Layered manganese phosphorus trisulfides for high-performance lithium-ion batteries and the storage mechanism

Although advanced anode materials for the lithium-ion battery have been investigated for decades,a reliable,high-capacity,and durable material that can enable a fast charge remains ***,we report that a metal phosphorous trichalcogenide of MnPS_(3)(manganese phosphorus trisulfide),endowed with a unique and layered van der Waals structure,is highly beneficial for the fast insertion/extraction of alkali metal ions and can facilitate changes in the buffer volume during cycles with robust structural *** few-layered MnPS_(3)anodes displayed the desirable specific capacity and excellent rate chargeability owing to their good electronic and ionic *** assembled as a half-cell lithium-ion battery,a high reversible capacity of 380 mA h g^(−1)was maintained by the MnPS_(3)after 3000 cycles at a high current density of 4 A g^(−1),with a capacity retention of close to or above 100%.In full-cell testing,a reversible capacity of 450 mA h g^(−1)after 200 cycles was maintained as *** results of in-situ TEM revealed that MnPS_(3)nanoflakes maintained a high structural integrity without exhibiting any pulverization after undergoing large volumetric expansion for the insertion of a large number of lithium *** kinetics of lithium-ion diffusion,stable structure,and high pseudocapacitance contributed to their comprehensive performance,for example,a high specific capacity,rapid charge-discharge,and long ***_(3)is thus an efficient anode for the next generation of batteries with a fast charge/discharge capability.

The quantitative relationship between microstructure and properties of austenitic Fe-28Mn-xAl-1C（x=10 and 12 wt.%）low-density steels was evaluated using Rietveld method to refine X-ray diffraction（XRD）*** results showed that a typical three-phase austenitic steel was obtained in the forged Mn28Al10（***-28Mn-10Al-1C）steel,which included about 92.85 wt.% γ-Fe（Mn,Al,C）（austenite）,5.28 wt.%（Fe,Mn）_3AlC_（0.5）（κ-carbide）,and 1.87 wt.% α-Fe（Al,Mn）（ferrite）.For the forged Mn28Al12（***-28Mn-12Al-1C）steel,nevertheless,only about 76.64 wt.% austenite,9.63 wt.%κ-carbide,9.14 wt.%ferrite and 4.59 wt.% Fe_3Al（DO_3）could be ***κ-carbide and DO_3 were mainly distributed in austenite grains and at the interface between austenite and ferrite,*** forged Mn28Al10 steel had a better combination of strength,ductility and specific strength as compared with the forged Mn28Al12 *** ductility of the forged Mn28Al12 steel was far lower than that of the forged Mn28Al10 *** oxidation kinetics of Mn28Al10 steel oxidized at 1323 Kfor 5-25 h had two-stage linear rate laws,and the oxidation rate of the second stage was faster than that of the first *** the oxidation kinetics of Mn28Al12 steel under this condition also had two-stage linear rate laws,the oxidation rate of the second stage was slower than that of the first *** the oxidation temperature increased to 1373K,the oxidation kinetics of the two steels at 5-25 hhad only onestage linear rate law,and the oxidation rates of the two steels were far faster than those at 1323K for5-25 *** oxidation resistance of Mn28Al12 steel was much better than that of Mn28Al10 *** layer formed between the austenite matrix and the oxidation layer of the two Fe-Mn-Al-C steels oxidized at high temperature.

Identification and virulence test of a new pathogen that causes verticillium striping on rapeseed in northwestern China

Five stems of rapeseed with abundant black microsclerotia were collected from Huangyuan County of Qinghai Province,China,and fungal isolates were obtained from the *** were identified based on morphology,molecular features and specific PCR *** results showed that the 10 fungal isolates belonged to Verticillium longisporum lineage A1/*** of the 10 isolates(HW7-1)was tested for virulence on three species of rapeseed,including *** Zhongshuang 9,*** Qingyou 9 and *** Tayou 2 by conidia inoculation of HW7-1 on roots of young *** seedlings were inoculated with *** conidia or water *** seedlings of these treatments were transplanted in culture mix and incubated in a growth chamber(20℃).Results suggested that the control seedlings of three cultivars appeared quite healthy,while the seedlings inoculated with HW7-1 turned yellowing leaves,seedling stunting or even death after 22 days *** was re-isolated from he yellow leaves,thus fulfilling Koch's ***,compared to the control treatments,inoculation with HW7-1 caused flowering delay and seed yield reduction on Tayou 2 with production of microsclerotia on the *** our knowledge,this is the first report of *** lineage A1/D3 on rapeseed in northwestern China.

