Electrogastrography associated with symptomatic changes after prokinetic drug treatment for functional dyspepsia

AIM:To evaluate the effect of prokinetic drugs on electrogastrography(EGG) parameters according to symptomatic changes in patients with functional dyspepsia(FD).METHODS:Seventy-four patients with FD were prospectively enrolled in this study between December 2006 and December *** surveyed the patients using a questionnaire on dyspeptic symptoms before and after an 8-wk course of prokinetic drug *** also measured cutaneous pre-prandial and postprandial EGG recordings including percentage of gastric waves(normogastria,bradygastria,tachygastria),dominant frequency(DF),dominant power(DP),dominant frequency instability coefficient(DFIC),dominant power instability coefficient(DPIC),and the ratio of post-prandial to fasting in DP before and after the 8-wk course of prokinetic drug ***:Fifty-two patients(70%) achieved symptomatic improvement after prokinetic drug *** who had normal gastric slow waves showed symptom improvement group after *** DF showed a downward trend in the symptom improvement group,especially in the itopride ***-prandial DP was increased regardless of symptom improvement,especially in the itopride group and mosapride ***-prandial DFIC and DPIC in the symptom improvement group were significantly increased after the *** EGG power ratio was increased after treatment in the symptom improvement group(0.50 ± 0.70 vs 0.93 ± 1.77,P = 0.002),especially in the itopride and levosulpiride ***:Prokinetics could improve the symptoms of FD by regulating gastric myoelectrical activity,and EGG could be a useful tool in evaluating the effects of various prokinetics.

Composition ship collision risk based on fuzzy theory

Despite of modern navigation devices, there are problems in navigation of vessels in waterways due to the geographical structures, disturbances in water, dynamic nature, and heavily environmental influenced sea traffic. Even though all vessels are equipped with modern navigation devices, the accidents are reported caused by various reasons and mainly by human factor according to investigation. We propose an effective and efficient composition collision risk calculation method for finding the collision probability and avoiding the collision between ships in possible collision situations. The proposed composition collision risk calculation method at ship's position using combination of fuzzy and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation methods. The algorithm is straightforward to implement and is shown to be effective in automatic ship handling for ships involved in complex navigation situations. Experiments are carried out with indigenous data and the results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Formation and Characterization of Plasma Sprayed Photocatalytic TiO2- ZnO Nano- Compounded Coatings

Two kinds of TiO2-ZnO nano-compounded powders aggregated by spray-drying process and evaporation method were used to deposit photocatalytic coatings by atmospheric plasma spraying technique. The phase compositions, morphologies of the agglomerated TiO2-ZnO powders and the as-sprayed coating were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) respectively. Furthermore, roughness measurements were carried out on their surfaces of the plasma sprayed TiO2-ZnO nano-comPounded coatings. Compared with the TiO2ZnO nano-compounded coating deposited from the spray-dried powder, it was found that the TiO2-ZnO nano-compounded coating deposited from the evaporated powder possesses higher anatase phase. It is ascribed to the existing of partially melted or non-melted microstructure in the TiO2-ZnO coating deposited from the evaporated powder. The partially-meltedor non-melted microstructure was retained from the starting agglomerated powder. This microstructure is beneficial to improve the photocatalytic properties of plasma sprayed TiO2-ZnO nano-compounded coatings.

AIM: To compare the outcomes of pediatric patients weighing less than or more than 10 kg who underwent liver ***: Data for 196 pediatric patients who underwent living donor liver transplantation between June 1994 and February 2011 were reviewed *** information for each patient was anonymized and de-identified before analysis. The data included information regarding the pre-transplant conditions, intraoperative fluid replacement and outcomes for each patient. The 196 patients were divided into two groups: those with body weights of less than 10 kg were included in group 1(G1; n =101), while those with body weights of more than 10 kg were included in group 2(G2; n = 95). For each group, the patients' ages, body weights, heights,pediatric end stage liver disease scores, anesthesia times, and warm and cold ischemic times were analyzed. In addition, between-group comparisons were also made. Mann-Whitney U tests were used to compare all the variables except for complications and survival rates, which were analyzed using χ 2 tests and Kaplan-Meier tests, ***: The general medical conditions of the G1patients were worse than those of the G2 patients, as shown by the higher pediatric end stage liver disease scores and poorer Z-scores. In addition, the preoperative Hb and serum albumin levels were all lower for the G1 patients than for the G2 patients. The G1 patients also had significantly more intraoperative blood loss than the G2 patients. In addition, the intraoperative fluid requirements for the G1 patients,including leukocyte poor red blood cell transfusions,5% albumin infusions and crystalloid infusions, were significantly higher than those for the G2 patients. The risk of intraoperative portal vein thrombosis was higher for the patients in G1 than for those in G2. However,the one-year survival rates(95.9% and 96.8% for G1 and G2, respectively) and three-year survival rates(94.9% and 94.6% for G1 and G2, respectively)

