To the Editor:Medicinal plants have the ability to synthesize a large number of pharmaceutical metabolites,the production and regulation of which are influenced by both intrinsic signals(e.g.,the spatial and temporal stage)and extrinsic environmental conditions(e.g.,temperature,light availability,and water availability)*** to the Encyclopedia of DNA Elements(ENCODE)project2,accessible chromatin regions(ACRs)served essential roles in maintaining the genome architecture and gene regulation in both mammals and ***,identifying ACRs within medicinal plant genomes remains a challenge,as genomic sequences have been determined for numerous species yet the characterization of such functional elements *** this study,we selected Andrographis paniculata(APA)3 as a model system to map ACRs genome-wide by the assay for transposase-accessible chromatin with sequencing(ATAC-seq)*** aimed to uncover the genomic features of ACRs as well as their association with the expression of genes involved in secondary metabolite biosynthesis(e.g.,andrographolide)within medicinal plants(Supporting Information Fig.S1).

Rights Risks of Using Affective Computing Technology in Public Governance and Their Regulation

As the frontier of intelligent computing technology,affective computing has been used in border inspection, case investigation, crime assessment, public opinion management, traffic management and other scenarios of public governance. However, there are still public risks associated with its failure to meet the basic requirements of modern public governance, and these risks are rooted in its technical characteristics. The technical characteristics of turning emotions into signals can give rise to such problems as degrading the right to informed consent, de-governance, and undermining human dignity when applied in public governance, and consequently can lead to social rights anxiety. Additionally, the affective modeling characteristics of affective computing tend to incur the rights risks of insufficient algorithm accuracy, algorithmic discrimination, and algorithmic black boxes. To avoid these risks, it is necessary to adopt the dynamic consent model as the premise for applying affective computing in public governance, and to regulate the auxiliary application of affective computing in public governance in a hierarchical manner, to achieve a balance between the application of affective computing technology and the protection of citizens' rights and the maintenance of public ethics.

Immunomodulatory Function of Pien Tze Huang in T Cell-Mediated Anti-tumor Activity against B16-F10,MC38 and Hep1-6 Tumor Models

Objective To investigate the anti-tumor effects of Pien Tze Huang(PZH)in mouse models of B16–F10 melanoma,MC38 colorectal cancer,Hep1-6 hepatocellular carcinoma and chemically induced hepatocellular carcinoma *** Various tumor models,including B16–F10,MC38 and Hep1-6 tumor hypodermic inoculation models,B16–F10 and Hep1-6 pulmonary metastasis models,Hep1-6 orthotopic implantation model,and chemically induced hepatocellular carcinoma model,were utilized to evaluate the anti-tumor function of *** growth was assessed by measuring tumor size and weight of solid tumors isolated from C57BL/6 *** cell proliferation and death of tumor cells in vitro,as well as T cell activation markers,cytokine production and immune checkpoints analysis,single-cell suspensions were prepared from mouse spleen,lymph nodes,and tumors after PZH *** PZH demonstrated significant therapeutic efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth(P0.05).Nevertheless,PZH exhibited a remarkable ability to enhance T cell activation and the production of interferon gamma,tumor necrosis factor alpha,and interleukin 2 in CD4^(+)T cells in vitro(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Importantly,PZH substantially inhibited T cell exhaustion and boosted cytokine production by tumor-infiltrating CD8^(+)T cells(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusion This study has confirmed a novel immunomodulatory function of PZH in T cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity,indicating that PZH holds promise as a potential therapeutic agent for cancer treatment.
