This paper reviews an initial achievement of our group toward the development of on-chip parallel high-speed atomic force microscopy（HS-AFM）.A novel AFM approach based on silicon waveguide cantilever displacement sensor is *** displacement sensing approach uniquely allows the use of nano-scale wide cantilever that has a high resonance frequency and low spring constant desired for on-chip parallel *** approach consists of low loss silicon waveguide with nano-gap,highly efficient misalignment tolerant coupler,novel high aspect ratio（HAR）sharp nano-tips that can be integrated with nano-scale wide cantilevers and electrostatically driven nano-cantilever *** simulation results show that the displacement sensor with optical power responsivity of 0.31%/nm and AFM cantilever with resonance frequency of 5.4 MHz and spring constant of 0.21 N/m are achievable with the proposed *** developed silicon waveguide fabrication method enables silicon waveguide with 6 and 7.5 dB/cm transmission loss for TE and TM modes,respectively,and formation of 13 nm wide nano-gaps between silicon *** coupler demonstrates misalignment tolerance of ±1.8 μm for 5μm spot size lensed fiber and coupling loss of 2.12 dB/facet for standard cleaved single mode fiber without compromising other *** nano-tips with apex radius as small as 2.5 nm and aspect ratio of more than 50 has been enabled by the development of novel HAR nanotip fabrication *** of the HAR tips onto an array of 460 nm wide cantilever beam has also been demonstrated.

This work demonstrates the application of electrospun single and bundled carbon nanofibers(CNFs)as piezoresistive sensing elements in flexible and ultralightweight ***,electrical,and nanomechanical characterizations were conducted on the CNFs to understand the effect of the critical synthesis parameter—the pyrolyzation temperature on the morphological,structural,and electrical *** mechanism of conductive path change under the influence of external stress was hypothesized to explain the piezoresistive behavior observed in the CNF ***-static tensile strain characterization of the CNF bundle-based flexible strain sensor showed a linear response with an average gauge factor of 11.14(for tensile strains up to 50%).Furthermore,conductive graphitic domain discontinuity model was invoked to explain the piezoresistivity originating in a single isolated electrospun ***,a single piezoresistive CNF was utilized as a sensing element in an NEMS flow sensor to demonstrate air flow sensing in the range of 5-35 m/s.

Objective: To establish a DNA detection platform based on a tapered optical fiber to detect Leptospira DNA by targeting the leptospiral secY ***: The biosensor works on the principle of light propagating in the special geometry of the optical fiber tapered from a waist diameter of 125 to 12 μm. The fiber surface was functionalized through a cascade of chemical treatments and the immobilization of a DNA capture probe targeting the secY gene. The presence of the target DNA was determined from the wavelength shift in the optical transmission ***: The biosensor demonstrated good sensitivity, detecting Leptospira DNA at 0.001 ng/μL, and was selective for Leptospira DNA without cross-reactivity with non-leptospiral microorganisms. The biosensor specifically detected DNA that was specifically amplified through the loop-mediated isothermal amplification ***: These findings warrant the potential of this platform to be developed as a novel alternative approach to diagnose leptospirosis.

Dengue virus(DENV) has emerged as a major virus that is spread by mosquitoes. Recently, it has spread to more than a hundred nations but continues to lack specific treatable medication. Many traditional Chinese medicinal(TCM) plants are in practice for dengue fever in dengue endemic regions. These traditional medicines persevere with treatments, which modern medicines lack. The study aims to substantiate the anti-dengue potential of some traditional herbs and make them available for further studies to facilitate TCM users. Twelve TCM plants aqueous extracts were evaluated, which are described as cool herbs used for the diseases with high fever. Lead plants were established through detailed in vitro foci forming unit reduction analysis(FFURA) against all four serotypes and validated through quantitative real-time RT-PCR(q RT-PCR). Four plants potentially inhibited the virus in primary phenotypic in vitro evaluation. Two lead plants Dryopteris crassirhizoma(DC) and Morus alba(MA) were identified with half minimal inhibitory concentration(IC50) 130 and 221 μg m L^-1, respectively, while the selectivity indices(SI) were 4.21 and 4.62, respectively. Lead plants equally inhibited all four serotypes of DENV. Time-of-addition analysis suggested that, DC was active at later stages of viral replication, whereas MA was active during the early stages and even showed some prophylactic activity. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(HPLC/MS) analysis revealed presence of flavonoids. DC and MA are identified as potential anti-dengue plants, active against varied stages of dengue virus replication cycle. These results may serve as the base knowledge for further investigation on their combined treatments or integrative treatment with western medicines, which may improve the overall anti-dengue activity in future.

Dear Editor, We are writing this letter to present a case of ontreatment isolated superior ophthalmic vein thrombosis(SOVT) that progressed to cavernous sinus thrombosis(CST) and further complicated with carotid cavernous fistula(CCF). SOVT is a rare but potentially lethal illness. It is normally presented with orbital congestion syndrome with proptosis, ophthalmoplegia, diplopia, and high intraocular pressure(IOP)[1]. Late detection of this disease can lead to devastating complications such as optic nerve compression。