Effect ofαphase on fatigue crack growth of Ti-6242 alloy

Fatigue crack growth as a function ofαphase volume fraction in Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo（Ti-6242）alloy was investigated using fatigue testing,optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron ***α＋βannealing treatments with different solid solution temperatures and cooling rates were conducted in order to tailor microstructure with differentαphase features in the Ti-6242 alloy,and fatigue crack growth mechanism was discussed after detailed microstructure *** results showed that fatigue crack growth rate of Ti-6242 alloy decreased with the decrease in volume fraction of the primaryαphase（αp）.Samples with a large-sizedαgrain microstructure treated at high solid solution temperature and slow cooling rate have lower fatigue crack growth *** appearance of secondaryαphase（αs）with the increase of solid solution temperature led to crack ***,a fatigue crack growth transition phenomenon was observed in the Paris regime of Ti-6242 alloy with 29.8% αp（typical bi-modal microstructure）and large-sizedαgrain microstructure,owing to the change of fatigue crack growth mechanism.

L-glutamic acid(LA)is a bio-based,non-toxic,environmentally friendly material derived from *** present study reports the application of Passerini three-component polymerization(P-3CP)for the straightforward preparation of LA-based light-responsive polyesters(PLTDs)under mild *** with molar masses up to 8500 g/mol and high yields exceeding 90%are *** chemical structures and light-responsive self-immolative behavior of PLTDs are comprehensively characterized by employing ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)spectroscopy,size exclusion chromatography(SEC),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy,and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry(LC-MS).Meanwhile,monodisperse PLTD-based doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles(PLTD-DOX-NP)(size=193 nm,PDI=0.018)are formulated by nanoprecipitation *** light-induced depolymerization,the PLTD-DOX-NP undergoes rapid decomposition,resulting in a burst release of 80%cargo within 13 ***,according to biological toxicity tests,the PLTD-NP possesses adequate biosafety,both before and after ***,the incorporation of P-3CP with biorenewable LA-based monomer adheres to the principles of green chemistry,significantly simplifying the synthetic pathway of light-responsive polymers.

Molecular mechanics and dynamics simulation of hydrogen diffusion in aluminum melt

The main impurities in aluminum melt are hydrogen and Al_2O_3,which can deteriorate melt quality and materials ***,the diffusion process of H atoms in aluminum melt and the interactions among Al atoms,Al_2O_3 and hydrogen have been studied *** mechanics and dynamics simulations are employed to study the diffusion behaviors of different types of hydrogen,such as free H atoms,H atoms in H_2 and H^+ions in H_2O using COMPASS force ***,force field types h,h1h and h1o are used to describe different types of hydrogen which are labeled as H_h,H_(h1h) and H_(h1o).The results show that the adsorption areas are maximum for H_(h1o),followed by H_(h1h) and H_*** diffusion ability of H_(h1o) is the strongest whereas H_h is hard to diffuse in aluminum melt because of the differences in radius and potential well depth of various types of ***_2O_3 cluster makes the Al atoms array disordered,creating the energy conditions for hydrogen diffusion in aluminum ***_2O_3 improves the diffusion of H_h and H_(h1o),and constrains H_(h1h) which accumulates around it and forms gas porosities in aluminum.H_(h1o) is the most dispersive in aluminum melt,moreover,the distance of Al-H_(h1o) is shorter than that of Al-H_(h1h),both of which are detrimental to the removal of H_(h1o).The simulation results indicate that the gas porosities can be eliminated by the removal of Al_2O_3 inclusions,and the dispersive hydrogen can be removed by adsorption function of gas bubbles or molten fluxes.