BACKGROUND Bariatric surgery is an efficient strategy for body weight and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2 DM) management. Abnormal lipid deposition in visceral organs,especially the pancreas and liver, might cause beta-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance. Extracellular matrix(ECM) remodeling allows adipose expansion, and matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) play essential roles in ECM ***-2 and MMP-9 are the substrates of MMP-7. Different studies have reported that MMP-2,-7, and-9 increase in patients with obesity and metabolic syndromes or T2 DM and are considered biomarkers in obesity and hyperglycemia *** prospectively investigate whether MMP-2, MMP-7, and MMP-9 differ after two bariatric surgeries: Gastric bypass(GB) and sleeve gastrectomy(SG).METHODS We performed GB in 23 and SG in 19 obese patients with T2 DM. We measured body weight, waist circumference, body mass index(BMI), and serum concentrations of total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting blood sugar(FBS),hemoglobin A1 c(Hb A1 c), C-peptide, homeostasis model assessments of insulin resistance, and MMP-2, MMP-7, and MMP-9 levels at baseline and at 3, 12, and 24 mo *** Twenty-three patients aged 44.7 ± 9.7 years underwent GB, and 19 patients aged40.1 ± 9.1 years underwent SG. In the GB group, BMI decreased from 30.3 ± 3.4 to24.4 ± 2.4 kg/m2, Hb A1 c decreased from 9.2% ± 1.5% to 6.7% ± 1.4%, and FBS decreased from 171.6 ± 65.0 mg/d L to 117.7 ± 37.5 mg/d L 2 years post-operation(P < 0.001). However, the MMP-2, MMP-7, and MMP-9 levels pre-and post-GB were similar even 2 years post-operation(P = 0.107, 0.258, and 0.466,respectively). The SG group revealed similar results: BMI decreased from 36.2 ±5.1 to 26.9 ± 4.7 kg/m2, Hb A1 c decreased from 7.9% ± 1.7% to 5.8% ± 0.6%, and FBS decreased from 138.3 ± 55.6 mg/d L to 95.1 ± 3.1 mg/d L(P < 0.001). Wolf phase tomography(WPT) of transparent structures using partially coherent illumination

Improved corrosion resistance and thermal stability of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with holmium substitution

The effects of Ho substitution for Nd on the microstructure, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of the Nd-Fe-B magnets were investigated. The（Nd,Ho）-O phase was formed with increasing Ho substitution. The results of potentiodynamic polarization and highly accelerated stress test show improved corrosion resistance with increasing Ho substitution. The optimum mass loss 0.29 mg/cm^2 is ***, the average temperature coefficients for remanence and coercivity in the range of 25-150℃are both closer to zero, indicating improved thermal stability. The mechanisms for the improved corrosion resistance and thermal stability are discussed in relation to the microstructure featuring the（Nd,Ho）-O phase.

Enhancing Direct Electrochemical CO_(2)Electrolysis by Introducing A-Site Deficiency for the Dual-Phase Pr(Ca)Fe(Ni)O_(3-δ)Cathode

High-temperature CO_(2)electrolysis via solid oxide electrolysis cells(CO_(2)-SOECs)has drawn special attention due to the high energy convention efficiency,fast electrode kinetics,and great potential in carbon ***,the development of cathode materials with high catalytic activity and chemical stability for pure CO_(2)electrolysis is still a great *** this work,A-site cation deficient dual-phase material,namely(Pr_(0.4)Ca_(0.6))_(x)Fe_(0.8)Ni_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(PCFN,x=1,0.95,and 0.9),has been designed as the fuel electrode for a pure CO_(2)-SOEC,which presents superior electrochemical *** all these compositions,(Pr_(0.4)Ca_(0.6))_(0.95)Fe_(0.8)Ni_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(PCFN95)exhibited the lowest polarization resistance of 0.458Ωcm^(2)at open-circuit voltage and 800℃.The application of PCFN95 as the cathode in a single cell yields an impressive electrolysis current density of 1.76 A cm^(-2)at 1.5 V and 800℃,which is 76%higher than that of single cells with stoichiometric Pr_(0.4)Ca_(0.6)Fe_(0.8)Ni_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(PCFN100)*** effects of A-site deficiency on materials'phase structure and physicochemical properties are also systematically *** an enhancement in electrochemical performance is attributed to the promotion of effective CO_(2)adsorption,as well as the improved electrode kinetics resulting from the A-site deficiency.

Encapsulation of MnS Nanocrystals into N,S-Co-doped Carbon as Anode Material for Full Cell Sodium-Ion Capacitors

Sodium-ion capacitors(SICs)have received increasing interest for grid stationary energy storage application due to their affordability,high power,and energy *** major challenge for SICs is to overcome the kinetics imbalance between faradaic anode and nonfaradaic *** boost the Na+reaction kinetics,the present work demonstrated a high-rate MnS-based anode by embedding the MnS nanocrystals into the N,S-co-doped carbon matrix(MnS@NSC).Benefiting from the fast pseudocapacitive Na+storage behavior,the resulting composite exhibits extraordinary rate capability(205.6 mAh g−1 at 10 A g−1)and outstanding cycling stability without notable degradation after 2000 cycles.A prototype SIC was demonstrated using MnS@NSC anode and N-doped porous carbon(NC)cathode;the obtained hybrid SIC device can display a high energy density of 139.8 Wh kg−1 and high power density of 11,500 W kg−1,as well as excellent cyclability with 84.5%capacitance retention after 3000 *** superior electrochemical performance is contributed to downsizing of MnS and encapsulation of conductive N,S-co-doped carbon matrix,which not only promote the Na+and electrons transport,but also buffer the volume variations and maintain the structure integrity during Na+insertion/extraction,enabling its comparable fast reaction kinetics and cyclability with NC cathode.
