the impact of the interval between prostate biopsy and magnetic resonance imaging （MRI） on the accuracy of simple tumor localization, which is essential information that enables nerve-sparing surgery. we also sought to determine the optimal timing of a post-biopsy MRI, A total of 184 patients who had undergone MRI before radical prostatectomy at an institution without a predetermined schedule for MRI after a prostate biopsy were enrolled. The mean interval from the biopsy to the MRI w.s.30.8 ± 18.6days. The accuracy of the MRI for simplified tumor location （right, left, bilateral and none） w.s.44.6%. In the group with discordant pathologic and MRI findings, the most common reason recorded w.s.＇MRI predicted a unilateral lesion, but pathology revealed bilateral lesions＇（58.3%）, followed by ＇MRI predicted no lesion, but pathology revealed the presence of a lesion＇（32.0%）. Multivariable analysis showed that the discordant group had a shorter interval （25.0 ± 14.3 vs 38.1 ± 20.6days, P 〈 0.01） preceding the MRI and a higher rate of hemorrhage as observed by MRI （80.4% vs 54.8%, P 〈 0.01） in comparison with the accordant group. In receiver operating characteristics analysis, the area under the curve of the MRI interval in accurate prediction of the tumor location w.s.0.707 （P 〈 0.001）. At the MRI interval＇s cutoff of 28.5days, the sensitivity w.s.73.2% and the specificity w.s.63.7%. when the MRI w.s.performed within 28days, the accumulated accuracy w.s.only 26.1% （23/88）; however, when it w.s.performed after 28days, the reversely accumulated accuracy w.s.61.5% （59/96）. These data support a waiting period of at least 4weeks after a biopsy before performing an MRI for the purposes of surgical refinement.