Pseudo-bulk heterojunction(BHJ)fabricated by sequential casting of donor and acceptor layers has been recently demonstrated as a superior structure to prepare organic solar cells(OSCs)with enhanced efficiency compared to the conventional BHJ OSCs cast from a common solution of donors and ***,molecular diffusion and aggregation within the pseudo-BHJ layer bring great challenges to fully realize the advantage of pseudo-BHJ ***,a solution-incubated pre-aggregation strategy is employed to tune the nanoscale aggregates of non-fullerene acceptor(NFA)BTP-e C11 and N3 to substantially enhance device power-conversion efficiency(PCE).NFA pre-aggregates are incubated in solutions via aging or adding antisolvent,and then sequentially cast onto D18 fibrillar network,which then penetrate to form a pseudo-BHJ structure with appropriate domain sizes to ensure superior charge *** the conventional pseudo-BHJ OSCs obtain inferior PCEs below 17%compared with normal BHJ OSCs,NFA pre-aggregates help to achieve remarkable PCEs of 17.7%and 17.5%for D18/BTP-e C11 and D18/N3 pseudo-BHJ *** work demonstrates that the solution-incubated nanoscale pre-aggregation is an efficient approach to regulate molecular diffusion and aggregation to guarantee high performance pseudo-BHJ OSCs.

High birefringence, low loss, and flattened dispersion photonic crystal fiber for terahertz application

A type of photonic crystal fiber based on Kagome lattice cladding and slot air holes in a rectangular core is investigated. Full vector finite element method is used to evaluate the modal and propagation properties of the designed *** birefringence of 0.089 and low effective material loss of 0.055 cm^-1 are obtained at 1 THz. The y-polarized fundamental mode of the designed fiber shows a flattened and near-zero dispersion of 0±0.45 ps · THz^-1· cm^-1 within a broad frequency range(0.5 THz–1.5 THz). Our results provide the theory basis for applications of the designed fiber in terahertz polarization maintaining systems.

Plasma simulation to analyze velocity distribution characteristics of pseudospark-sourced electron beam

Pseudospark-sourced electron beam is a promising candidate for driving vacuum electronic devices to generate millimeter wave and terahertz wave radiation as it has a very high combined beam current density. However, the inherent velocity spread of the beam, which is difficult to measure in experiment, has a great influence on the operating frequency and efficiency of the vacuum electronic device. In this paper, the velocity distribution characteristics of the electron beam produced by a single-gap hollow cathode electron gun are numerically studied and a three-dimensional kinetic plasma simulation model of a single-gap hollow cathode electron gun is built by using particle in cell and Monte Carlo collision methods in Vorpal. Based on the simulation model, the time-dependent evolution of the plasma formation inside the hollow cathode and electron beam generation process are observed. It is demonstrated that the pseudospark-sourced electron beam has a relatively large velocity spread. The time-dependent velocity distribution of the beam is analyzed, and the dependence of the beam velocity distribution under various operating conditions such as anode–cathode potential difference, gas pressure, and cathode aperture size are also studied.

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a life-threatening *** epidemic trends in different countries vary considerably due to different policy-making and resources *** calculated basic reproduction number(R0)and the time-varying estimate of the effective reproductive number(Rt)of COVID-19 by using the maximum likelihood method and the sequential Bayesian method,*** and North American countries possessed higher (R0)and unsteady Rt fluctuations,whereas some heavily affected Asian countries showed relatively low (R0)and declining Rt *** numbers of patients in Africa and Latin America are still low,but the potential risk of huge outbreaks cannot be *** scenarios were then simulated,generating distinct outcomes by using SEIR(susceptible,exposed,infectious,and removed)***,evidence-based prompt responses yield lower transmission rate followed by decreasing ***,implementation of effective control policies at a relatively late stage,in spite of huge casualties at early phase,can still achieve containment and ***,wisely taking advantage of the time-window for developing countries in Africa and Latin America to adopt adequate measures can save more people’s *** mathematical modeling provides evidence for international communities to develop sound design of containment and mitigation policies for COVID-19.
